I will be departing from YOW to YYZ with Westjet on May 19th of the present year then from YYZ to POP (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic) with a layover of 1 hour. I will not bring any carry on bags just a huge bag which I will be checking in YOW. Do I have to pick up my luggage and drop it off before my next flight to POP if I only have a layover of 1 hour? Or will Westjet be in charge of transferring my bag to the next plane? The tickets are with the same airline

No, you will not have to pick up your bag in YYZ on your way to POP. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • separate tickets, 3.5 hours in between?

I'm considering flying from Winnipeg with Westjet to Toronto to catch a flight with Transaero that ultimately hits Kazakhstan via VKO. But booking with separate tickets due to some complicated circumstances. Will be flying with a baby, looks like Westjet and Transaero use the same terminal at Pearson; is 3.5 hours safe wiggle room or should I opt for the 5:30 AM departure time instead and leave myself 7 hours?

3.5 hours should be plenty of time.

  • SFO - YYZ - MXP 1:30 connection time

I am flying from San Francisco to Milan MXP via Toronto. I have a 1:30h connection time between flights before departing for MXP. Both flights are operated by Air Canada. Is it enough time? Will I have to go through canadian customs, get my luggage and pass security again? What if I miss the flight? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. You may have to go through Canadian Customs, it depends where you arrive. Just follow the signs.

  • Winnipeg to Newark, NJ - Connection in YYZ

I'm considering an Air Canada flight that connects in YYZ with a 1hr, 49min layover. But I'm travelling alone with my 3 yr old son. When I go through customs in YYZ will I have to physically move my checked bags at any point? Will I have enough time to move to a different terminal and go through customs? Thanks very much for any imput!

You will have to claim your bags during the US Customs preclearance process, carry them through customs and immediately re-check them. I think that should be plenty of time.

I will be arriving in YYZ from CMH with a connecting flight to LHR. I have one hour between flights. I will NOT have bags to check only one carry on. what is the first thing I should do when i get off the plane?? look for customs? think I can make it in an hour?

Follow the signs for connecting traffic. You will have to go through Canadian Border Control and Security. Without checked bags you should have enough time.

  • Paris to San Diego - Night layover in YYZ

My 85 years old mother and I will fly on Air Canada from Paris-CDG to San Diego-SAN with a night layover in Toronto YYZ. My mother will need a wheelchair which is writen on the AC ticket. I think we will have to pick up the suitcases but it would be much more convenient to take them to the baggage storage before going to the hotel. As I will not able to bring our two suitcases by myself, what shall I do ? Is a porter service allowed to bring suitcases from the caroussel to the baggage storage ? We will need some assistance as well to bring the suitcases to go through security ans US customs. Thanks for help, Merci par avance.

  • LAX to YUL connecting at YYZ

Hi, I will be traveling with Air Canada from LAX to YUL with a connection in YYZ. 1- Will I have to go through Customs at YYZ? 2- Will I have to go through security again before my connecting flight? 3- Is 1h19 enough time to make my connection?

Yes, in Toronto you will go through Canadian Immigration, pick up your bags, go through canadian customs, and drop your bags on the connecting bags belt then go through security. You have enough time, but don't have much time to spare in case your flight to Toronto is delayed. However, Air Canada has nearly constant flights from Toronto to Montreal so I'm sure you can be rebooked if you miss your connection.

Flying out of Pearson on British airways to london then onto barcelona. I will taking flight from Ottawa to get to Toronto. I understand BA flies out of Terminal 3 I can take either AC or WJ to get to toronto but wondering if I would have to pick up luggage and recheck it as this would affect my choice. I believe AC flies into terminal 1 - so would have to switch terminals BUT BA and AC have a luggage agreement - so would my luggage be checked all the way thru from ottawa to barcelona? Otherwise if I have to pick up luggage I would pick WJ to flight into YYZ as I believe they are in terminal 3 - same as BA - so less hassle if I have to claim and recheck luggage? Any help or guidance greatly appreciated - hoping to avoid claiming/rechecking bag and would big whatever airline/terminal connection would make this easiest. thanks,

AC and BA do have a baggage agreement but AC may not check your bags through to BA if you purchase separate tickets because they are not in the same alliance.

Last year I flew on 2 separate tickets (AC ottawa/LHR) then BA (LHR to BCN) and they did check my bags thru....so is it safe to assume that this would happen again - even with a '3rd' leg as well (YOW to YYZ)? If so and bags are checked thru then I would of course choose AC to fly into toronto despite change of terminal. If not the case then I would choose WJ to fly into terminal 3 to pick up my BA flights...... In either case does anyone know if I have to actually PICK up my luggage in toronto? This would help me choose of course - THANKS A BUNCH:)

  • Questions re Customs and checked luggage

Arriving from USA in Terminal 1 of YYZ and catching connecting flight to YOW (which I think departs from T1 as well). I'm assuming I will have to clear Customs in YYZ but will my checked luggage be forwarded all the way to YOW or will I have to collect my bag and then re-check it before heading to YOW?

Your bags will be tagged through to Ottawa but you will have to claim them in immigration, clear customs, and drop them at the re-check desk. Air Canada outlines the procedure pretty clearly here (page 2) - http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/airport/images/yyz.pdf

what gate does West Jet flight WS370 arrive at?

Flight not listed yet; however WestJet uses Terminal 3, which has gates A1-A7, B7-22 & C24-41

Today WS370 is a YYZ-YOW flight. Tomorrow it is a YQR-YYZ-YOW flight. What day are you talking about?

I was very disappointed to see that the science and technology magazines were listed under "Men's Interests". I find this classification rather sexist and archaic well into the 2nd decade of the 21st century. I notice that Stats Canada recently released results of the 2011 census indicating that more than half the degree holders in Canada are women. I did not make my purchase at this shop and took my money to one that didn't have any classifications.
