I am arriving from London into the South Satellite and need to catch an Alaskan Airlines flight to Medford 2515Q. Can anyone tell me the terminal a domestic flight is likely to leave from as this info not available. Many thanks

Seattle only has one terminal. Your flight from Medford will depart from the C or N concourse.

    Sorry, TO Medford.

I'm flying from Santa Rosa to Seatte on Alsaka airlines arrive at 12;55pm checking bags. Will I have time to get bags get to my connection on Westjet airlines and check bags, flight is leaving at 2:10pm

I think it will be very difficult, if not impossible to get your bags to the Westjet check-in counter on-time.

Flying into SEA from YVR at 7:00AM on a Saturday and leaving SEA for PHX at 7:41AM. Booked with Delta and both flights are Delta flights. I believe that we clear US Customs in YVR and luggage gets checked through to PHX so hopefully no need to pick up and re-check. Is this enough time to make this connection??

Good morning, I am arriving at Seattle on a Delta flight from Paris. My connecting flight to Las vegas is 1. 40 mins after that. Do you think I have enough time, and will my bagge make it ? Cheers.

You should barely have enough time assuming everything goes smoothly.

ZAP - was that for my PHX post or for the other post in the thread? Thanks for being such a solid contributor to this group!

  • 1h20mins is it enough to transfer?

Hi, there. I'm traveling from Victoria, Canada to Salt Lake City, Utah, via Seattle. I have 1h20m to transfer at Seattle airport. Both flights are Alaska airline, but one that is going to Utah is indicated as 'horizontal.' Is the terminal different from international to domestic flight? Should I take a train? and would it be enough to transfer within 1h20m ?

I'm not a citizen of both Canada and USA.... Flight 2383 Operated by HORIZON AIR AS ALASKA AIRLINES ->This flight is from Victoria/ Flight 3458 Operated by SKYWEST AIRLINES AS ALASKA AIRLINES -> This is flight to Utah

Also, it's booked at one time.

Upon arrival in Seattle you will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You will depart from a gate in C, D, or N. You have 10 minutes shorter than the recommended time for International to Domestic. If you don't have checked bags I think you can do it but with checked bags it will be tough.

thank you so much about your kind explanation... I think I'll not check the luggage.. Just because baggage claim takes so much time... I'm very appreciated to your help :)

I have a flight from Calgary landing in the South satellite at 9:55, I won't have any luggage, but need to get to Jet Blue for a 10: 57 flight to Long Beach which is in Terminal D. Will I have enough time to get through customs/security? Thank you!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. All you have to do, assuming you are already checked in for your JetBlue flight is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security. You have enough time if your flight from Calgary is on-time.

  • Travelling to Canada on Student VISA via Seattle requires US Visa..??

I AM TRAVELLING TO VICTORIA, CANADA FROM DUBAI WITH A TRANSIT IN SEATTLE AIRPORT FOR 3HRS ON 3RD SEPT 2015. DO I NEED TO HAVE A VISA FOR THE US..?? DO I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE US IMMIGRATION. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL FIRST TIME, KINDLY HELP ME.

Yes, in Seattle you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You will need a US Transit Visa. Everyone entering the US needs to go through US Immigration, even if they are connecting to another country.

  • Hong Kong to Calgary Canada transit throu SEA

We will take DELTA from Hong Kong to Calgary Canada with 1hour 20 mins transit to DELTA flight from SEA to Calgary Canada on Aug 24. Do we need to go through US customs? Do we have enough time? Is the connected terminal far away from arrival gate.

FYI, I am holding Canadian passport for the above Delta flights

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags, then go through security. Both flights will probably be in the S Satellite.

Also, that is 10 minutes shorter than the minimum international to international connection time at Seattle.

I don't understand why I need to go through customs in US as my luggage will be checked all the way to Calgary Canada. I just transit to my connecting flight in Seattle to Canada. My final destination is Canada, not USA.

There is no secure transit at any airport in the USA. All arriving international passengers to the US have to go through US Immigration, regardless of whether they are continuing on to another company or not.. Be glad that as a Canadian citizen you at least don't have to get a transit visa or complete ESTA.

I see! Thank you very much for your explanation. I only have 1 hour 20 mins, Do I have enough time for transit?

That is 10 minutes shorter than the minimum, it will be difficult.

Im travellinf deom the philippines ro swattle with 11 hours stop over at incheon do i nees to apply foe a transit visa? Im a b1/b2 visa holder

From the philippines im travelling to seattle as my destination with 11hours stop over att incheon, do i still have to appy for a transit visa from my country? Im a B1/B2 visa holder

I am planning to take a flight from San Jose, California to Seattle by Alaska air, and then take Alaska Air to Vancouver. I will have 45 min layover in Seattle. Will I make it to the next flight?

