Iam coming from Sri lanka by Qatar airways to JFK.If i buy one way ticket to JNU form JFK am I have to check my baggage again at Seattle..? Lay over time is 55 minutes...

If both flights JFK-SEA-JNU are both on the same reservation you do not have to claim your bags and re-check them again in Seattle.

Just over an hours connection. Do you know what gates/area we land and have to go to connect?

The gates will likely be in A or C. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Seattle. You have enough time.

    Thanks

Arriving from Anchorage into Seattle, Alaska Air. Departing one hour later for Lax Enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you very much, taken the pressure away somewhat. Thankyou

We are flying in from San Diego on Delta and have 35 minutes to get to our Delta flight to Victoria. How will we do this?

You walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate and hope that your flight from San Diego is on-time and that the gates are close together. It's possible but leaves no room for anything to go wrong.

  • Victoria to Boston customs question

I have been left with a 1 hour+ connection from Victoria to Boston, all same reservation, all under Alaska Airlines. I see that Vancouver pre-clears; is this true for direct flights from Victoria as well? Seems too tight for an international connection... Thanks!

No, that is not true for Victoria. How big is the "+" on your 1+? I recommend close to if not at least 90 minutes.

Thanks - I was afraid of that. It's only 1 hr+10 minutes at this point.

Do we clear US customs in Kelowna or do we clear customs in Seattle? Do we have to pick up our baggage in Seattle then transfer them on to the next flight? We are flying Alaska all the way.

Kelowna doesn't have preclearance. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security in Seattle.

I'm flying from yyj to Minneapolis with a layover at SEA from 1:30pm-3:30pm. I will have to clear customs but I don't have any checked luggage. Will I have to go back through security? Also, any idea how long it should take?

Yes, you will still have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. I would want at least 80 minutes for this transfer, so you have enough time.

I'm flying from Vancouver to Spokane, with 45 minute transfer in SEA, is that enouh to make it through customs? I'm European citizen and only carry on luggage.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in Seattle is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

I'm not familiar with the layout of SEA, so forgive me for such a simple question. IS 40 minutes layover time enough for me coming in from Redmond Or headed to Vegas all on Alaska?

Yes, that's possible. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

from hong kong back to canada fly with delta with connection in seattle, do i need to take the checked bags to go through custom, only have one hour 20 minutes time connection time

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. That is a very difficult connection.

why i need to go thro US custom for i am a canadian and just take connection in seattle

Because everybody does when they transit the US. It's a federal law. if you don't like it, then don't transit the US. There are several nonstop flights from Hong Kong to Canada.

so which gate i will arrive and leave in which gate

You will arrive in the S concourse and depart from S, A, or B. (likely A or B).

    thanks for your help

  • Baggage storage in airport

Hi, I have a 7 hours layover time in Seattle, and would like to head out to the city for a couple of hours. I've planned to leave my luggage at Ken's Baggage and Storage, and noted that it is located within the baggage claim area. Is this before or after security check? Since it is within the baggage claim area, how do I get back to them to collect my luggage? I'll have to check in to Alaska Airlines for my next flight to Fairbanks, how far is the distance or duration needed to get from Ken's to the Alaska Airlines counter for check-in? Thank you!

The domestic baggage claim is accessible by the public. It should take less than 10 minutes to get from baggage storage to the Alaska check-in desk.

How early should I arrive if my flight is at 630am? I've never flown out of SeaTac before.

4:30-5 AM should be sufficient. closer to 4:30 if you have to check bags.

  • Short Layover in SEA Between San Diego and Edmonton
    Aug 30, 2016

In October, I will be flying from San Diego to Edmonton via Seattle. How can I tell if I will clear customs in Seattle or Edmonton? If Edmonton, is 40 minutes enough of a layover (if the arriving flight is on time)?

There is no US Immigration when leaving the US. you will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs when you get to Edmonton. All you do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 40 minutes is possible.

  • LAX to HKG via SEA

I will be flying Alaska from LAX to SEA and then transfering to Delta to HKG. I will have 1 hour only for connecting the flight. Following are my questions. 1. Will I have to claim my bags when arriving in SEA and recheck-in again at Delta counter? 2. Will I have to go through the security check at SEA again? 3. Will I have enough time connecting the flights? Thank you so much for your time.

Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations?

They are on 2 separate reservations. If I will have to recheck the bags and go through security check at SEA, how many hours before should I at least be at the check in counter? Thank you.

Yes, if you purchase two separate reservations you need to do all that and you need at least 2.5 hours on your way to HKG and 3 hours on the way back.

    Thank you for your replies!

  • Connecting Flights
    Aug 9, 2016

We are flying from Edmonton, Ab (YEG) to San Diego (SAN) on Aug12th. We have a 45 min connection in Seattle (SEA), 7:00 to 7:45 am. Will that be enough time to make our connection? Will we have to change terminals and how far approximately will the gates be? (booked on same reservation)

Yes, that should be enough time. Seattle only has one terminal. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Edmonton. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Great to hear! Thank you for your very quick reply!
