I will b travelling from London to Vancouver on air Canada flight I have layover of 7 hrs before I catch my next flight for Kelowna on west jet air. Both the bookings are made on different reservation. Will the allow me to check my baggage all the way till Kelowna. If not do I have to pay any baggage fees.
No, you will have to claim your bags in Vancouver and then take them to the Westjet counter to re-check them and pay a baggage fee.
Thanks a lot for ur reply! Just wondering as I have 7 hrs of layover is it wise to go out of the airport or are there enough things to do within airport terminal?
I'm a minor but I don't have any unaccompanied services so I'm all alone here AND it's my first time. I have a flight from Comox to Vancouver which I'm not scared about. I then have a flight from Vancouver to LAX. I only have approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. Do I have to get my checked baggage? Do I have to go through security? This is my first time (in like 5 years so I can't remember anything) so I don't know what to expect when I land in Vancouver. Thanks so much.
In Vancouver, assuming everything is on the same reservation, you will proceed to US Immigration and customs preclearance. There, your bags will be waiting for you and you will go through US Immigration and customs, and re-check your bags.
I'll have an 11 hour layover at YVR. Any suggestions for what to see/do and how to go about finding transportation for whatever i decide to do?
You can go see beautiful downtown by taking the Sky train station at the airport. Will have your lugge or not? You can take a water taxi. You can visit the marine time museum. If you like history you can visit the Vancouver museum which right next to the marine time museum pretty much. If you like to watch planes take off and land the best place to do that is at Flight Path Park. You can take a taxi, rent a car, or take the Sky Train (your best). If you like golf you can play it with the cities golf courses. Just make sure your back at the airport 2hr before your next flight to go through security. Enjoy the greenest city of the world!
I'm flying from San Fran to Seoul with a layover in Osaka and Vancouver. My layover is only 1 hour and 13 minutes in Vancouver. Do I have to go though customs in Vancouver?
Which direction are you talking about? On the way to Osaka you will go through Canadian passport control, on the way back to San Francisco you will go through US Immigration and Customs preclearance in Vancouver.
Hello , I am an Australian Citizen transiting via YVR on my way to LAX, with a lay over of almost 11hrs on my return journey. Can I make use of the time to do quick tour of the city ?. While my luggage is interlined.
Yes, Australians can visit Canada without a visa.
Thanks Zap, do I need to collect my luggage if I am to leave the airport or would it be interlined directly to my connecting flight ?. best regards
Hi, I am rebooking my flight and just want to find out, my flight from YYJ via YVR is with Air Canada Jazz and from YVR to Frankfurt is with Lufthansa. Do I need to pick up my luggage and recheck it. I have only 1 hr 5 mins to the connection flight. Will I be able to make it?
If both tickets are on the same reservation you don't have to do anything with your bags in Vancouver - just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. you should have enough time.
We are flying to the US on West Jet with layovers in Vancouver on both trips. Our longest is 8 hours. Will we be able to leave the airport so we can see Vancouver, and if so, do we need a Visa as we are travelling UK to US and then back to UK?
On your way back to the UK it will be easier as on your way to the US you will be expected to go straight to US Immigration preclearance when you arrive in Vancouver, not Canadian immigration. UK Citizens never need a visa to visit Canada or the US.
Hi, I am indonesian and now currently studying in Japan. I am planning to go to Chicago, my itinerary will be Kansai-Vancouver-Chicago, I have B1/B2 US visa. All the flights will be with Delta Airlines). In Vancouver will layover around 4 hours. Do I need Canadian Visa?
Since you are an Indonesian with a valid US Visa you are eligible for Canadian Transit Without Visa: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/twov/travellers.asp
Thank you so much Zap :) *(I was incorrect, I wrote Delta but it supposed to be Air Canada)
There is 11 hours lay over at YVR. I'm arriving from US and transfer at YVR to Asia. SInce 11 hours is a long time to wait and seat in the airport only, I am planning to downtown Vancouver and come back for my flight. I would like to figure out whether I will be allowed to go out and come back.
What is your citizenship?
South Koreans don't need a visa to visit Canada - you can go where you want on your layover.
