  • 2 hour layover to get bags and check in with another airline
    Jun 13, 2016
We arrive into Seattle on a southwest flight. Will 2 hours be enough to claim bags, checkin with Delta and get through security for a flight to Hawaii?

It's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • YKM-->SEA, then SEA-->SFO-->PEK
    Jun 13, 2016
I booked two separate tickets: the first from YKM (Yakima) to SEA on Alaska Air, the second from SEA to SFO, SFO to Beijing, through United Airlines. I'll have cleared YKM security already when I arrive at SEA, but will NOT have checked in yet for my Seattle to Beijing flight since I booked them separately. Will I be able to check in at the United boarding gate after deplaning my Alasa flight without having to go through security again, or will I need to exit the terminal, check in for my Seattle-SanFran-Beijing flight, then go through Sea-Tac security? I can manage doing carry-ons only, but the kicker is that I don't have much time between flights. Any advice or insight much appreciated.

  • HKG to SEA to YYC (all Delta airline )
    Jun 12, 2016
I will fly from HONG KONG to SEA and have 1hour connecting flight to YYC. Is all the south gate? How is the flow and area in SEA airport? Is enough time for me to do so? Thank so much!!!!!!!!!

That is not enough time for an International to International connection through Hong Kong. If there is no later flight to Calgary be prepared to stay in Seattle overnight. You will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate, likely on the underground train in Concourse A or B. As I said, 1 hour is not enough time to do this.

How about 1hr and 19mins coz I have bought it before, then I found that I may not have enough to do so. If I cannot be borading on time (from SEA TO YYC). Can I buy another flight ticket of another airlines. Since I also bought the ticket(from YYC TO SEA TO HKG. The delta airline will or won't cancel my flight(from YYC TO SEA TO HKG)? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SAN - SEA - YEG
    Jun 9, 2016
Hi, ill have a layover in Seattle (from Santa Ana) for 53 mins, then onto the YEG (Edmonton, Canada). Will this be enough time? I have no checked bags, and I am Canadian Citizen. But it is still going to be an international connection. Departure Time will be around 10:58 am and Boarding time will be 10:03 am, which is before my arrival time in Seattle, 10:05 am. Hope time works. Thank you.

That is enough time if your flight from SNA is on-time. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Seattle.

Hello. I'm thinking of flying from Calgary (YYC) to Orange County (SNA) connecting through Seattle (SEA). What do i need to do in Seattle? It says layover time is about an hour in SEA. Is this enough? I will go through US Customs in YYC.

All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate if both flights are on the same reservation. An hour is enough time.

My daughter is a US citizen returning from a trip to BC. She will be flying out of VANCOUVER to SEATTLE and on to CHICAGO. She only has 74min, is that enough time to connect? And does her luggage continue on to Chicago without her physically getting it off and back on in Seattle? I believe she does a customs recheck in VAN, does that mean no customs needed in SEA?

Yes, she preclears US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All she has to do in Seattle is go from her arrival gate to her departure gate.

  • YYJ to SEA to DEN

I'm flying out to Seattle from Victoria tomorrow morning with a 1hr 20min lay over before flying out to Denver - all flights with Delta. If I check baggage will we need to claim it in Seattle and clear US customs or will our checked baggage be transferred directly through to Denver and only we will need to clear US Customs prior to boarding our flight to Denver? Thanks,

In seattle you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate via the underground train. You barely have enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Thanks for the info - I think we will just bring carry on to limit any chance of delay. We are flying into S terminal in Seattle and out of B. Any tips on the best way to navigate through Immigration and Customs? Much appreciated

S and B are just concourses - immigration in Seattle is very straightforward - it will be the only place to go once you arrive.

  • Alaskan Gates
    Jun 7, 2016
Hi , arriving in Gate D1, connecting flight Gate C7 both Alaskan Air,, we have 1 1/2 hr time, will that make it? and how far are the gate traveling with elderly parents

It shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to get between those gates. You have plenty of time.

  • one hour layover in Seattle
    Jun 6, 2016
I am flying on Alaska from SFO to SEA with a one hour layover. I then fly with British Airways from SEA to Heathrow. Is a one hour layover enough time. The reservation is all the way from SFO to Heathrow. Do I need to collect my bags in Seattle and recheck them?

If everything is on the same reservation then you do not have to do anything with your bags in Seattle on your way to London. Just go from your arrival gate in concourse C, D, or N to your departure gate in the S Concourse via the underground train.

Thank you for this information. Do you think an hour layover is sufficient?

Yes, that should be enough time if your flight from SFO is on-time.

  • Fast Connection from international to domestic
    Jun 15, 2016
My wife and I are moving back from Shanghai after 4 years there. We will be coming with 8-10 bags on Delta from Shanghai and 9:13 am, and will need to clear customs and get to an Alaska/Horizon flight at 10:45am. Will the 92 minutes of layover be enough to make our flight?

    That's a very difficult connection.

Thanks, home is in Central Oregon and we need to be there by 5pm, so we reserved a car as a backup plan because there are only 2 flights a day.

I will be flying in from Dubai on Emirates and have a connecting flight in Alaska to Vegas. I have a lay over time of 1hr 45 minutes. Is it enough? Thanks in advance.

  • Victoria BC Canada to SEA to San Diego
    Jun 5, 2016
Hi, travelling from Victoria BC to SEA (Delta) and to San Diego, CA (SWA) with 2 hour layover. Is that enough to clear Immigration and customs for a US green card holder?

With checked bags this is pretty difficult. With no checked bags I think you should have enough time.

  • Enough time for winter time?
    May 30, 2016
Hello; I was just notified of a flight change which now will mean a 1 hr 8 min connection, both Delta flights DTW - SEA - HKG. Would you recommend accepting this timing? Thank you for your help!

    Yes, not a problem

  • Do I need to leave security when going from SWA to Delta?
    Jun 5, 2016
I am flying from LAX to Seattle on SWA then changing planes to go to Vancouver, BC on Delta. With TSA issues I will be carrying on my luggage, but want to confirm I won't need to go through TSA a second time when going from SWA to Delta? Will they just check my passport at the gate?

Yes, you won't have to go through security. Yes, they will just check your passport at the gate. YOu will go through Canadian immigration and customs in Vancouver.

  • Need to leave secure area between flights?
    Jun 5, 2016
I will arrive in Seattle at 6:39 am. I have a separate reservation to fly out of Seattle to Iceland at 9:15. I will not need to go to baggage claim after the first flight. Can I remain in the secure area, and avoid going through security on departing Seattle?

Yes, if your bags are checked through you don't have to go through security in Seattle.

  • Connection time required btwn domestic & international flight, 2 tckts
    Jun 5, 2016
Flying into SEA from Phoenix to catch a flight on Icelandair. Will have 2 separate tickets. How much time do I need to allow to get bags and recheck luggage for Icelandair flight?

I recommend at least 3 hours because of having to re-check bags.