Yes, that should be enough time if your flight from San Jose is on-time. All you have to do in seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security.

Hi, Im flying London - Seattle with BA arriving at 5.05pm and then Seattle - Fairbanks with Alaskan Airlines leaving at 7.55pm on 2 separate tickets. I understand I will have to go through US Immigration, claim our bags, go through US customs then go to the departure level and find the Alaskan Airlines check in counter. Will I have enough time to do all this? Thanks in advance for your help

    That should be enough time.

  • is 1 hour layover to S Korea enough time?

1st time international traveler. Not sure of all the procedures. I'm afraid the ticket may not give me enough time to make my connection. Departing from Phx on Alaska airlines. 1 hour layover in Seattle and flying on Delta to Seoul S Korea The flight was booked as a codeshare meaning different airlines but they all partner together. Bought the ticket on Expedia If its a codeshare does that mean I will be able to have my luggage checked in at Phx and not have to pick it up and recheck it in Seattle?

Correct, you will not have to claim your luggage in Seattle. There is no US Immigrration or Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is take the underground trains from the C, D, or N concourse where you will arrive to the S concourse where you will depart. You have enough time if your flight from Phoenix is on-time.

  • Will 80 minutes be enough time to change Int'l to Domestic

My son and I are arriving on Delta from Haneda (Japan) at 5:34pm and connecting to a Delta flight to San Francisco at 6:55pm. Will this be enough time? We'll both be on US passports, and will only have carry-on bags, nothing checked. I gather International flights arrive at South Satellite. Does anyone know which terminal Delta domestic flights to SF leave from, and how long it takes to get between terminals? Never been to Seattle Tacoma and starting to freak out about this.

Since you don't have checked bags I think you can make it. Delta domestic flights leave from both the S Satellite and A concourse. The train ride from S to A if required is less than 5 minutes after you go through security after customs.

Thanks ZAP, much appreciated. Fingers crossed we'll make it! (Showing my age but I have visions of OJ running through airports.)

  • PDX to Seattle (SEA) to Seoul (ICN) to Hanoi (HAN)

I will fly from PDX to SEA, then from SEA to Seoul Incheon (ICN). Where will I need to go through immigration/customs? Will I need to reclaim my bags too?

You will go through Vietnamese Immigration and customs when you get to Hanoi. Assuming all tickets were purchased on the same reservation, that is the first time you will see your bags after you check them in Portland.

  • Transit

Hi there, I'm planning a trip from Sacramento, CA (SMF) to Vancouver, BC (YVR). The layover point would be Seattle Tacoma (SEA). I'm wondering what how much transit time I would need to get from one flight to the next? I found layover times which range from 45 minutes to 3 hours. What would you say is the minimum time needed? Also, what is the process? Would I need to collect my baggage and check in again? Is there a difference (in terms of layover processing) between taking Delta and Alaska Airlines? Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!

The process both ways is that you walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You won't have to do anything with your baggage or go through customs in Seattle either way. There's no difference in flying Delta or Alaska when it comes to the connection. Alaska has more flights to Vancouver so if the price is the same, I'd probably go with them since it gives you more options in case you're delayed.

  • Enough time?

Arriving from Victoria at 6:40am. We need to be on our next flight to Orlando at 8:10am. Will we have enough time to clear customs? Both flights are with Alaska and booked together

    That should be enough time.

My daughter coming in from Japan with ANA and transit to Portland via Alsaka Airline in SEA and the layover time is only 1 hr 20 mins. We are wondering whether she had sufficient time to catch the flight to Portland and this is the 1st time she is at Seattle Airport and she has to go through immigration, pick up their bags, and check in at Alaska and check their bags again. Will 1 hr 20 mins hours be enough time for her to do all these things and not be late for check in at Alaska Airline. Appreciate any kind advise.

That is below the minimum international to domestic connection time. That is not enough time. Since it sounds like she is on two separate tickets she needs at least 3 hours between flights.

Thank you for the kind response. The ticket is booked thru' ANA which included the transit using Alsaka Airlines. I had sounded out our concern to ANA and their reply is that it is within the minimum standard. The bags are tagged to Portland but not sure about the boarding pass. I am wondering how much time is required to clear the immigration, get the luggage and recheck in the luggage and get the boarding pass and ahead to the departure gate. Do you think is it better to check with Alsaka Airlines? Thank you.

If tickets were booked together then 90 minutes is the official required time. However, if she doesn't make her connection she doesn't have much to worry about as there are flights from Seattle to Portland leaving almost every 30 minutes that she can be rebooked on.

Noted with thanks. Much appreciated and hope that she can make it without any hiccups in an alien airport. Thank you for the kind advise.
