Hi there I will be travelling soon from Calgary to Karachi ..Calgary to Seattle on Alaskan air then Seattle to dubai to Karachi on emirates.i have a 2 hour layover in Seattle will I have to clear customs claim baggage and then recheck in again at emirates? Is 2 hours enough.plz help

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. In Seattle you will just have to go to the baggage claim in the main terminal, then take your bags to the Emirates check in counter, then go through security. You have enough time if your flight from Calgary is on-time.

  • JFK to SEA to YVR

Hi if I have a Delta ticket from JFK to SEA, then an hour to get to my connecting SEA to YVR, will this be enough time? I believe my luggage will be checked through to YVR as it's one Delta ticket so it'll just be getting myself between planes in 1 hour (or less depending on how early they close the gate!).

Yes, that is plenty of time. Yes, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates in Seattle are connected inside security.

Fantastic, thank you for your help.

  • SMF to SEA then SEA to REK AND return

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I have tickets booked already for SEA to REK. Now I need to book my tickets for SMF to SEA and return. I would like to make sure I allow enough time for customs, claiming my baggage and rechecking it, etc. Let's assume I am not able to have the bags booked through to SMF and I will need to claim the bag in SEA and upon clearing customs will need to follow the signs for passengers ending thier journey in Seattle instead of the one for connections. I'm currently looking at flying either Alaska or Delta from SMF to SEA and my flight to REK leaves Seattle at 3:30. What time should I plan to arrive in Seattle? On the return, from SEA to SMF. My flight from REK is set to arrive at 4:40. What time would be safe to plan a departure using either Southwest or Delta? This is such a helpful resource!! Many thanks.

On your way to Sacramento, I'd look for a flight at least 2.5 hours after your arrival in SEA. On your way back from SMF I think you could arrive at SEA 2 hours before your flight and be OK. You will have to claim and re-check your bags in the main terminal on both legs in Seattle because you are purchasing two separate itineraries.

  • Transit between YVR-SEA and SEA-NRT 1 hour - enough time?

Hi, Please advise: Booked/purchased on same reservation (1 ticket number): Vancouver-Seattle on Alaska (Horizon-operated), 1-hour layover, then Seattle-Narita on ANA. Will 1 hour be enough time to go from N gate to S gate? Will I need to collect my bags and re-check-in in Seattle of my ANA flight? I don't think Alaska/Horizon and ANA are partners. Thanks for your help!

ANA cancelled their interline baggage agreement with Alaska in 2013. So yes, you will have to go to the main terminal to collect your bag and re-check it with ANA. You won't have enough time to do this. You need to get an earlier flight to Seattle or fly or drive in the day prior.

Ok that stinks! If I don't fly the yvr-sea portion, and drive instead (to make the connection), would I forfeit the rest of the ticket and not be able to fly at all? p.s. I called Alaska about this earlier and the agent was sure I would be able to check it all the way to Narita and not pick it up in Seattle to recheck in. He's wrong then?

Followup FYI: I called ANA and asked about their interline baggage policy with Alaska. I was told yes they did cancel it but it was "renewed" sometime ago, so yes the baggage can be checked through when checking in with Alaska. Alaska would not be able to issue ANA boarding passes though. Turns out the Alaska rep was right after all. Hope this helps someone.

I am arriving at Seattle from Calgary on a Delta flight at 18:20. My onward flight to London also with Delta is at 19:20. Is that enough time? Will I have to re-check baggage?

Correction: it's a SkyWest flight from Calgary to Seattle, booked through Delta.

I am arriving on Southwest at 12:50pm and must recheck my bag on Alaska for a 3:35pm flight to Anchorage (different tickets). Is this enough time, and where do I need to go to recheck the bag? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. Upon arrivals, just follow signs to baggage claim. Then once you get your bag, go up to the departure level and find the Alaska Airlines counter.

I am travelling from Toronto to Vancouver to Seattle to Fairbanks, and I have a 2.2 hour layover at Tacoma. Will that be enough time? Will I have to clear customs, claim and recheck bags prior to my departure in Seattle, or will that occur in Vancouver? Please advise, and thank you for your help!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, assuming all tickets were bought on a single reservation.

