Veracruz General Jara VER Airport Overview

Veracruz Las Bahadas /Jara International Airport serves the Mexican city and state of Veracruz, and is gateway to  the spectacular landscape of the lake Catemaco region, and the famous Carnival of Veracruz with its musical extravaganzas lasting all night through.

The Airport is located 10 km outside of the city of Veracruz,  at 'Las Bajadas' and is situated on the Gulf of Mexico - between the cities of La Antigua and Boca del Rio. To get to Veracruz, take the access road (turn right at the junction with the highway; after 5 minutes you see a turnoff to the right, signposted for Veracruz city center.

With two runways and over 1M  passengers per annum, Veracruz International Airport is served by domestic and international airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe.

The passenger terminal at Veracruz International Airport is able to process 390 passengers an hour and offers an Information and Tourist counter, banking service, an ATM machine across from the check-in desks, shops, two cafes,  and rental car counters.
Transport options from the Airport include rental cars, taxis or shared-ride minivans.

Present and future Airport developments: 
Early 2014,  ASUR - the operating company of some Mexican airports, including Veracruz - announced that both Cancun and Veracruz airports will get 'significant expansion'.   Projects already completed:  New  new check-in counters,  6 airline gates - five of which with covered boarding bridges (moving as jetways, expediting embarking/ disembarking). The Terminal's interior & exterior areas were renovated and exhibit a new architectural style.  Recent renovation and expansion include new hallways to accommodate the growing passenger numbers.   Veracruz Airport is to double in size by 2018.
