Hello, My family's flight from LHR was rescheduled for two hour later than booked. Will 2 hours be enough time to arrive in SeaTac, go through customs, and then recheck bags for our flight to SJC? We have a young 86 year old traveller in our group. Thank you
That should be enough time if both flights are on the same reservation. if it's two separate reservations you should probably try to change it.
Thank you for the peace of mind.- The flights are on the same reservation.
Hi - Our party of 6 is flying Delta from Vancouver to Atlanta with a connection in Seattle. We'll each have one checked bag. Layover in SEA is 1 hr 26 mins - will this be enough time to clear customs and connect? Thanks!
You pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.
Hi, I'm a British citizen arriving from London Heathrow. Our airline has changed the flight time, we now land at 15:55 at Seattle and need to connect to Alaska airlines flight at 17:40. Is this enough time?
That's still enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thank you ZAP. Can you confirm if we are able to recheck our baggage on the the Alaska airlines flight in the international terminal?
I'm flying in via Delta airlines from south terminal, which terminal do i go to catch my connecting flight to Vancouver, and do I have to pick up my luggages and re check in to the flight to Vancouver? Thanks
Seattle only has one terminal S is a concourse. Where are you flying into Seattle FROM?
Flying in from Japan on monday 28th.
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.
Hello everyone, I've looked around the internet and on the Seatac website but either found conflicting info or not specific enough information. So I will try here and see what the consensus is!
If I am arriving from Europe to Seattle and connecting on to Vancouver must I collect my bags and go through US security after my arrival? I'm booked on Delta all the way through so I feel like my bags should be checked to YVR but would there be a need for customs and security even if I am transiting? The info I find online refers to domestic connections.
I don't recall ever doing an international connection like this so I'd like to know what to expect. I have about 1 hour 45min to connect so this should be ok if I need to go through more lines. :)
I'm curious if some airports (due to design) allow people to stay in the "international" area and avoid a 2nd round of security?
Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. YOu have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Is that common at other airports? Seems unnecessary if I'm not "officially" entering the US. I'm just transiting through an airport...is it due to the design of SeaTac?
You have to do this at every airport in the US.
No airports in the US have sterile transit zones for International to International transits.
Oh well, it is what it is. I'll remember that for future bookings. Thanks for the info!
Flying delta from portland to Seattle tomorrow, arrive 12:23 but my Air France flight for Paris departs at 1:11. Have no idea if and how I can make this connection. Never realized how close they cut it when I booked. I assume I go through customs in Paris?!
Yes, you go through Customs in Paris, there is no US Customs when leaving the US. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.
will be arriving in SEATAC at 5am (hopefully) from Alaska Horizon from Fairbanks on Sept. 13. Connect with Southwest at 6:35. Didn't realize as I usually book with 1 airline that i'd have to pick up bags, recheck and then head off to Southwest gate. My mother uses a wheelchair so we will have someone with us to navigate but was wondering if we will have enough time to make the Southwest flight. If we do miss our flight, do we have to pay a fee/higher fare to catch the next one available considering it was my fault? thanks for any assistance anyone can give :)
It's possible but leaves no time to spare. Southwest doesn't charge change fees so you could just change your Southwest flight now.
