my grandson is travelling on his own Dublin - Toronto - Calgary. In Toronto, he needs to do customs and claim luggage. Can you explain this simply for him - ie where does he go first on arrival (customs or luggage claim?) and what does he do once he gets the luggage? Is there a separate area for all of this? Does he then have to go to check in for Calgary. Many thanks.
Hello, My daugher 13 is flying alone from Quebec City to YYZ, then meeting family in YYZ to continue on to Orlando together. She has 1 hr 38 minutes scheduled connection time. Only after booking the flight did I realize she will have to go though US customs alone in YYZ.. Can someone detail the step by step she will have to go through? Also would it be quicker and better if she had no checked luggage or does it matter? Thank you so much!
Hello, my 13 year old is flying from Quebec City to Orlando. She is doing the Quebec City to YYZ alone and will 1hour and 38 minutes to get to the connection to orlando. All through Air Canada her flights were booked together . Family is meeting her in Toronto and she is going with them to Orlando ( same second flight) Will she have to go through customs alone or is there a place they will meet so she has an adult with her through customs?
The Preclearance hall for connecting passengers is different from the one for passengers originating in Toronto. So she will go through by herself.
I'm flying from IAD to YUL with a 30 min connection in YTZ will i make it through the customs process so i don't miss my connecting flight ?? Both flights are on Porter Airlines

Travelling from Winnipeg to Orlando through Toronto. When I check luggage in Winnipeg will it go straight through to Orlando or do I pick it up in Toronto? I go through customs in Toronto? I have 2 hours between flights, is this enough time?
Yes, you go through US Immigration and Customs Preclearance in Toronto. They will let you know there if you have to claim your bags there or not. You have enough time.
If I have to get my luggage in Toronto do I have to leave secure area and go through security again.....Concerned about not having enough time. Thank you
There is a separate security procedure in US Immigration and Customs Preclearance.
I'm flying London to Denver via Toronto. I have US Passport and only a carry-on. I have 1 hr 25 mins for connection in Toronto. Is that enough time for customs?
That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
If she is getting dropped off at Air Canada depot how do we find each other.
You could just meet at the gate after you both go through Preclearance.
I will be flying back from Prague to the US with a 5 hour layover in Toronto. I was told by Air Canada that I would need to pick my checked-in luggage at Toronto, clear customs and drop it off again even though I am only transiting. Is that true?

Also, can I clear immigration for a couple of hours to meet a Canadian friend at the Airport? Then go through security/immigration again to catch my continuing flight on to the US? I am a US citizen.

Thanks in advance,
Jake
In Toronto you will have to go straight to US Immigration and Customs Preclearance and be stuck there. You won't be able to meet your friend. You likely will not have to claim your bags.
So is there no option to clear Canada immigration rather than going to US immigration and customs preclearance immediately?
ZAP - your information is incorrect. You can come out. I just completed my flight and after I cleared Canadian Immigration and Customs, I was out of the secure area. I had to go to level 3 then for US immigration pre-clearance...but between exiting Canadian customs and going to Level 3 for F Gates to the US, you are in the open. You were right on the bags being checked all the way though.
flying to Toronto and then on to Vegas where do we get our luggage to go to next flight or is it checked right through
If both flights are on the same reservation, under normal circumstances, your bags will go through to Vegas.
