  • Enough time to make connection?
    Aug 6, 2014

Hi, I am a foreign national (with visa) and have a virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow arriving in SEA at 14:44 on Thursday, and then have a connecting flight to San Francisco, again with Virgin Atlantic, at 16:00. Will this be enough time to reclaim baggage, go through customs and immigration, re-check my baggage and catch my connection?(It's all one ticket aswell if that makes any difference) Thanks

Virgin Atlantic does not fly from SEA to SFO. Your flight to SFO is likely operated by Delta. You will have a very difficult connection but it is doable.

Ok, thank you for the reply

  • Time needed for North South Connection

I am arriving on Horizon Air (N-satellite) and have an international connection on KLM (s-satellite) Is 1 hour long enough for the connection.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time 1 hour should be enough time.

Hello, ill arrive with Lufthansa at the SEA TAC APT and have a domestic connecting flight to ANC. Some questions hereto: 1.At which terminal will that be? 2.If at South terminal, do i clear customs and immigrations there as well? 3. Where do i pick up the luggage and do the re Check-in for the domestic flight with Alaska airlines to Anchorage? 4.from which gate will flight AS119 most likely depart? 5. Since I have to pay for the luggage with Alaska airlines, where do pay for the luggage ?

SEA only has one terminal, all international arrivals are handled within the S-satellite. On the lower level of the S-satellite you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, and go through US customs. Then, since it appears you purchased tickets separately, your baggage will be transferred to a baggage claim in the main terminal and you will take a train to the main terminal. Then you will take your baggage to the Alaska Airlines check-in counter. Your Alaska Airlines flight will depart from C, D, or N.

Thanks so far. I am not sure, if I have two tickets or not, I have to double check. 1. If that is the case, then i'llproceed, as you have suggested. Please confirm that the check-in counter for Alaska Airways is in the main terminal. Should I have only one ticket where both flights are on, how would be the baggage handling? Thanks again for your advice.

All check-in counters are in the main terminal - it is the only place with check-in counters. If you do have one ticket and the bags are checked through to ANC then you can re-check the bags with Alaska at the exit of Customs, before you go back through security. Then you can take the train directly to your departure gate and not have to go back to the main terminal.

Hi, I will be coming to Seattle airport at 12:55 pm via Emirates from Dubai.I have connecting flight to Phoenix at 3:00 pm via Alaska Airlines. Whether the time is sufficient to make the connection? Thanks in advance.

That should be enough time, even if your tickets were purchased separately and you have to re-check bags in the Main Terminal with Alaska.

Thanks, I have booked a single ticket for my entire journey to Phoenix. I was wandering if I have to claim the baggage at Sea-Tac or it will be transferred by the airlines?

You will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, but you can immediately re-check them with Alaska after you get through customs.

Hi, I think my flight will land on Sea-Tac at South Satellite, Whether I have to re-check my baggage with Alaska at Main Terminal or at South Satellite only?

Alaska has a counter after customs in the South Satellite for transfer baggage.

I'm flying with Delta/klm from Amsterdam to Seatac arriving at 16.02 (South?) and next flight whit Alaskan depart (from North?) at 17.40. It's enough? will i clear immigration, custom and re-check my baggage all in South terminal? Thanks

If your bags are tagged through to OGG you will clear US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security all in the immigration hall of the S-Satellite. You will then be able to go directly to your departure gate in C, D, or N via the underground trains. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Thanks for your fast reply. i have a single book (only one PNR) with two different tickets, think my baggage are tagged directly to OGG... Is there a train that directly reach N from S? How many time it needs? thank again

There's no direct train between N and S. Just check the monitors for your departure gate and follow the signs to that concourse.

  • HKG-SEA-PHX from Delta to Alaska

I am flying back from HKG to SEA on Delta, SEA to PHX on Alaska with 1 hr 54min connection time. Will I make my connection? Thank you in advance!!!

Yes, that should be enough time to make your connection but leaves little time for any delays and depends on your bags being checked through to PHX in HKG so that you can re-check in the S-satellite without having to go to the main terminal to re-check your bag after clearing US customs.

  • YVR > SEA > HKG via Delta

Hi, i just received an update to my itinerary from Delta. I now arrive at SEA from YVR at 12:24pm on a Delta flight operated by Skywest, and supposed to leave SEA for HKG on Delta flight at 1:57pm. This only give about 90mins transfer time, and I'm concerned. Will I be able to make it? Been reading some posts from other Canadian travelers that I would have to clear US customs first then re-check at SEA for international flight. Is that true? Thanks!

Since you are coming from Vancouver and YVR has US Immigration preclearance, your arrival into Seattle will be like a domestic flight. Therefore you will have plenty of time to make your connection. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

When arriving at terminal S from a flight on Delta from AMS, does the passport and customs control take place there at that S terminal? Also, when rechecking the bag for the domestic flight to FAT (on Alaska air and ticketed together with Delta flight) is that done at the S terminal or do I have to take the bag to the main terminal? One more question: After the previous actions, where is TSA security control to get to the new gate to FAT?

