  • From San Jose to Edmonton via SEA
    Jan 5, 2016
I am flying from San Jose Airport (SJC) to Edmonton (YEG), Canada and will stop at SEA in transit. Is 45 min enough for the transit?

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time.

  • Is there a train from Gate C to Gate S
    Dec 23, 2015
Hi, I am arriving at a C Gate and I have a connecting flight at S Gate. Is there a train connecting from C to S Gate in the secure area? If not, could you provide a route?

You walk to A or B and then take the train to S.

  • Transfer to another flight without a boarding pass

Where can I collect the connecting flight boarding pass when I arrive at Seattle. Do I need to leave the secured area and re-check in? Is there a transfer desk in the secured area?

Forgot to mention. Flight is from Vancouver to Seattle to London. They are two different airlines.

How much time to do you have? Have you ever flown internationally on the airline you are flying to London? If so you may be able to get it online. Otherwise you can probably get it at the departure gate. This assumes you don't have checked baggage.

I have about 1 hr 50 min. I have never flown internationally on the airline I am flying to London. I might not be able to access internet and printer to print the boarding pass which can only be done within 24 hours from the flight time. The thing is my online ticket does not even show the departure gate which is normally stated on the boarding pass. I was wondering if there is British Airway desk or some sort of transfer desk in the secured area where I can issue a boarding pass.

Your British Airways flight will depart from a gate in the S Satellite.

Okay. So, I can find my flight in the S Satellite and they should be able to issue a boarding pass at the gate, is this correct?

Yes, they should be able to as long as you don't have checked bags.

  • Layover transit time

I am travelling from SFO to SEA and then SEA to YYJ (Victoria, Canada). I have a 45 min layover between my two flights and I am flying with Alaska Airlines for both. Will 45 min be enough time to make my connection flight?

Yes, that should be enough time if your flight from SFO is on-time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates at SEA are connected inside security.

HI, I am flying from Edmonton, CA to Dhaka, Bangladesh. My route is YEG-SEA-DXB-DAC. I got PR (Permanent Residency Permit) in Canada and I am Bangladeshi Citizen. I purchased return (DAC-DXB-SEA-YEG) ticket under same reservation of Emirates. I have 1hr 45min layover in Seattle. I got departure through terminal 3 from Seattle to Dubai. I was just wondering- • Should I need to get US Transit Visa for the layover if I got PR? • Should I go through all Immigration formalities as a Transit traveller? • Should I need to collect my Check-in Luggage and need to do Re Check-in? • If I need to go through all the immigration formalities, is 1hr 45 min layover is enough for me to get everything done?

Please also let me know which one is my arrival terminal (YEG-SEA with Alaska Airlines)? should I need to get train to go to terminal 3 for my departure from SEA-DXB?

Seattle doesn't have a "Terminal 3" in fact it only has one terminal. You will arrive in the C, D, or N concourse and depart from the S concourse. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Edmonton. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time. You do need to apply for a US Transit Visa, even with Canadian permanent residency.

Thanks for the reply. Just to reconfirm- As I will get pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Edmonton, that means, I don't have to collect my check-in luggage, right?? should I need to get train/bus to go to S concourse from S??? or walking is fine? I am worrying too much as I have my kid travelling with me.

sorry for the typo. I was trying to write- Should I need to get bus/train to go to S concourse from N concourse??

Yes, you won't have to do anything with your baggage in Seattle. Yes, there is an underground train from N to C and D and then another underground train from A and B to S. These are all inside security.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Alaska airline layover
    Dec 5, 2015
Hi, I am flying Alaska from EUG with a layover in SEA of 45 minutes to catch another Alaska flight down to San Fran. Is 45 minutes enough time to catch the second flight? Thanks in advance!

Yes, that should be enough time as long as your flight from Eugene is on-time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Lay over

Is one hour enough for a lay over in SEA going to Houston Texas. Passenger is a k1 visa holder. Is there an Immigrant Section at SEA to accommodate those under the said visa? How long is the procedure? How about the passenger's check in luggages? Thank you!

