Sarasota Bradenton SRQ Airport Overview
Sarasota Bradenton International Airport SRQ is operated by Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority and serves residents of, and visitors to, five adjacent counties: Sarasota, Manatee, De Soto, Hardee and Charlotte. It is gateway to Florida's Gulf Coast and its cities Sarasota & Bradenton. Nearby Siesta Beach, 'America's Best Beach' (voted number 1 among U.S. 10 best beaches) is an 8-mile long barrier island offering pure quartz-powdered sand, bars, restaurants, shops and accommodations for every budget.
The Airport is located approximately five miles from downtown Sarasota, on the west coast of Florida, centered between Tampa Bay and Ft. Myers, and is accessible from Interstate Hwy 75, exit 213 (University Pkwy west).
With two runways and an estimated 1.3 million passengers in 2011, Sarasota Bradenton International is served by major national airlines offering direct flights to major U.S. hubs with connections around the world, as well as by Air Canada with direct seasonal flights to Toronto. Sarasota also gets charter flights from Europe.
The passenger terminal at Sarasota Bradenton Airport, wh has udergone recent renovation work (some of which is still to be completed) is not only easy to navigate, but has a most pleasant appearance, featuring a lobby display of exotic plants, a display & information about products manufactured in that area, artwork, memorabilia, and a 6,000 gallon saltwater aquarium on the upper level. Airline ticketing, baggage claim, other services are steps away from the main concourse and the commuter gates, and short- and long-term parking lots are adjacent to the main terminal.
The lower level houses baggage claim, rental car and airline ticketing desks; with a newly renovated check-in area.
the upper level offers amenities and leads to the departure gates. Past the security checkpoint are gates B1 to B14 - the international gate is B8.
Services and amenities inside the passenger terminal include: a meeting room for up to 20 persons (tel. 359-5200, ext. 4211); Airport Ambassadors eager to answer your questions or give you directions; free internet access, a restaurant, bar & snack bar, luggage carts, ATM, massage chairs, literature rack, and an animal relief area.
NOTE: Remaining renovation work on second level concourse, third level offices & baggage claim are to be completed by 2016.
Parking options at Sarasota Bradenton Airport: For passenger pickup, you can use the short-term parking lot adjacent to the passenger terminal, which offers 20 minutes of free parking. The long-term parking lot is right behind it and offers a a free shuttle service to/from the passenger terminal.
