I am a US citizen. I will arrive from LHR on BA at 11:15am. I will need to transfer to an Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air flight 2163 at 1:30pm, heading to PDX. I am trying to book the Alaska Airlines flight on the same ticket at the BA flight but it may end up being two separate tickets. Presumably in either case I will need to clear customs, get my bags and recheck my bags and then go to board the flight. Is 2 hours 15 minutes enough time? Do you know where I will arrive on flight BA 53, and where will I need to go in the airport to retrieve and recheck the bags and then to go board Alaska/Horizon flight 2163? I did something similar many years ago but can't remember the details and am not sure what has changed.
If it's the same reservation then that is enough time. If it's two separate reservations it's not. You will arrive in the S Satellite and all the procedures will be in the basement of the S Satellite. You will depart from C or D.
How long does it typically take to receive your bags from a flight originating from YYJ Victoria and recheck at SEA before being able to head to the connecting gate? Is an hour and 10 minutes enough time?
That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
We are US Citizens, flying from ATL to SEA, then changing planes to Victoria, BC....Delta all the way.
We would only have 40 minutes on the ground in Seattle, will we have to go thru customs in Seattle, or will that be in Victoria?
We have not yet booked the flights because I worry about turnaround time.
Thank you.
You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Canada. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Seattle is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.
Thank you.....
Hi I am a New Zealand citizen. I will be arriving in Seattle from Iceland at 5.45 pm and catchiing a connectiing Alaska Air Flight to Hawaii departing at 7.20 pm. Will I have to go through US immigration in Seattle or can I do this in Hawaii? If I have to go through immigration in Seattle will this leave me enough time? Thanks.
Yes, in Seattle you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags with Alaska, and then go through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
I am Canadian and have Nexus (trusted traveller) card ... How do I make use of this to expedite my way thru Seatac ? I arrive from Victoria BC and depart for Detroit enroute to La Guardia . I have carry-on bag only. My departure is scheduled for one hour and forty minutes after arrival . Flying Delta from Victoria , then Alaska Airlines to Detroit . Thanks for your help.
There will be a NEXUS line in the Immigration Hall in Seattle. Print out your Alaska boarding pass online before leaving Canada to access the boarding gates directly after you clear customs. Otherwise you have to take the train to the main terminal to get your Alaska boarding passes.
I will be flying in to Seatac from Bellingham on a prop plane with a la carte baggage service. Then taking a Delta international flight. Where can I ckeck in my baggage for the flight, since I have already gone through security in Bellingham? Thanks.
If you want to check bags for the Delta flight you will have to leave security in order to do so.
Flying in from Iceland to SEA on Icelandair, then catching a domestic connection on Delta. Is 50 minutes enough time to get through customs and get connecting flight? Thanks
No, that is not enough time.
I may have to get my boarding passes at my connection in SEA. Where are the United Airline ticket counters located and how do I get to Concourse A from there?
My arrival gate will be N11 at SEA.
The united ticket counters are in the main Terminal. Concourse A is just after you clear security, to your left.
How do I get to the main terminal from the north satelite?
You take a train, there are plenty of signs pointing the way to the baggage claim.
I am flying with my wife and daughter from Heathrow to Seattle for a 2 HR 25 Min Layover. Then we are on another flight to Hawaii under the same reservation. We are American citizens. When we land will we have to claim our luggage and go through security etc?? or can we stay in the terminal and just wait to board our next flight.

Our first flight is a Virgin atlantic flight then we board a virgin atlantic flight operated by delta, but still under the VS flight code so it is a virgin atlantic flight. I have no idea what terminal we will land in and take off from or if that matters.
Also will this 2HR 25Min be sufficient regardless of how we hand CBP and boarding etc.
Seattle only has one Terminal. Your second flight is a Delta flight. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You will arrive in Concourse S and Delta flights depart from A, B, and S. You have enough time.
Wow, Thank you for the quick response.

When you say Re-Check my bags with the Re-Check Desk, I would go to the Delta Baggage Checkin? Or there will be an area actually called Re-Checked Luggage?
It's actually a re-check desk right after customs.
Anybody know how long it takes to clear customs nowadays? I'm an American expat taking my Norwegian husband to visit family for the first time.
Nothing at US Immigration or Customs has materially changed.
