  • Dublin to Ottawa with a connection in Toronto

I will be flying from Dublin to Ottawa and have a 1h55 layover in Toronto. I know I need to change terminals. Will this be enough time to make my connection? Do I need to recheck my luggage in Toronto?

What airlines are you flying? Are you on one reservation or two separate reservations?

I'm flying with Aer Lingus and it was booked on the same reservation!

Sorry, Aer Lingus and Air Canada

You will have to ask Border Canada whether or not you will have to claim your bags or not to go through US Customs. I believe most passengers arriving in Terminal 3 do. You should have just enough time if everything goes smoothly. If you miss your connection, Air Canada has very frequent flights from Toronto to Ottawa.

Hi. I'm flying with Air Canada from Boston to Torronto then Seoul, Korea. My connection time is 1h 10m in the morning. Both of flight are Air Canada and as I know I don't need to claim the baggage. But is it enough time to transfer? Same with going back flight which is 1h 30m connection time?

Yes, that should be just enough time both ways.

My layover in Toronto is 2hr 25 mins, flying in from PoS with Caribbean airlines and out to London with Air Canada. I only have hand luggage - is that enough time to get from T3 to T1 and clear customs etc if needed?

With only hand luggage I think you can do it if the flight from Port of Spain is on-time.

My AA flight arrives at terminal 3 at 11:00am. I then have an AC flight to Tokyo at 1:40pm. I understand that I need to go through immigration, custom, recheck my bag and take the LINK. Do you think 2hr40 minutes is enough for that connection?

That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi, I'm flying with United from Chicago to Toronto, and then with WOW air from Toronto to the UK on the New Year day, will 1h 20 min enough? and I will need to recheck in my luggage. Thank you!

No, that's not realistically enough time as you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through Customs, change terminals, re-check your bags with WOW and go through security. There's no way you can do that in that amount of time.

    thanks ZAP for your reply!

And sorry, I meant Canadian Immigration, not US Immigration. The rest of my answer applies

I will be arriving in Toronto from Miami and catching a connecting flight to Vancouver (both on Air Canada), do I have to clear immigration and customs and re-check my baggage upon arrival? I have only 1hr 15mins connection time.

You should have enough time. You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs in Toronto but most passengers coming from the US no longer have to claim their bags in Toronto to do so.

I am flying from Chicago to Toronto to New Delhi in March. I have 1 hour and 30 minutes connection time in Toronto. Do I have to go through Customs in Toronto? Is 1.5 hours enough time?

You will go through Canadian passport control in Toronto but not customs. You should have enough time.

Hello, I am looking to book a flight from Honolululu > Vancouver > Toronto > London on West Jet Airlines. Everything will be booked on 1 ticket, but my connection in Toronto is only 1 hr 5 mins, I was wondering if this will be enough time to connect? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Yes, that is enough time if the flight from Vancouver is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hello, I am arriving from DTW at 815am on Air Canada. I have a connection to Cuba on WestJet at 955am. Will I make it?

With checked bags I think that will be very difficult if not impossible.

I have a flight from Halifax to Newark. I fly Halifax to Toronto on Air Canada and Toronto to Newark on United. I'll also have a checked bag. I have 1 hr and 35 min layover in Toronto. Will I have enough time to get to my connecting flight? Will I need to recheck my bag? Also if I miss my flight will I just get out on the next one?

Yes, you should have enough time. Ask the officers in US Immigration and Customs preclearance in Toronto if you need to claim your bags. Yes, if you miss your connection you will be rebooked on the next one.

I'm traveling from Ottawa to Minneapolis via Toronto on Christmas day (Air Canada). I've done this flight many times, but never on Christmas. My connection time in Toronto is 1h 20min; is this likely enough time to go through customs, etc.? I've had to hurry in the past but don't know if it's better or worse on Christmas (afternoon).

Christmas afternoon should not be busy.

    Thank you!

  • Ottawa to Toronto to Salt Lake City connection time

I first booked my flight to have at least a 2 hour connection in between my Ottawa to Toronto, and Toronto to Salt Lake flight. However, the airline changed my 2nd flight to earlier so now I only have an hour layover. Will this be enough time for my connection? Do I need to pick up my bag or go through customs. I've never been to Toronto airport so I'm nervous,

That should be just enough time. You will go through US Immigration and Customs Preclearance in Toronto.

    Thank you! I appreciate it!

  • Halifax to Cozumel via Toronto - connection questions
    Nov 17, 2016

Hello. I am travelling from Halifax to Cozumel (Mexico) via Toronto all on Air Canada. I'm worried that a late departure from Halifax (snow?) could reduce our transfer time in Toronto (currently we have about 60 minutes) I need to get from D gates to E gates. Do we need to go through security or is there a secured corridor? What would be the minimum time needed to do this transfer. Thanks!

All you have to do in Toronto is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

    Thank you very much!

I want to book a trip from Frankfurt to Regina and should have a 2.5 hour layover in YYZ. I have 2 different reservations but both with Air Canada. The first flight is said to be late 28% of the time. Is that enough time to claim my baggage, go through customs, check in and go through security? Is there a way to not have to reclaim baggage, check in... with 2 different reservations?

Hi. I am a Canadian and will have only 1h50min to change flight from air France coming from Paris to WestJet flying to Edmonton. Will I need to recheck in my luggage and will I have enough time for that with 2 kids along?

If the flights are on two separate reservations, yes, you will have to claim and re-check your baggage and that connection will be very difficult.

First of all thank you for the quick reply. The flights are on the same reservation, but one is Air France and one is WestJet, but booked on same reservation. Do I still need to check in the luggage? and do I need to go through custom at Toronto airport?
