  • What to do in layover time

Hi, I have 5hour layover at SEA before i take emirates to dubai. I will be fying from SLC in Alaska airlines. What is the best way I can spend my time. Can i leave the airport after checking my baggage and go sight seeing at seattle for about 3 hours.

The Emirates check-in counter will probably not open until about 3 hours before your flight, so you will not be able to check your bags when you arrive. It takes 45 minutes each way to get from the airport to any sights you would want to see, so you would have very little time to see anything.

    Thanks ZAP. That was useful.

  • Underground tram

I am very claustrophobic and will be flying from NY to Seattle in January. I see that I may need to use an underground tram to get to main terminal. Are there any other options? Thank you.

There are no other options if you arrive in the S or N Satellite. You'll have to suck it up and deal with it if you arrive at one of those concourses. Your only way to avoid it is to fly an airline that does not use those concourses, the airlines that don't use N or S are American, JetBlue, Southwest, Sun Country, United, US Airways, and Virgin America. All of those would at least offer a single connection itinerary between NY and Seattle and American, JetBlue and United offer non-stops.

Thanks very much. I tried to find a phone number for the airport related to "medical" or "disability" but no luck. I will check out the airlines you suggest.

  • transfer from Alaska Air to Korean Airlines Departure area

Good day. I will be arriving from Anchorage, AK via Alaska Air on Nov. 2 5 a.m. and I have flight via Korean Air on Nov. 2 12:p.m. Can you help me to locate Korean Air departure area. Thanx

The Korean flight will leave from the S Satellite. You will arrive at the C or D concourse or N Satellite. If you purchased separate tickets and have checked baggage you will have to go to the main terminal to claim your bags and then take them to the Korean check-in counter.

I am flying KLM/Delta to Amsterdam. My incoming flight is KLM/Delta from Salt Lake and I have a 1hr transfer time. Is this enough?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Do I have to enter the U.S. to check in with ANA and get boarding pass for Tokyo - NH1077? Or do I stay within secure area on arrival from YVR?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Vancouver, so your arrival into Seattle will be like a domestic flight. Did you purchase separate tickets? If so you will have to exit the secure area to claim your bags, re-check them with ANA, and then go back through security and to your departure concourse. If you purchased a single ticket then your bags will be checked through to Tokyo and you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I will have NO checked bags.

In that case if you can get your ANA boarding pass before hand you can go directly from your arrival gate to your departure gate in S Satellite.

  • Seattle to Denver via Inchon

I am flying into Seattle from Inchon South Korea. I booked a separate flight on United the same day. I arrive at 1:10pm and then my domestic flight is at 5:00pm. Is that enough time to get through immigration, recheck in, security etc? thanks

You will arrive at the South Satellite of SEA, where you will go through immigration clearance, pick up checked luggage, continue to customs (taking 30-60 minutes), then re-check-in your bags and go through TSA security screening prior to proceeding to your connecting flight. ( If you have duty-free liquid items, put them in our checked luggage to prevent confiscation at the security checkpoint.) United uses both the North Satellite (gates N1-6) & Concourse A (gates A1-14.) A shuttle train runs between N & S gates, and between the South Satellite and the main terminal. As you bought 2 separate tickets, you may need 2 boarding passes. You have plenty of time.

DEARS I HAVE THE BELOW FLIGHT: BA 049 28JUN LONDON SEATTLE 15:05 16:40 09:35 AS 2627 28JUN SEATTLE PORTLAND 19:15 20:02 00:50 DO I HAVE ENOUGH CONNECTION TIME IN SEATTLE FOR IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES

Yes, that should be plenty of time to make your connection.

JetBlue uses Terminal 5 /T5 (and may sometimes use T4); Air Berlin uses T8. International Arrivals need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance. Since you bought separate tickets, you will need to take your bags thereafter along to the connecting terminal, proceed to the Departures level & check it in with JetBlue; then proceed through security check on to your connecting gate. The 'Airline Terminals Train' on the upper level (follow signs) runs counter-clockwise between all terminals, on average every 10. minutes. After baggage re-check-in at T8 go through security check & on to your connecting gate. A 2-hr transfer time is advisable, but your afternoon arrival/departure may help you get to your connecting gate in time.

Situation 1- Arrive at SEA from YVR via Alaska Airlines with 2 hours and 33 mins to connect to Delta flight to ICN. Not sure whether to have checked bags or not. Situation 2- Arrive at SEA from ICN via Delta with 1 hour and 15 mins to connect to another Delta flight to YVR. Is this enough time, do I have to claim checked bags and re-check them again? Situation 3- Arrive at SEA from ICN via Delta with 1 hour and 55 mins to connect to Alaska Airlines to YVR. Enough connecting time? Have to claim checked bags? Thanks

  • is one hour enough time to get from southwest to alaska air

arriving on southwest air may 10th 1:40 pm .. flight to victoria bc on Alaska Air leaves at 2:20 . This gives an hour to get to AA flight, is this enough time? thanks

That's only 40 minutes. It's possible if you have no checked bags, but impossible if you have checked bags. You will need to check in for your Alaska flight online before you depart on your first flight. If there's any delay you will miss your connection and Alaska Airlines will be of no obligation to rebook you.

thanks so much for your help ZAP, and for the math correction! and for the reminder that AA has no obligation to rebook for me. be well

Traveling on Alaska Airlines, arriving in Seattle at 4:05 pm, and planning to share a taxi with someone arriving on Southwest Airlines at 4:00 pm. Where meet after we claim our luggage to get a taxi?

AT SEA, Alaska uses Satellite North, and Concourses C & D, while Southwest uses Concourse B - Concourses A, B, C & D are connected at post-security, enabling passengers to freely move around without having to leave the secured area. Satellite N (N gates) is linked to the main terminal's North station by continuously running underground loop trains. Best place to meet: Baggage claim level, Arrivals Hall.

  • 1 hour connection time in SEA: domestic Alaska to International Delta

Please help.Delta airlines is offering me a flight on October 27 from San Francisco to Osaka through SEA as follows: DL9122 (operated by Alaska) arrives in SEA at 11:16 a.m. DL183 to Osaka departs at 12:20 p.m. There is only 1h4' transit time from domestic (Alaska) to international (Delta). Do you think this is reasonable ? I will be able ti check my luggage directly to Osaka from San Francisco ? Please help. Cheers, CM

Yes, you will be able to check your bags all the way though to Osaka. If your first flight is on-time you will be OK however you will have to hurry. You will arrive in C, D, or N and depart from S. You might want to look at United's non-stop SFO-Osaka flight if you're worried too much about the connection.
