Sarajevo SJJ Airport Overview

Sarajevo International Airport SJJ serves the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its city Sarajewo and has shown a significant passenger increase in the last few years.

The Airport is located in the Sarajewo suburb of Butmir, is 6 km southwest of Sarajewo’s railway station, and is accessible from motorway E73. It is open daily 6am-10pm.

With one runway and  580,058 passengers in 2012, Sarajevo International is hub to B&H Airlines, and is served by a number of international, regular and low-fare airlines offering direct flights to many European cities with connections around the globe. Seasonal charters take passengers to popular vacation destinations.

NOTE: Web check-in is now available until 90 minuts before scheduled departure, and passengers must be at the boarding gate at the specified time indicated on their boarding pass, presenting a printout of the boarding pass or receipt.  Web check-ins may be restricted to onward flights on other carriers.  MCI mobile check-in is also available.
 
The two-level passenger terminal at Sarajevo Interrnationall Airport (which is to be extended soon) is spacious and modern with 12 check-in counters, 5 gates (2 with airbridges).
The ground level has a Central Hall with a meeting point, snack bar, information desk, currency exchange, post office,
lost & fround, & a newsstand. The Arrivals Area on the ground floor has Customs and Passport control, a baggage claim area, baggage trolleys, duty-free shop.
The first level has a Waiting Hall with a transit desk, snack bar, fast-foot area, restaurant, duty-free shop, Customs, Passport control and access to the gates.

Amenities and services inside the passenger terminal:
Food & drink establishments, duty-free shop, newsstand, full-service post office, currency exchange office, full-service bank, airline desks, Lost & Found, two Airline Lounges on the first floor (post-security) - one for smoking and one for non-smoking; VIP Departure Lounge on the first floor; VIP Arrivals lounge on the first floor (post-security); and rental car desks. The Ticketing desks on the ground floor of Terminal B, across from the passenger reception desk, sell tickets, make or change reservations, and pay for overweight luggage.

Parking options at Sarajevo International Airport include 300 spaces in the parking lot in front of the passenger terminal. The lot is divided into three areas with two separate entrances. Parking spaces closest to the passenger terminal are for short-term parking (ideal for picking up or dropping off a passenger). Parking fees in more distant areas of the lot cost les. After payment of the parking fee, you have 15 minutes to leave the parking lot.  For more parking information call 033 289 447.

To get from Sarajevo International Airport to your destination you can rent a car, take a taxi or a bus:
1. The taxi stand is close to the passenger terminal. Taxi fees are regulated and start with 2 KM and each kilometer  is 1 KM, each piece of luggage is 2 KM and waiting time is 10 KM/hr. Between 10pm & 5am, & on Sunday/Holiday, the fee is 30 percent  more per kilometer. You can call a taxi at either: 061 230 666, 033 230 666, 061 230 970 or 033 230 970.
2. Both JKP GRAS and Centrotrans-Eurolines offer bus services to the following towns: Avaz, Nedzarici, Alipasino Polje, RTV Dom, Otoka, D. Malta, Pofalici, Z. Muzej, and Bascarsija.

Future Airport Development: Plans are in place to extend the passenger terminal and to upgrade and expand both the taxiway and the apron.
