  • transfer to Calgary (Delta -> Alaska operated by Horizon)
    Oct 28, 2014
Hi. I will transfer from DL0198 to AS2118(operated by Horizon air). Should I re-check my baggage? And, how can I know the terminals and gates in advance?

You will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then you will re-check your bags at the transfer desk, assuming you bought both of your tickets together and your bags are tagged through to YYC. Then you will go through security and take the underground train to concourse C or the N Satellite where your flight to Calgary will depart.

  • transfer flight from Anchorage, AK to Asiana Airlines
    Oct 18, 2014
Will be arriving on Oct. 26 at 2 a.m. via Alaska Air from Anchorage, Alaska. From baggage claim area, how can we proceed to International Departure? My son will be taking Asiana Airline & I will be taking Korean Airlines. Thank you for your assistance

Alaska airlines has interline agreements with both those airlines, so you can ask the Alaska agent in Anchorage if they can check your bag through to your destination. If he or she can, then all you will have to do in SFO is to get your boarding passes and go to your departure gate. If you cannot, you will arrive in the same terminal as your departure (the international terminal, so you will just have to go upstairs to check your bags).

  • LHE to DXB to SEA to YEG
    Oct 18, 2014
I will be arriving from DXB, Emirates airlines to SEA and then connecting to YEG with Alaska airline. and i have 2 hr 40 min. do i need to recheck in my baggage and will i be able to do it in time. thanks.

Yes, you will have to claim your baggage to go through US Customs and then re-check it (at the re-check desk if your bags are tagged through to YEG, at the check-in counter if they are not). You should have enough time.

Thank you for the swift reply. I have 1 eTicket from start to destination. I will arrive at terminal 3 by Emirates. Where are the re-check and check-in counters and where i need to go to catch AS2584 flight for YEG.

Seattle doesn't have a terminal 3. You will arrive in the S Satellite where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then the re-check desk is right after that. Then you will go through security and take the underground trains to the C, D, or N concourse for your Alaska Airlines flight.

  • How to get to main terminal from bagage claim
    Oct 13, 2014
We will arrive at SeaTac next week on AS at 1:40PM and then will need to claim luggage at baggage claim. We will then need to get to the main terminal to check in with Icelandair for a 4:30PM international flight. I would sure appreciate specific information on how to get from baggage claim to the Icelandair counter which I assume is in the main terminal? Is there an elevator we can use for this process? Are the floors clearly marked? We are from a small rural town and large airports make us very nervous. Thanks for any help.

The Domestic baggage claims and All Check-In Counters are in the same building. Yes, there will be an elevator between floors.

  • D concourse to S Satellite
    Oct 7, 2014
Hi, What is the fastest way to get from Concourse D (Gate 10) to S Satellite (Gate S 12). Time between flights around 3 hrs. Baggage checked and tagged straight to my international destination. Thank you!

Just follow the signs to the underground train.

Hi! I am arriving from KEF(Icelandair) at Satellite S at 17:45pm, my connection flight to SAN (Alaska Airline) takes off at 19:55pm in Concourse C. Is it enough time to get there? (2hr 10 min). After clearing Immigration and Customs do I need to pick up my luggage and re-check it? If yes, where? (Does one pics up the luggage at S Satellite or elsewhere?) I understand once I re-check my luggage with Alaska I need to go through TSA check point again before boarding my plane to San Diego, correct? Any advise/reply will be highly appreciated.Thank you!

Yes, after Immigration, you will claim your bags and go through customs. You will still be in the s-satellite. If your bags aren't tagged through to SAN because you bought separate tickets you will have to then put your bag on a conveyer to go to the main terminal and ride a train to the main terminal to take it to the Alaska Airlines check-in counter. If it is tagged through to SAN you can re-check it in the S Satellite. Then you will go through security and take a train to your departure concourse. If your bags are tagged through to SAN it will be possible to make your connection but if they are not it will be very difficult to make your connection.