Customs and immigration are done on the lower level of the S Terminal. Re-check is done there as well. Then she can go through a special security checkpoint and be back in the secure part of the terminal where the gates are.

Am flying into SEA from ANC (Alaskan, Concourse C) arriving SEA at about midnight with a connecting flight on EVA Air (Satellite South) at 2am. Is this do-able? Do I need to collect bags/check in/clear security at SEA?

    1. If you bought both flights on one ticket, your bags will be automatically transferred; if not contact Alaska if they will make that transfer - if not, you would need to claim your bags & recheck them in with EVA before proceeding to the South Satellite. 2. To get from Concourse C to the South Satellite, take first the STS train to the Main Terminal , then cross over and take the train on opposite side to the South Satellite. (follow signs).

Would I need to clear security again?

I fly in from Victoria(YYJ) to Seattle on alaska airlines and arrive at 8:51 am and next flight on american airlines departs at 10:05 to Oakland. Is this enough time?

American Airlines does not fly from Seattle to Oakland, so both flights will actually be on Alaska. That isn't really enough time for your transfer, especially if you have checked bags as you will have to clear US Immigration and Customs in Seattle, then re-check bags, go through security, and to your departure gate in a different concourse. Without checked bags it's maybe possible.

  • Connections from YYJ to SEA to SAT, Alaska Air to United

I am flying from Victoria BC arriving SeaTac 4:45 via Alaska Airlines, then have to get a United flight to Houston departing 5:49 … worried about connections. Will I be able to make it?

That is not enough time as you have to clear US Customs and Immigration in Seattle, re-check your bag with United, go through security, and to your departure gate in another concourse. It's maybe possible if you don't check a bag.

  • Arrival from Canada (Alaskan) connection on to Emirates (Intl. flight)
    Jul 14, 2014

I arrive at SeaTac at 2:20pm from Victoria, BC and my next flight is Emirates departing at 5:45pm which gives me about 3hrs in transit. Do I need to claim baggage after arrival in SeaTac and go through Passport control and recheck the baggage to Emirates? Do both airlines operate on the same Terminal (south) since both are International flights? Which are my arrival and departure terminals? Will I have to switch terminals? Your help in clarifying this is much appreciated.

Yes, you will have to claim your baggage, to go through US Customs, then take it to the main Terminal and check it with Emirates. You will have to go to the main Terminal to re-check your bags with Emirates and get your Emirates boarding pass. The S Satellite is not a terminal, it's just a gate area with immigration facilities.

Thanks. So the emirates check-in is in the Main terminal. How long is the commute there? If my baggage is tagged all the way to my Final destination, do i still need to claim and re check it? thanks

The train to the main terminal after you clear US Immigration is maybe 5 minutes. Yes, you will still need to claim your baggage to go through US Customs, but you should be able to re-check it immediately afterwards if it is tagged through to your final destination, meaning if you already have your Emirates boarding pass you won't have to go to the main terminal. However, if you don't have your Emirates boarding pass, you will have to go to the main terminal to get it.

  • Domestic transfer at Seattle Airport: YVR-SEA-LAS
    Jun 28, 2014

I am going to travel from YVR to LAS via SEA. I will be arriving at Seattle at 6:48am(Horizon) and departing for Las Vegas at 7:50am(Alaska Airlines). I have only one hour in Seattle. Is it enough time to transfer? Do I have to take my luggage and re-register?

Go through US Customs clearance at YVR - you will then be a domestic arrival at SEA & simply transfer to your connecting gate, as bags will automatically be transferred. Note that Alaska uses Central Terminal Concourses C, D and Satellite North (N gates). I suggest you open www.ifly.com/sea, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text - paying attention to 'Connecting between Terminal & gates'.

I will be arriving on Alaska at 6:35 a.m. and need to connect to Hawaiian Airlines flight leaving at 10:00 a.m. How do I get to the concourse served by Hawaiian Airlines?

Hawaiian uses the S Satellite. Simply follow the signs to the S Satellite. There are a series of trains that connect the Alaska gates in C, D, and N to S. You should have plenty of time.

  • 45min transit time from SFO to SEA, and SEA to ICN -- All Delta
    Jun 24, 2014

Hello, I have 45 min transit time from SFO to SEA and SEA to ICN, all delta. It seems a tight schedule but is it possible to take the international flight within 45 min? Thanks,

Yes, it's possible. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and get on the plane. However, it doesn't leave much time for delays.

Your Delta flight arrives at Terminal 2 (T2), unless you departed from either LAX, SFO or SEA airports, where you would land at T4. Alitalia serves Terminal 1. The 'Airline Terminals Train' on the upper level (follow signs) runs counter-clockwise on average every 10 minutes. No time to waste!
