Tommorrow i will take alasa airline flight from edmonton to Seattle and will arrive 7:02am. My next flight is on 2:38pm so I want to take train to pike market. I want to know when I should go back to the airport? Can I get out of the airport? How long to take the under train to the departure gate?

It takes 45 minutes to get from SEA to downtown on the light rail. You should get back to the airport 1 hr before your flight, so you should leave downtown around 12:45.

  • SEA to LHR

I'm going from PDX to SEA and then into London. IThere is 30mins from when I land at SEA to the time flight takes off for London - will I have enough time?? Do I have to collect my baggage and check in in again? Any idea how I get around the aiport please

If you purchased all your tickets together all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Seattle. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time if that's the case, but there's very little time to spare.

That's great thanks. I'm guessing my luggage minus my carry on which I will have will automatically be moved from the PDX flight to my London flight

  • Flying from LHR to Vegas via SEA
    Dec 3, 2014
Hi I am arriving from LHR with BA at 11.05am . My connecting flight is with Alaska at 1.30pm. I will have no checked luggage. Is this enough time to catch the Alaska flight to Vegas at 1.30pm ?

Yes, that is plenty of time. You can get your Alaska boarding pass online before you leave london and proceed directly to security and to your departure gate after you clear customs.

  • Flying from EWR (Newark) to ICN (Seoul-Incheon)
    Dec 3, 2014
Hi, I am flying from EWR to Sea-Tac by Alaska Airlines. Then I am connecting to Delta to ICN (Seoul, S.Korea). The stop over time is 70 minutes. I am wondering if it is enough time to go through all required process for the connection. The flights were bought together. In this case, do I need to collect my baggage, clear the security point, and re-cehck in? Thank you in advance,

There are no required processes. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate via the underground trains.

  • YYJ to san via sea

I'm flying from YYJ to SAN via SEA with alaska airlines. I think I will have to take the underground train at sea tac. Will I go through security before or after the train?

Since Victoria does not have US Immigration preclearance, You will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and take the underground train to the concourse of your departure gate to San Diego.

Hi. I am flying in from Spokane by Alaska Airlines to SEA. I am connecting to a Air Canada fliflght to Vancouver. The lay over time is 1hr 40mins. Is this enough time to collect baggage, clear security and check in to Air Canada? The flights were bought separately. I am a UK citizen. Not sure if that will make any difference

That should be enough time. Citizenship doesn't matter. You go through Canadian immigration in Vancouver.

  • Transfer time from Delta terminal to fly to Calgary by Air Canada
    Dec 3, 2014
I will be arriving Tacoma from an international flight and then will fly to Calgary by Air Canada. How much time should I allow for the connection, assuming I have to go through the U.S. Immigration, collect my luggage, re-check them in etc? What concourses are Delta and Air Canada? Thank you.

Seattle only has one terminal. Delta uses the S concourse for international arrivals. Minimum is 90 minutes if purchasing tickets together and 150 minutes if buying two separate tickets.

Hi Zap, thank you very much for your very helpful and concise information. I just wonder if you could help me to understand the concept of "tickets are bought together". Does it mean the two connecting flights are operated by different airlines (and therefore the logistic of transferring the luggage will take much longer)? If I buy the two connecting flights tickets separately but from the same airline, can it be considered as "bought together". Thank you very much in advance.

It is possible to join together two tickets bought from the same airline. But it can be difficult and the difficulty depends on the airline.

I have a 1h 44min layover time coming from vancouver, Canada. Wll that be enough time to get to the boarding gate?

I forgot to mention, I won't have any checked baggage, only carry-on.

Yes that should be plenty of time. You will preclear US immigration and customs in Vancouver .

  • 57 minutes connection time enough?
    Nov 8, 2014
I am flying from Miami to SFO to SEA to YYC Calgary, in the leg of SEA to YYC, (all on Alaska Airlines) there's only 57 minutes for connection, will there be enough time? On the booking site, it says there's often 30 min. delay from SFO to SEA! Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. Note that your MIA-SFO flight will be operated by American Airlines.

Thank you, and yes you're correct, thanks again.

  • SAN--> SEA --> YYJ
    Nov 4, 2014
I am travelling from san Diego to victoria, stopping over at seattle. It was all bought on one ticket. I am flying alaska airlines so all I will have to do at seattle is simply walk to my departure gate? On the way home I am flying from YYJ to SAN with a stop over in seattle. The flight numbers are alaska 2387 and alaska 484…so i will have to go through immigration, collect bags, go through customs and re check bag…but where do i re-check it? It is a ticket bought together straight from YYJ to SAN. Thanks!

oh i forgot to mention, i have a 3.5 hour stop over in seattle on the way there and the way back. Is this long enough?

Oh and since my ticket was booked together that means I don't need to re-check in at Seattle on the way home right?

On your way to Victoria you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Seattle. You will go through Canadian Immigration in Victoria. On your way to San Diego, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate to San Diego.

  • Customs check on layover to NRT
    Nov 3, 2014
Hi. I am travelling Delta Air from Vancouver to Japan with a stopover in Seattle. Does anyone know if I have to go through customs on my way to connection in Seattle

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Vancouver. Your arrival into Seattle will be like a domestic flight.

I have a 2.5 hour layover in seattle flying from PVG to MSP on Delta. Is 2.5 hours enough time to transfer? All flights on one ticket. Thanks

    Yes, that is enough time.

  • 1 hour layover
    Oct 31, 2014
We will be flying from new york to vancouver with a 1 hour layover in seattle. Is that enough time? All our tickets have been purchased together. Don't know if it makes a difference but we are both dutch citizens, so no us or canadian passport.

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, assuming you purchased a single reservation. You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Vancouver.

  • transfer to Calgary (Delta -> Alaska operated by Horizon)
    Oct 28, 2014
Hi. I will transfer from DL0198 to AS2118(operated by Horizon air). Should I re-check my baggage? And, how can I know the terminals and gates in advance?

You will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then you will re-check your bags at the transfer desk, assuming you bought both of your tickets together and your bags are tagged through to YYC. Then you will go through security and take the underground train to concourse C or the N Satellite where your flight to Calgary will depart.

  • transfer flight from Anchorage, AK to Asiana Airlines
    Oct 18, 2014
Will be arriving on Oct. 26 at 2 a.m. via Alaska Air from Anchorage, Alaska. From baggage claim area, how can we proceed to International Departure? My son will be taking Asiana Airline & I will be taking Korean Airlines. Thank you for your assistance

Alaska airlines has interline agreements with both those airlines, so you can ask the Alaska agent in Anchorage if they can check your bag through to your destination. If he or she can, then all you will have to do in SFO is to get your boarding passes and go to your departure gate. If you cannot, you will arrive in the same terminal as your departure (the international terminal, so you will just have to go upstairs to check your bags).
