I have a flight with AS that connects in SEA with B6 (JetBlue) with a 50 minute connection time. Based on Google, the flight typically lands at C16 and the onward flight is from A5. Is 50 minutes enough time? How much buffer would I have if there was a delay (ie. what is the minimum amount of time to get from C16 to A5?)

With no checked bags you can make this, but you only have maybe 15-20 minutes buffer. Check in for your Jetblue flight online before leaving Calgary. You don't have enough time to check a bag.

I'm thinking about booking a flight on Delta with my son from Tokyo (NRT) to New York (JFK) with a 1:45 layover in Seattle. Is that enough time to clear customs? Will we need to claim & recheck our baggage, or will it be sent through to JFK?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You should have just enough time.

  • LAX-->SEA--> YYC (Calgary) 1h wait in Seattle

Flying with Air Alaska from LAX to YYC with a 1h 5min stop over in Seattle. Is this enough time to get from gate to gate for an international departure? Do I need to clear customs prior to boarding the flight to Calgary?

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

I am flying from Vancouver, BC to Seattle with Delta, then connecting to Southwest to Chicago. I will have to pick up checked bag at carousel in SEA, then check bag with Southwest. Connection time between arriving flight and departing flight is 2h15mins. Is this enough time?

That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • 1 hr. 25 mins from international -> domestic, different airlines

I am arriving in SEA from Frankfurt. I have a 1hr 25min. layover before my flight from SEA->PDX Arriving airline is Lufthansa and domestic airline is Alaska Air, on different booking reference. Would I have enough time to make it to the domestic gate?

I will have no bags checked.

Perhaps if my connection time is too short, I can request same-day stand-by for a later flight?

With no checked bags this isn't impossible. Check in for your Alaska flight online before you leave Germany. If you miss your connection they are not obligated to, but they will likely let you standby for a later flight.

We are coming in on Delta airlines from Vancouver to Seattle and then getting on Delta for trip to Denver. We have a 1 hour delay between flights. Will we have to pick up our check baggage and if so will it have to be rechecked and will our carry ons have to go through security again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in Seattle is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Will we have to pick up our check bag or they put it on the plane and meet us in Denver?

You don't have to do anything with your bags in Seattle.

  • Two Flights departing SEA on same Airline - likely same terminal?

Booking tickets from SEA-PHX for kids and grandma and SEA-SAN for husband and I. Would prefer for all of us to go through security together and go to our respective gates. Is this doable if both flights are on the same airline? On different airlines? Thanks!

Seattle only has one terminal, so there's a 100% chance all flights will depart from the same terminal.

Ah ok (-: So once you are through security you can move between all of the concourses?

    Yes, you can.

Hi, I have an Alaska Airlines flight from Vancouver to Seattle, with a 1 hour layover, connecting with another Alaska Airlines flight to SFO. No checked luggage. Will I have enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver so all you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Waiting for friend at Terminal S.

There are two of us flying from BC Canada arriving at different times and gates at the S Terminal.is it possible for one person to wait for the other one to arrive before proceeding through immigration ,etc together?we would have minimum 2.5 hours connecting time to our flight to LA.

No, you are not encouraged to loiter in the immigration area. Meet your friend at your departure gate for your flight to LA.

I was thinking more about meeting at one of the arrival gates in terminal S before heading to immigration. How far is immigration from the S gates? Thanks

You are funneled directly to immigration after arrival - you can't meet him at an an international arrival gate. Also note that if either of you are coming from Vancouver you won't even go through Immigration in Seattle.

Thanks. Not coming from Vancouver. Is there a place right after customs before heading to the departure gate that we could meet? It is only 1/2 hour difference between both arrival flights in Seattle.

You could meet just past where you go back through security.

    Thanks for your help.

On the way back and was wondering if there is a security check between terminal B and Terminal C on a connecting flight from LA to BC, Canada. Also is there a duty free shop in Terminal C? If not where can i get duty free lliquor to take back with me in my carry- on? Thanks

Yes, it is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi, I have connection to catch at gate S7, coming from gate A3. Is 10 minutes enouh? Thanks

You use the underground train. 10 minutes is not really enough for any connection, although if the inbound flight arrives earlier than that it's not impossible as it's a very close connection.

  • International connection (Transit in SEA from Seoul)

Hi! I am a non-US citizen, and I have 1hr 50mins in Seattle to transit from an international flight from Seoul to a domestic flight to SFO on Alaskan airlines. As time would be very tight, I would like to know what is the fastest possible route from which terminal to which terminal upon arrival at SEA to clear customs, re-check in my bags, and catch my Alaskan Air flight? Also, what is the latest I can re-check in my bags? Thank you for your time!

Seattle only has one terminal. If all tickets are on the same reservation, you will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security, and then go to your departure gate in the C, D, or N concourse using the underground train. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I went through a third party agent to get my tickets, and realised that my international flight (Asiana Airlines) and my domestic flight (Alaskan Airlines) does not have any interlining or codesharing agreements. As such, I suspect the tickets are considered to be different reservations. If this is the case, are there any differences with the process you advised above? Thank you for your reply!

Yes, if Asiana isn't able to tag your bag to SFO then you will have to put your bag on a belt that takes it to the main terminal after clearing customs, then take the train to the main terminal, then claim your bag again, then re-check it at the Alaska check-in desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. That makes your connection much more difficult.
