I have a flight from Jet Blue that lands in Sea at 10am. I have a separate flight to YVR on Air Canada at 12:45. I need to collect my bags and recheck, go through security again. Will this be enough time?

Yes, it should be barely enough time if your JetBlue flight is on-time.

  • Seoul to SEA and connecting to PDX

My KA flight arrives SEA at 12:35 and there's a connecting flight from SEA to PDX at 2:30pm. Will I make it (considering i have to go through customs and re-check luggage)

Yes, that should be enough time assuming both tickets were purchased on the same reservation.

  • Houston (A9, United) - Narita (S16, ANA) in 40 minutes?
    Jul 7, 2015
Hi, United changed my arrival in SEA (A9) and now I have 40 minutes to transfer to ANA going to Narita leaving from S16. Is this possible? Do I have any security to go through? Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is possible if your flight from Houston is on-time. You just have to take the train from A to S. No security necessary.

Thank you Zap! Was wondering how often the trains run (ie. every 5 minutes?). Thanks again!

Which gate does Alaska Airline flight 682 use? How do I get to that gate from south satellite? Do I need to take the train, get off somewhere then take another train? Are all concourses connected by one train?

Alaska 682 could use a gate in C, D, or N. There is one train that connects S to A and B, and another train that connects N to C and D. A, B, C, and D are all directly connected to each other.

Hi! I'm Flying from LAX to Beijing with a connection in seattle. The entire itinerary is through Delta and I will have to connect from one delta flight in seattle to another. On the US to China leg of the itinerary, will I have to go through customs in Seattle or is it as simple as walking from my arrival gate to my departure gate? The layover is 1 hr 45 between flights. And same question for the return leg through Seattle--I assume I have to go through customs when I get off the flight in seattle before boarding the next flight to LA. We won't be checking bags since it is a shorter business trip. Anyone know the answer? Thanks in advance!

On your way to China, in Seattle, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There us no US Customs when leaving the US. On your return, in Seattle you will go through US Immigration, customs, and security and then to your departure gate to LAX.

I am due to arrive from London Heathrow into Seattle at 5.00pm and want to make a connection on Alaska Airlines to Boise which departs at 7.05PM. I will need to check my bag in at an Alaskan Airlines baggage drop but will have pre-printed a boarding pass and pre-paid for the check in of the bag. Will I have time to make the connection to Boise? Thanks

It's possible, but is really pushing it.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. Could I ask what the process would be regarding clearing immigration, then customs, picking up my bag and dropping it off again with respect to concourses and terminals at Seattle. Again, many thanks.

Also, would I be able to self tag my bag for my Alaskan Airlines flight to Boise and drop it off after customs clearance without going back to the main terminal to re-check my bag in the main departures area? Thanks again

No, you'd have to go to the main terminal area. You will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, put your bags on the train to the main terminal, go to the train to the main terminal, then re-claim your bags, then take them to the Alaska airlines counter and go through security and to your departure gate.

  • Enough time for check in

Hi there I will be travelling soon from Calgary to Karachi ..Calgary to Seattle on Alaskan air then Seattle to dubai to Karachi on emirates.i have a 2 hour layover in Seattle will I have to clear customs claim baggage and then recheck in again at emirates? Is 2 hours enough.plz help

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. In Seattle you will just have to go to the baggage claim in the main terminal, then take your bags to the Emirates check in counter, then go through security. You have enough time if your flight from Calgary is on-time.

  • JFK to SEA to YVR
    Jun 22, 2015
Hi if I have a Delta ticket from JFK to SEA, then an hour to get to my connecting SEA to YVR, will this be enough time? I believe my luggage will be checked through to YVR as it's one Delta ticket so it'll just be getting myself between planes in 1 hour (or less depending on how early they close the gate!).

Yes, that is plenty of time. Yes, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates in Seattle are connected inside security.

Fantastic, thank you for your help.

If the first flight is on-time, yes.

  • SMF to SEA then SEA to REK AND return
    Jun 21, 2015
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I have tickets booked already for SEA to REK. Now I need to book my tickets for SMF to SEA and return. I would like to make sure I allow enough time for customs, claiming my baggage and rechecking it, etc. Let's assume I am not able to have the bags booked through to SMF and I will need to claim the bag in SEA and upon clearing customs will need to follow the signs for passengers ending thier journey in Seattle instead of the one for connections. I'm currently looking at flying either Alaska or Delta from SMF to SEA and my flight to REK leaves Seattle at 3:30. What time should I plan to arrive in Seattle? On the return, from SEA to SMF. My flight from REK is set to arrive at 4:40. What time would be safe to plan a departure using either Southwest or Delta? This is such a helpful resource!! Many thanks.

On your way to Sacramento, I'd look for a flight at least 2.5 hours after your arrival in SEA. On your way back from SMF I think you could arrive at SEA 2 hours before your flight and be OK. You will have to claim and re-check your bags in the main terminal on both legs in Seattle because you are purchasing two separate itineraries.

  • Transit between YVR-SEA and SEA-NRT 1 hour - enough time?
    Jun 23, 2015
Hi, Please advise: Booked/purchased on same reservation (1 ticket number): Vancouver-Seattle on Alaska (Horizon-operated), 1-hour layover, then Seattle-Narita on ANA. Will 1 hour be enough time to go from N gate to S gate? Will I need to collect my bags and re-check-in in Seattle of my ANA flight? I don't think Alaska/Horizon and ANA are partners. Thanks for your help!

ANA cancelled their interline baggage agreement with Alaska in 2013. So yes, you will have to go to the main terminal to collect your bag and re-check it with ANA. You won't have enough time to do this. You need to get an earlier flight to Seattle or fly or drive in the day prior.

Ok that stinks! If I don't fly the yvr-sea portion, and drive instead (to make the connection), would I forfeit the rest of the ticket and not be able to fly at all? p.s. I called Alaska about this earlier and the agent was sure I would be able to check it all the way to Narita and not pick it up in Seattle to recheck in. He's wrong then?

Followup FYI: I called ANA and asked about their interline baggage policy with Alaska. I was told yes they did cancel it but it was "renewed" sometime ago, so yes the baggage can be checked through when checking in with Alaska. Alaska would not be able to issue ANA boarding passes though. Turns out the Alaska rep was right after all. Hope this helps someone.

  • 1hr Connection time
    Jun 20, 2015
I am arriving at Seattle from Calgary on a Delta flight at 18:20. My onward flight to London also with Delta is at 19:20. Is that enough time? Will I have to re-check baggage?

Correction: it's a SkyWest flight from Calgary to Seattle, booked through Delta.

I am arriving on Southwest at 12:50pm and must recheck my bag on Alaska for a 3:35pm flight to Anchorage (different tickets). Is this enough time, and where do I need to go to recheck the bag? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. Upon arrivals, just follow signs to baggage claim. Then once you get your bag, go up to the departure level and find the Alaska Airlines counter.

  • Enough time to make my connection?
    Jun 15, 2015
I am travelling from Toronto to Vancouver to Seattle to Fairbanks, and I have a 2.2 hour layover at Tacoma. Will that be enough time? Will I have to clear customs, claim and recheck bags prior to my departure in Seattle, or will that occur in Vancouver? Please advise, and thank you for your help!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, assuming all tickets were bought on a single reservation.

Yes, they were. Thank you for your prompt response!
