  • Burbank - Seattle - Victoria
    Jun 10, 2015
I'm traveling from Burbank to Seattle (and then to Victoria, BC) via Alaska Airlines. Upon arrival in Seattle do I need to grab baggage and recheck for departure to Victoria, BC or will they be transferred? I think maybe I only need to do this on the return flight from Victoria, BC to Seattle?

On your way to Victoria you will just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Seattle. On the way back is when you will go through immigration, claim and recheck your luggage and go through security.

At which airport will I go thru U.S. immigration?

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Seattle.

Hi, I am flying from Vancouver via seattle to Beijing, and my tickets are booked from the same airline. Do I need to claim the baggages in seattle?

No, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver and not have to claim your baggage in Seattle on your way to Beijing.

  • Will I make my flight?

I am flying from DIA to SEA on Alaska Airlines and then need to get to Delta Airlines for a flight to NRT. I only have one hour between flights - will I make it?

If your tickets were purchased together that should be enough time. You just have to take the underground train from C, D, or N where you will arrive to S where you will depart.

  • Custom time from Korea

Flying from Korea to Seattle and then from Seattle to Houston on separate ticket. How long will it take to clear customs and recheck bags to make next flight to Houston? initial flight gets in from Korea at 9am. I am military as well moving duty stations.

Since you're buying two separate tickets, you will have to go to the main terminal to claim your baggage and re-check it. I would leave at least 2.5 hours between flights.

I am flying Vancouver to London via Seattle then on to Bilbao Spain on one ticket. Do I have to pick up baggage in London and clear customs?

No, you will not have to claim your luggage in London. Whether you will have to go through passport control or not depends on what terminals your flights arrive and depart from.

  • International traveler from Vancouver transit at Seattle to Taiwan
    Mar 6, 2015
I am a non-US citizen planning to travel from Vancouver transit at Seattle to Taiwan. Two tickets are booked separately and with two different air lines, Delta and EVA. Questions: 1. For the baggage, will it be all the way through from Vancouver to Taiwan without picking up from Seattle and check back in. 2. For the immigration/Custom check, Do I need to pass immigration/Custom check at Seattle, or will I be pre-immigration/custom check at Vancouver, so I don't have to do it again at Seattle.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. However, as you are booking two separate tickets, you will have to go to the baggage claim in the main terminal to claim your bags, then bring it to the EVA check-in counter to check to your final destinaton. As such I recommend at least 2 hours for this transfer.

  • Wheelchair Assistance
    Feb 11, 2015
If I have booked wheelchair assistance with my Airline for when I arrive from the UK, does that assistance stop once I have got my luggage or does it continue onto the light rail and on to the main exit?

It ends once you get your luggage, it presumes you have your own wheelchair if you need one that will be traveling as checked baggage.

What procedures need I go through? depart LONDON HEATHROW arrive SEATTLE - Depart SEATTLE - AIR ALASKA to SPOKANE. I have almost 2 hours in which to complete this. Y

You will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, collect your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. Then you will go through security and take the underground trains to your departure concourse.

Thank you, I am quite deaf and in my 70's, will I have plenty of time for these procedures and would there be help at hand? - 2 hours?

I am a canadian travelling alaska from hawaii to canada via seattle. Is 40 min enough connection time? Will i need to collect my luggage? Tnx!

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do in Seattle is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your flight is late and you miss your connection Alaska has very frequent flights from Seattle to Vancouver.

  • What to do in layover time
    Dec 10, 2014
Hi, I have 5hour layover at SEA before i take emirates to dubai. I will be fying from SLC in Alaska airlines. What is the best way I can spend my time. Can i leave the airport after checking my baggage and go sight seeing at seattle for about 3 hours.

The Emirates check-in counter will probably not open until about 3 hours before your flight, so you will not be able to check your bags when you arrive. It takes 45 minutes each way to get from the airport to any sights you would want to see, so you would have very little time to see anything.

    Thanks ZAP. That was useful.

  • Underground tram
    Nov 5, 2014
I am very claustrophobic and will be flying from NY to Seattle in January. I see that I may need to use an underground tram to get to main terminal. Are there any other options? Thank you.

There are no other options if you arrive in the S or N Satellite. You'll have to suck it up and deal with it if you arrive at one of those concourses. Your only way to avoid it is to fly an airline that does not use those concourses, the airlines that don't use N or S are American, JetBlue, Southwest, Sun Country, United, US Airways, and Virgin America. All of those would at least offer a single connection itinerary between NY and Seattle and American, JetBlue and United offer non-stops.

Thanks very much. I tried to find a phone number for the airport related to "medical" or "disability" but no luck. I will check out the airlines you suggest.

  • transfer from Alaska Air to Korean Airlines Departure area
    Oct 28, 2014
Good day. I will be arriving from Anchorage, AK via Alaska Air on Nov. 2 5 a.m. and I have flight via Korean Air on Nov. 2 12:p.m. Can you help me to locate Korean Air departure area. Thanx

The Korean flight will leave from the S Satellite. You will arrive at the C or D concourse or N Satellite. If you purchased separate tickets and have checked baggage you will have to go to the main terminal to claim your bags and then take them to the Korean check-in counter.
