Scholes International Airport at Galveston GLS is a general aviation airport, located 3 miles west of downtown Galveston, Texas, serving diverse aviation segments. GLS's Master Plan has considered the potential return of commercial airline service as well as the increasing trend of corporate aircraft and oil industry helicopter activity. In preparation for increased corporate activity, the ultimate plan considers the extension of the primary runway (17/35).
The 1,200-acre airport offers a first class airport terminal, a 24 hour fixed base operator, 24 hour weather services, a 24 hour ARFF station on the field, a U.S. Customs agent on call and state-of-the-art navigational aids and precision approaches providing all-weather capabilities.
Whether flying to Galveston Island for business or pleasure, the island offers a wealth of attractions, great restaurants, beaches and recreational activities in a tropical setting. At GLS there is never a charge for aircraft or vehicular parking.