Thank you for the answer. I purchased one round trip ticket Icelandair Alaska so I hope my bag is going to be tagged to SAN...fingers crossed :)

  • connection time emirates between delta flights
    Sep 25, 2014
what is the minimum time required to change over to a delta flight from an emirates flight and vice versa. my route is DXB-SEA-SLC-SEA-DXB

purchased on a single ticket it would be 90 minutes to SLC and 60 minutes on the way to Dubai. If you are purchasing separate tickets, add another hour to that.

  • yyj to pvg via sea

Do I need to claim baggage in sea and recheck?

I'm flying from victoria bc on dl9148 to sea, then on dl589 to pvg.

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags, then go through security as YYJ does not have pre-clearance.

  • Delta connection
    Sep 15, 2014
I am flying to Seattle from Sacramento on a Delta Connection flight and have one hour to get to a Delta international flight to Amsterdam. Is that enough time? Are both in the same terminal?

Seattle has only one terminal but six different gate areas. Delta does not fly from Sacramento to Seattle, so that flight is likely operated by Alaska Airlines. All gate areas are connected inside security by walkways and underground trains. 1 hour should be enough time.

  • Baggage claim

i have a connecting flight in flying in form vancouver and the connecting flight is with emirates. will i hav to go through the baggage claim procedure?

Did you purchase your flight together or separately? You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver.

I will be arriving in seattle from minneapolis with a layover of 1 and 5 min, until my flight to hong kong. both flights are with delta. will i have enough time to get to my hong kong flight? will my arrival from minneapolis and departure to hong kong be in the same terminal?

Yes, that should be enough time. Seattle only has one terminal but six gate areas. Delta uses two different gate areas, however both flights will likely be in the S satellite.

Delta uses the South Satellite for both flights. All you need to do is look at overhead screens & find your connecting gate.

  • connection to Tokyo (Narita)
    Sep 9, 2014
I will be flying into Seattle from Minneapolis on Delta and then connecting on to fly to Tokyo (Japan) on Delta. Questions: I am guessing I will need to recheck my bags, yes? The layover time is only 1 hour. With the rechecking of the bags and going through immigration, will that be enough time?

You do not have to re-check bags or go through US Immigration when leaving the US. All you have to do in MSP is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 1 hour should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

sorry Misread your post, replace "MSP" with "SEA" - you will only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Seattle.

Thanks. It's been a while since I've been back to the US. All countries I've visited in Asia require you to exit the country through immigration. I forgot that the US doesn't. I wonder how the catch visa over-stayers/

The airlines send immigration their passenger lists with their passport #'s. That's how they know who is leaving without them having to go through exit immigration.

  • Vanc-SEA-London connections

I arrive in Seattle from Vancouver with 45 minutes connection time between scheduled landing and scheduled take-off. Is that enough time (assuming no delays) for transfer to international flight, including luggage? Seems tight.

If your tickets were purchased together it should be enough time.

  • Layover
    Sep 6, 2014
I am looking at a flight from Vancouver, Canada, which leaves me with an hour layover at SEATAC to make my outbound connection for Amsterdam with Delta. It seems as the inbound delta flight from YVR uses the B gates, and the outbound Delta flight is S gates. Baggage should be handled as it is all Delta, and typically you have to pre-clear customs in Vancouver prior to departure. 1) Will I be able to make it?

Yes, you will preclear US Immigration in Vancouver, an hour should be enough time.

Hello! I'm flying from DEN to SEA on a Delta codeshare flight operated by Alaska, then I have a two hour layover to board a Delta flight to Incheon. My questions are: 1.) Is this enough time? 2.) Will I arrive at the Alaska terminal and then go over to international at the S terminal? and 3.) Will I have to recheck my baggage between Alaska and delta? Thanks very much!

Yes, that should be enough time. Seattle only has one terminal. You will just have to change concourses to the S Satellite. You will not have to do anything with your baggage.
