Sao Paulo Congonhas CGH Airport Overview

Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport CGH is Greater Sao Paulo's domestic airport, and is Brazil’s second-busiest airport, operated by Infraero who also manages Sao Paulo's other airport, Guarulhos International Airport, used mainly for international flights. Congonhas has been restricted to a maximum of 30 operations an hour.

Note that the Government has appointed a new private joined operator - Invepar/ACSA (replacing Infraero) with the task of upgrading the terminal for the April 2014 World Cup event.

The Airport is located at Washington Luis Avenue, in the Campo Belo district of Sao Paulo, and 8 km from its city center. Its location, close to the major business areas of Paulista, Faria Lima & Luis Carlos Berrini avenues, make it a favorite to business travelers. The Airport offers an underground walkway below Avenue Washington Luis, which links the City's roadway network.

With two runways and an estimated 16.8 million passengers in 2012, Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport is served by a number of major & minor airlines, offering domestic flights only.

Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport has one passenger terminal which has been extended and modernized in recent years and now has 29 airline gates. 
Services and amenities inside the passenger terminal include: a good number of food & drink, retail & duty-free concessions, travel agencies, Santander banking, ATM machines, a drug store, post office, medical station, lottery, baggage storage by Malex do Brasil, and rental car desks.

Rental car desks for Avis, Hertz, Localiza, Locar Alfa, Transnet & Unidas are located in the Arrivals area of the passenger terminal.
 
To get from Congonhas Airport to your destination you can rent a car, take a taxi (taxi comun Ponto 606 (tel.11 5533-6631) or Radio Taxi Vermelho e Branco (tel. 11 5532-0676), or take one of three bus services:
1. Airport Bus Service (11) 5090-9225;
2. EMTU –(tel. 0800 724-0555); or 3. the SP Trans 156.

Airport-to-Airport Transfer:
Azul Brazilian Airlines offers to its passengers free bus transfers between Congonhas & Viracopos Airports. 
Gol & TAM airlines offer its passengers free bus transfers between Congonhas & Guarulhos airports.
