Thank you for answering my earlier question (re: LHR to YVR via SEA). I will be trying to change to a SEA layover of 3+ hours. New question: As a Canadian arriving from the UK and just passing through SEA to return to Canada, am I eligible to use the CPB automated passport kiosks to help spped things up? I have tried to search online for this answer but remain unclear as to whether the kiosk can be used for just-passing-through arrivals from countries other than Canada.

Canadians passport holders can always use the kiosks, regardless of they are visiting or transiting through the US.

I am travelling with 2 kids from Dubai to Seattle(Emirates) and have to board a flight at Seattle for San Francisco(Alaskan Airlines) within 2 hrs. I need to clear Immigration and Customs too. Let me know which terminal does Emirate land in, where do I need to go to clear customs and immigration and how do I reach the gate to board Alaskan Airlines. I am planning to do a through check-in for my baggages but I still need to clear customs and hand them over again.

Seattle only has one terminal. The flight from Dubai will arrive in the S Satellite. If both tickets are purchased on the same reservation, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags and go through security all on the lower level of the S Satellite, then you will take the underground trains to your Alaska gate in the C, D, or N concourse.

  • From Domestic Flight to International Flight

We (5 people) will travel from Denver to Seattle by Alaskan Air (arrive at 09.50 am) then we have a connecting flight from Seattle to Seoul by Korean Air (depart at 14.15pm). Will the time be enough for us to take our luggage from conveyor then heading to the international terminal then do all the procedures again (check in, immigration, etc). Kindly advise. Thank you.

There is no Immigration when leaving the US. If all tickets are on the same reservation all you have to do in Seattle on your way to Korea is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

This is all one ticket, I plan to not check baggage. Is 96 minutes enough time for this connection? Sounds like the SFO-SEA leg may not arrive at Terminal A, will that make a significant difference?

Seattle only has one terminal. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

  • LHR to YVR via SEA (single ticket)

Flight from LHR on Delta airlines, with 1 hour layover at SEA, then on to YVE on a Delta partner airline. Is that one hour enough to go through customs and make my YVR flight? Will I need to collect my checked bag at SEA and then re-check it in on the YVR flight after going through customs, or will it be transferred from the LHR flight to the YVR flight? Thanks!

Sorry about the typo above ... YVE should say YVR.

1 hour is not enough time for an International to International connection in Seattle. You need to contact whoever booked that ticket for you and have it changed to at least 2 hours.

flying from Honolulu with United -- have a 3 hour layover - is that enough time to get by bag - and recheck into SW airlines - not sure what terminals either of these airlines are in -- near or far?? ENOUGH TIME?

United does not fly from Honolulu to Seattle non-stop. Please double check your reservation.

correct -- there is a stop on this flight - i am still wondering if when i do reach SEATTLE is this enough time to collect my bag - and check into SW and get through security for my next flight in 3 hours?

Yes, that is enough time. Seattle only has one terminal.

  • American Airlines (AA) to Delta connection HOW?

My daughter's friend is coming to her wedding! She is flying on AA from Japan to DFW, where I assume she will go through customs. She then flies DFW to SEA on AA1349, arrival 12:40pm What does she need to do to connect to Delta flight 4795 (SEA to PSC) departing at 3:00 pm? Please tell me this is enough time? Her English is limited so we need to explain to her if/how to claim/recheck baggage, go through security again, etc. in advance - only we don't know any of it. Appreciate any help! Thanks.

All she has to do is follow the signs to the baggage claim for her AA flight, claim her baggage, then take it up to the departure level and take it to the Delta check-in desk and then go through security and to her Delta gate. She will have to pay a checked bag fee with Delta.

Will she have enough time to do all this?

  • ANC to SFO with connection in SEA

HI, I'm flying from ANC to SFO with a 1 hour connection in SEA with Alaska Airlines, is that enough? I'm not a US citizen and have previously flown in from the UK to the US, so will I have to clear customs again? Thank you

You do not have to go through customs on domestic connections, even if you aren't a US Citizen. That is enough connection time. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Flying SAN-SEA-YYC, 60m layover

Flying SAN-SEA-YYC, 60m layover Is that too ambitious? I'll be flying all on Delta and a single booking, but on Friday July 1 with Monday July 4 chasing it.

60 minutes should be fine. All you have to do in Seattle both ways is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Bottles of liquor in carry bag, how many times have to go in and out of custom in SEA

You will not go through customs or security in Seattle either way.

Hi! Delta sold me a ticket for next week.... 1st flight: Pasco to Seattle and 2nd flight from Seattle to Amsterdam. I have only 40 mnof connecting time! Is it possible to not miss my second flight?

It should be enough time if the flight from Pasco is on-time.

  • Dubai to Vancouver via SEA

I am going to fly into SEA on Emirates from Dubai and then connect with a flight to Vancouver on Air Canada. This will be on separate tickets. Do I need to go through TSA if I stay in Transit, and would I be able to check in for the Vancouver flight without leaving the transit area? Would 3 hours be enough for the connection time?

You cannot "stay in Transit" there are no sterile International to International connections in the US. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, put your bags on the belt to go to the main terminal, take the train to the main terminal, then claim your bags at the belt in the main terminal, then take your bags to the Air Canada check in desk and go through security and to your departure gate. 3 hours should be enough time.

Thanks for your response, this has cleared it up for me. It will be easier to drive to Vancouver.

  • Do I need to go thru security for a connecting flight in SEA

I am arriving in SEA on a Southwest flight and departing on a United flight. It looks like Southwest uses Concourse B gates and United is in the North Satellite. Can make this connection without going thru security screening?

United no longer uses the North Satellite. They use Concourse A. You can walk from B to A inside security. As long as you don't have checked bags you can make this connection without going through security.

Thanks so much for your help!!

I am traveling from Minneapolis to Dubai. I am taking Alaska airlines to Seattle and then Emirates to Dubai from Seattle. I guess I I'll get through checkin at MSP. I have 1 he 50 minutes. I am traveling with a child. Can you help me how to reach the emirates terminal and the process.

Seattle only has one terminal. You just have to go from your arrival gate in the D or N concourse to your departure gate in the S concourse using the underground trains.

  • Kelown to reno

I am trying to book a flight to Reno from Kelowna. All of the legal bookings entail a long layover between flights in Seattle. There is a flight out of Kelowna into Seattle with a 74 minute gap between the second flight into Reno. I cannot book this through the airline on one reservation because they say it should be at least 90 minutes between flights. Is it worth the gamble if I were to only take carry on and no checked luggage?

Immigration in Seattle is really overburdened lately. I wouldn't risk it.

Thank you for your swift reply. I just hate the idea of an 8 hour layover at Seattle airport! I would be happy to book with different airlines if I could narrow this gap on outbound journey from Kelowna to Reno, if you're aware of any other suggestions for routes and airline etc. please? Leaving from Kelowna and arrival in Reno are non flexible however, connections get airport is...

I think the only other option would be a double connection in Vancouver and San Francisco or Vancouver and Denver on Air Canada/United.

  • BA flight to Alaska Air 1.5 hours layover
    Apr 17, 2016

I am flying into Seattle with Ba and have 1.5 hours to get the Alaska Air to Kona. What is my best and quickest route?

If both tickets are on the same reservation you will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the underground train to your departure gate in C, D, or N. You barely have enough time if everything goes smoothly. If you have two separate reservations and checked bags you don't have enough time.

Thanks so much - I have rebooked on an earlier flight, as the last few have been an hour late and I know I was cutting it fine!
