VCP Airport is located 16 km from city center of Campinas, and 93 km from the city of Sao Paulo, and can be accessed via highways Santos Dumont, Bandeirantes & Anhanguera, connecting the capital city of Sao Paulo with cities within the state of Sao Paulo.
With two runways and 9.3 million passengers in 2016, Viracopos Campinas Airport is the main hub of Azul Brazilian Airlines (which allows free bus transfer from/to Sao Paulo); and served by a some other airlines.
NOTE: Facial recognion enabled automated Border Control is now available.
The present passenger terminal at Viracopos Campinas Airport covers an area of 20,000 sq. meters, with 72 check-in counters and 41 airplane positions. New concessions were recently added, and food & drink is available at pre-security areas of levels 1 & 2 and in the post-security boarding area. Information counters can be contacted at (19) 3725-5122 or 5120 - located in front of domestic & international departures.
Amenities and services inside the passenger terminal include: food & drink establishments, retail and duty-free shops, banking & currency exchange facilities, post office, internet access, 24-hr taxi service, convenience store, newsstands, first aid station and a medical & dental clinic. Rental car acounters are located on the ground level.
I- f you need to get vaccinated, call (10) 3725-5405, or go to Agencia Nacional de Vigilancia Sanitaria, which is outside of the terminal, near the arrivals area.
- TAP Airlines opened a new VIP room.
- Automated self-service 'e-gates' (for passport /biometric identification) were added at both arrivals & departures, taking only 15 seconds..

The Terminal expansion is to cover 178,000 sq.meters, with 28 airbridges and 7 bus gates. Its roof of 33 photovoltaic skylights is to reach a 117 kWp. capacity and its semi-transparency will allow for natural light, protect it against solar radiations, and provide acoustic insulation from air traffic. Upon initial opening after completion of its first phase of construction, the terminal is to have 53 IER check-in kiosks (31 incorporate RFID capabilities & passport reader, 11 are for transfers, and another 11are for arrivals). Electronic printers will print out boarding passes and baggage tags.
Present & future Airport developments: While ABV SA won concession in 2012 - its shareolders decided in July 2017 to return the concession to the Government - for it to seek new bidders at a new auction. ABV invested $954M in a new terminal, however, passenger traffic only reached 9.3M (of the 17.9M previously projected). Until the new tender is complete, ABV continues airport operations.
- Not all news at the Airport are negative: Viracopos Campinas Airport has a robust cargo service, for which it received the 'Cargo Excellence Award in April 2017.
- Construction of Phase 1 is to include a new passenger terminal capable of handling 14M passenger a year; a parking garage, and expanded taxiways - no indication yet when to be completed.
- Construction of Phase 2 is to acommodate 22M passengers.
