  • Security/Check-in delays

Have the long delays being experienced by other U.S. airports due to the sequester taken effect at SFO as well? We have heard up to 1-1/2 hrs. wait time for security check-in at some airports.

So far the sequester has not affected the TSA - only CBP (immigraton). Any reports of long security lines are either political/media fear mongering and/or normal spring break related congestion.

IIs the Virgin Atlantic arrivals area within walking distance to the SFO BART station.

At SFO, Virgin Atlantic uses the International Terminal. 1. To get to areas in northern San Mateo County, San Francisco & the East Bay, take the AirTrain at the International Terminal, near Boarding Area G, to the BART train station. 2. AirTrain & BART share a station in Garage G - AirTrain being one level above BART. 3. To transfer to the Caltrain, take BART on a short ride to the Milbrae station and change to Caltrain.

  • International to Domestic connection

Hi, was just wondering what will be involved for my connections on Dec 8. I'll be arriving at SFO on a United Airlines flight from Vancouver Canada and shall be connecting to a domestic flight on United to John Wayne Airport ( SNA ) . I have approximately 90 minutes between flights, and need to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 to make the connection. Not sure yet if I have to recheck my luggage yet. Any suggestions or directions on how to accomplish all this??

    1. Use the US customs clearance at Vancouver - thereby saving time on arrival at SFO. Also note that United is only serving at the International Terminal (IT or TI) and the domestic Terminal 3; as yours will be considered a domestic flight you should be arriving & departing from T3 with boarding gate F and gates 68-90. No recheck for bags necessary.

  • Garments strewn over baggage claim

I had a tricky zipper on a new suitcase that didn't close all the way. Lucky me, I was selected for deeper scrutiny and found my suitcase open, garments and other contents strewn over the baggage claim carousel. Also lucky me, lots of undergarments and my new boss watching me run after everything. What joy. Yes, the zipper was the real issue however, come on, the zipper works fine in one direction, can we give it a little try please?

For future travel - luggage wrapping service is a godsent!

48 minutes from UA5375 (Medford) to UA900 (to Frankfurt) seems very short. Is it enought time to transfer?

Yes you have enough time as you will arrive & depart both from Terminal 3. Your boarding area is F (with gates 68-90).

I have a Friday 10am flight from SFO to Tampa and will be traveling with 2 small (under 4 yrs) children. Any advice on how long I should plan for security, etc.? Will they let us jump in line because we have kids?

I think that will answer your questions: http://www.flysfo.com/web/page/atsfo/passenger-serv/fam-serv/

Trip to Frankfurt canceled on United when computer crashed.United states it does not know the location. How do I find my luggage?

Lost luggage is the responsibility of the Airline. Best bet: go to United's website, and either find 'Contact', or 'Lost Luggage' and state your concern.