No, 1 hour is not enough time for an international to domestic connection at Seattle. You will need closer to 2 hours. K1 visa holders are processed the same as all other visa-holders entering the US (tourist, student visas, etc.)

Thanks very much. Not I, tho. I will rely your answer to her. However, what possible solution can she do, coz she already got the ticket :-(

I can't see my correction lol. Relay, I meant.

That should be plenty of time.

  • 6 Hr Lay over waitng for Transporter bus
    Sep 13, 2014
My son will be arriving 5 am and bus doesn't leave until 11 am. Rather than going directly to baggage claim and getting his lugguge, can he stay in the concourse to eat and shop? Can we arrange to have his bag kept for later pickup? Waiting for 6 hrs lugging his large suitcase and waiting in the bus wait area seems tortuous. Thanks in advance to your replies.

If it is an international flight he won't even be allowed on the concourse - he will be sent straight to Immigration, international baggage claim, and customs. If it's a domestic flight, he can take his time, but they will not "hold" a bag to come out at a specific time.

It is a domestic flight. I was hoping he would not have to spend the entire time waiting with his bag. How long do you think is reasonable to get to baggage claim before he would risk losing his bag. 1 hour too long?

1 hr would probably be ok

  • 4 Hr layover in Seattle enough time to..
    Sep 1, 2014
Hi, I'm flying to Hawaii and have a 3 hr and 43 min layover in Seattle, about how much time does security clearance usually take? So I can leave the boarding area and have enough time to make it back in for my flight.

It depends on the time of day and day of week - anywhere between 5 and 25 minutes probably.

  • Short lay over
    Aug 23, 2014
Hi I am looking at flights from Hanoi to Fairbanks, the flights go from Seoul to Seattle with 1h 46 before the flight to Fairbanks, the flight from Seoul is with delta and the flight to Fairbanks is also with delta. Will I be able to book my bags through to Fairbanks. Or will I need to go through customs? If I need to re book my bags through and go through customs is 1h 46 enough time?

Yes, 1 hr 46 minutes is enough for your connection. You will have to claim your bags after going through US Immigration, go through US Customs, and re-check your baggage with Delta.

  • HKG to YEG via SEA
    Aug 14, 2014
Hi. I will be coming from Hong Kong to Seattle with only 1hr 20min to get on my flight to Edmonton Canada. I have 2 questions. 1. Is that enough time to transfer to my EDM flight? 2. Do I have to pickup baggage in Seattle and then check them in again for Edmonton? Or will they go straight from HKG to EDM? Thanks in advance to your generous input.

Yes, that should barely be enough time and Yes, you will have to claim your baggage after clearing US Immigration, then go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage.

  • Only 1.5 layout time Vancouver to Seattle to Tokyo
    Mar 7, 2014
Hi, I booked multiple ticket from UA with a section from YVR through SEA to NRT. I have only 1.5 layout time in SEA as follows: YVR 1110 (Air Canada Express operated by Jazz Aviation) to SEA 1200 Then SEA 1315 to NRT Do I need to go through Custom and get the luggage and I am worry that 1.5 hour is not enough. Previous section of the ticket is from SFO to YVR. Shall I be counted as first entry to US and have to go through custom? Please kindly advice Many thanks

You will go through US Immigration and Customs at the Preclearance facility in Vancouver. In Seattle, all you will have to do is go from your Air Canada gate in Concourse A to your departure gate. United no longer flies from Seattle to Tokyo, so if you booked your flight through United it is probably operated by ANA and will leave from Concourse S. There is a train that connects A and S inside security. You should have enough time.

thank you very much! That's reassuring!

  • Is 2 hour layover time enough
    Feb 11, 2014
I booked a wheel chair service of flight#DL128 for my parent next month because my father needs help, he can't walk far. They have 2 hour layover time at Seattle airport. Is 2 hour enough for them to get through International Visitor's Customs, pick up the checked baggage, and make the connecting flight#DL 9190(operated by Alaska air as AS 672)? Thank you very much for your advise!

Yes, 2 hours should be enough time.
