  • Flying from Maui to Vancouver - connecting in Seattle
    Aug 2, 2016
    1
We are flying from Maui to Seattle via Delta Airlines, arriving Concourse B, and transferring to our Vancouver flight (via SkyWest aka Delta Connection) at South Satellite 55 mins later. This was all booked on the same ticket. Do we have to go through customs/security? Will our bags be checked through to Vancouver? How long will it take to get from Concourse B to South Satellite, and is 55 mins enough time?

There is no US Customs when exiting the US. It shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to get between gates. You have enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Also Vancouver flights rarely leave from S - usually A or B.

  • Coming from Iceland - booking 2nd leg to SJC - how much time do I need

Two adults traveling from Iceland to SEA with checked luggage. How much time to clear customs then fly to SJC on Alasaka Air? Flights depart 2.15 hours or 4.15 hours after scheduled arrival.

With checked luggage you'll need to take the 4:15 connection since you will have to go to the main terminal to re-claim and re-check your bags with Alaska then go through security after clearing customs.

  • Making a connecting flight C to S

I have 1 hr and 40 min to make a connecting flight. I will be going from C to S and it will be 11pm-12 am. Is all of the transportation between terminals open at that time. Do I have to go through security again? I'll be managing 3 tired kids and concerned on how fast we'll be able to go.

Yes, all trains will still be running, otherwise there'd be no way to get to S! You do not have to go through security. Just walk to B and take the train to S if your bags are checked through or you have no checked bags.

  • Seattle Connection Time
    Aug 4, 2016

Im flying from Vancouver, Canada to Seattle, then onto Atlanta. My connection time is for the flight Im looking at is 45 minutes. I have told be Delta that I will need to clear customs upon landing in Seattle. Do I need to pick up my bags as well ? Is this enough time to clear customs ? Do they have a Nexus or similar at SEA ?

The person who told you that is completely wrong. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in Seattle is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

this info is incorrect - I flew to Seattle yesterday from Victoria Canada and then on to Portland. We stood in the security line for over an hour after clearing customs with our global entry cards. You must go through TSA security after clearing customs and immigration if you are on a connecting flight in the US. Most of my coworkers missed our connnecting flight as did many others in the lines. No TSA precheck line in customs/immigration to get back into the airport.

So you had to go through TSA security and customs after coming from Victoria ? Above it says pre-check is done in Canada so its still not clear. Whats up with the long wait with global entry ?

Vancouver has pre-clearance, Victoria does not. They are different places. The original poster was asking about Vancouver, not Victoria.

    https://www.cbp.gov/border-security/ports-entry/operations/preclearance This is correct.

  • International arrival at SEA connecting to SJC

I am arriving at SEA on international flights and need to connect to SJC. I haven't booked my SEA SJC tickets, wanted to know how much layover is ideal for customs, connections . have 2 little kids.

If you're booking to separate tickets i would want at least 3 hours.

  • Is 1hr55min enough to catch international flight (need to check- bags)

Hi, I have booked 2 separate tickets: From Denver to SeaTac, lay over 1hr 55min, then SeaTac to London. I was wondering if I'll be able to catch the international flight if I have to check-in my luggage. Thank you.

Flying Delta on 2 separate reservations (one is for vancouver, other is boise) Anyway, I only need know, is 50 minutes connection just enough time for me with only backpack as carry-on? I will be in Delta from YVR to SEA, then to BOI. The return will be same but is 2 hrs 15 mins instead. The other reservation is on 2 weeks which includes Boise for 3 days too.

Yes, that is enough time. Check in for both flights online before you leave. Since you have no checked bags all you have to do in Seattle both ways is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Sorry, i will have luggage checked for vancouver side (2 weeks). Only boise side I take my backpack as carryon. 2 different bookings under Delta.

My question is what about checked bags, do i need to recheck bags again in Seattle or they transfer automatically.

Yes, you will have to claim your bags in Seattle and bring them back the next morning.

  • YVR - SEA - ICN

Hi, I'm a Canadian citizen flying in from Vancouver, BC to Seattle to connect to an international flight to Seoul. Will 1 hr 11 min layover be enough time? The return flight is ICN-SEA-YVR with 1 hr 29 min layover in Seattle. Should I change my flights to allow more time to connect? If so, how much time should I plan? Thanks!

What airlines are you flying? Are all tickets on the same reservation?

I'm flying Delta, and yes, all on the same reservation.

On the way to Seoul you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver and you have enough time in Seattle as all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. However, the return will be much more difficult as in Seattle on your way to Vancouver you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and to your departure gate.

I have 45 min in SEA before connect flight to hongkong, is this enough time?

If both flights are on the same reservation that's just enough time. If that's the case then all you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

do we need to go through security check again in Seattle for connecting flights. I am travelling from Denver to Seattle and 1 hr layover to connect Dubai flight. Is that layover is enough to catch flight?

Are your tickets on two separate reservations or one reservation? If everything is on the same reservation all you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

its one reservation, Denver to India via Seattle and Dubai. We have 1 hr layover in Seattle and we are thinking we can't catch the flight if again security check at Seattle when moving from arrival gate to departure gate.

You don't have to go through security in Seattle. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if the flight from Denver is on-time.

    Thank you

Looking at flying from Atlanta to SEA and then on to Calgary....What is the process...pick up bags, customs, etc... and is 1 hour and 15 minutes enough time for the connection? Thank you, Wango

There is no US Immigration or Customs when exiting the US. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Thank you for the info..can you further clarify something for me then please. So would go through customs at Calgary?

Yes, you will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Calgary.

    Excellent..thank you for the clarification.

Hi..travelling from Ketchikan - Seattle - Dubai. South African National. One hour layover in Seattle to catch Emirates flight to Dubai. Is it enough time. Really stressed. Need advice.

If both tickets are on the same reservation you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Seattle. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

Hi, im flying in with Emirates to Seattle and on to Calgary 2.45mins later. Do i pass through US immigration? I always get stopped for over an hour! , regardless do you think this will be enough time? how long is it from North to South Satellite? thanks! Kirsty

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags a the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate on the underground trains. going from S to N takes maybe 15 minutes.
