Main Terminal / Concourses at Sharm el-Sheikh SSH Airport

Sharm el Sheikh Ophira Airport has presenty of two terminals, the new T1 & the old T2 (while the new T3 is will open 2015).

Terminal 1 opened in 2007, is the international terminal, which can handle up to 8 million passengers per annum. Its 40 check-in counters are for passenger traffic from international (with some exception) and chartered flights. The terminal has three components--two halls shaped in circular fashion and featuring an airy, tent-like roof representing Beduin culture, with a space in between referred to as 'the boat' which serves as passenger transit hub for passport control, duty free shops, restaurants & cafes and VIP areas.  NOTE: the duty-free store had closed early January 2015 for renovation.
Terminal 2 is the domestic terminal with a capacity of 2.5 million passengers a year, was completely overhauled in 2004, and is now host to Air Berlin, Air Cairo, Eurofly & Livingston Airlines, among others.
Amenities & services inside the two terminals include restaurants & cafes, WiFi internet access, post office, currency exchange, souvenir and convenience shops, cloakrooms, rental car counters, pay phones for international calls,
Check-in service starts 3 hrs prior to departure and ends one hour before departure.
International passengers pas through passport control and customs. An entry permit for Egypt is available in the Arrivals area.

Terminal 3 - expected to open during 2015 - will house a departure & an arrival hall for both domestic & international flights.  Its innovative roof will shade the departure area and bring in natural light.
On the lower level of the departure hall will be shops, duty-free area & baggage handling facilities - with offices, cafe & corridors in the central area.
The ground level of the departure hall will house the passport check area, check-in hall, and public departure hall & offices - while the central area will house the immigration hall, food & drink concessions, offices and restrooms.
On the lower level of the arrivals hall is the baggage handling facility with support services.
The ground level will house a public arrival hall, visa processing room, international & domestic baggage claim facility, customs area & offices.
Level 1 will house VIP lounge & cafeteria.

Sharm El Sheikh Airport contact:  within Egypt: tel. (069) 360 1140 - outside of Egypt tel. +20 69 360 1140.
Getting into town takes 20 minutes by either publicmni-bus or prepaid taxi.

NOTICE:  A recent post quoted that of the 20 security desks only 3 had been staffed & it took 95 minutes from arriving at terminal to departure area.  Also, baggage belts are not marked for airlines, so there is confusion as to which belt to watch;  the various queue lines make you believe you need a visa - you don't (not for Sharm, only for south Sinai & Cairo).  At departures you go through 3 security checks done by arrogant staff.