Yes, they were. Thank you for your prompt response!

  • enough time to make connection?

UAL has just changed my flight from sfo to sea. I must connect to Alaska when I arrive. Is 49 min. enough time between flights to collect luggage from United and check in to Alaska (to Fairbanks)#123?

No, that is not enough time. You need at least 90 minutes, preferably 2 hours to make a connection like that on two separate tickets. You need to call United to reject the schedule change and demand either an earlier flight or a refund.

  • Connecting from PDX-SEA-FRA

I have a flight from PDX and arrives at SEA at 12:17p and have a connecting flight to FRA at 1:40p. Will I be able to make it to this flight no problem? Should I re check in my baggage or I don't have to worry about my baggage?

oh and also, the flight from PDX-SEA is operated by Alaska and from SEA-FRA is operated by Lufthansa. If I miss this flight do they offer me a next available flight or am I on my own? I booked my flight ticket on online booking site.

Husband & I flying from SMF to SEA on Alaska Air arriving at 9:14am. Connecting Horizon flight to PSC departs at 10 am. Will 45 min be enough time? He will have wheelchair assist. Will connecting gates be in same satellite?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Alaska uses 3 different concourses at SEA so it's unsure whether flights will be in the same concourse.

  • Connecting to Vancouver from Dublin

Hi - I am travelling from Dublin to Vancouver through Frankfurt and Seattle. Do I have to clear US immigration in Seattle even though my final destination is not the USA, or is there some transfer area in the airport for folks with onwards flights to Canada ?

Yes, in Seattle you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, go through security, and go to your departure gate. If you're an Irish citizen be sure to complete ESTA before your trip.

How do u get from n1 to concourse c for Alaska via horizon, is it same levels?

Seattle only has one departure "level" but to get from N to C you need to take an underground train, which is by nature, underground.

My wife is traveling from PDX to SEA. the flight arrives at 2:15 PM to SEA. She has to collect the baggage and recheck in with Emirates. The Emirate Flight to DXB departs at 5:40 PM. I assume she has to collect her baggage from Main Terminal. Then she will have to checkin at Emirates. Then take train to S terminal. I have couple of questions a. will there be enough time for getting the baggage and recheckin at Emirates and go to S terminal? b. what's the best way to navigate from C concourse to Main and then Main to S? - M

Yes, that should be enough time. There are signs showing how to go everywhere she needs to go. You can just walk from C to the baggage claim. There is an underground train to S.

hi, im flying London-Fairbanks. changing at kef and Seattle. My Seattle change over is 2hours 15minutes where im then getting a Alaska airline flight to Fairbanks. im wanting to know if this is enough time for my connecting flight?what will I have to do when I get to seattle?ive been told I may need get my boarding pass for the last part of the flight at the airport(seattle to Fairbanks) is there a desk when I get off my flight from Iceland? thanks

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? Will you have checked bags? You can get your Alaska Airlines boarding pass online before you leave London.

Yeah all in one ticket.yes will have a checked bag.what will I have to do when get to Seattle?i have 2 hours 15mins,is this enough time?

After arriving in Seattle's S Satellite you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bag at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the underground train to your departure concourse. Alaska Airlines uses concourses C, D, and N.

Thank you! Does this all happen in a connecting flight area within the airport-you don't need go out the airport to go back in?how long does the train take?have I enough time-the airline says I do but am a bit worried Thanks

If I have purchased all flights on one itinerary will the checked bag go from London to Fairbanks-and just recheck it in Seattle?

Yes, it will be tagged to Fairbanks in London, in Seattle you will just have to claim it in order to go through US Customs, then re-check it right after. All of this stuff happens in the basement of the S Satellite. You will not have to go to the main terminal building. Getting from the S Satellite to your Alaska Airlines gate will probably take somewhere between 5 and 15 minutes.

    Thanks.so 2hours 15 minutes be enough time?

    Yes, it should be
