Tashkent International TAS Airport Overview
Tashkent International Airport TAS (or Toshkent Xalparo Aeroporti Janubiy), with a ICAO Category II certification, serves the City of Tashkent, in Uzbekistan, and isat present the largest Airport in Central Asia.
The Airport is located 12 km from the city center of Tashkent.

With two long runways and an estimated 2 million passengers a year, Tashkent International Airport is hub to Uzbekistan Airways (which accounts for its main air traffic), and is also served by Russian Federation airlines and a few Asian and European airlines, offering direct and connecting flights throughout the world.
The Uzbekistan Airways can be reached in Tashkent at tel. (998) 71 140 0200; in Moscow at tel. (495) 229 3913.
NOTE: You need to arrive at the Airport 3 hours prior to scheduled departure, due to the long check-in procedure. Baggage exceeding 20 kilos is being charged extra.
Tashkent International Airport has three terminals: Tashkent International (T2) and Tashkent Domestic (T3) and the Transfer Terminal.. The Domestic terminal also offers flights to the ancient cities of Samarkand, Bukhara & Khiva.) Note: Tavelers have pointed out that travel to Samarkand should be done by rail, rather than using a taxi. A class upgrade for the train journey is inexpensive and safe.
Services and amenities inside the terminal complex include: an Information desk (tel. +998 71 066 or +998 71 1402801), CIP and VIP halls, restaurant & bar, shops, currency exchange and ATM banking, a post office, duty free shops (also sell telephone cards), airlines ticket counters, baggage wrapping and baggage storage, lost & found office, a children's playground, medical center, and a barber shop.

A so-called booking office (tel. +998 71 233 3459) located in the airline offices on level 2, addresses reservations or cancelations, and other fight-related inquiries.

To get from Tashkent Airport to your destination, you can take a taxi, a minibus or a bus: Minibuses to the Metro leave, once they are full. An Express bus runs every 10 minutes between the Airport and the Metro station.
Future developments of Tashkent Airport: It is planned to convert the current airport into a major international hub for transcontinental routes. Furthermore, in 2012 the Government has conducted a feasibility study and considers relocating Tashkent Airport to the Jizzakh area, 45 km to south of Tashkent, by 2030.
