I land at IAD from Toronto and will have 51 minutes to get onto a plane to Kuwait. This seems very short for an international transfer. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your first flight is on-time you should have enough time.

My flight from MAN arrives at 3:30pm and departs at 4:45pm for STL. Is this enough time?

That's definitely cutting it close. You will arrive in the C/D concourse, go through US Immigration, claim your bag, go through US Customs, then re-check your bag at the transfer desk, then you will go through security and to your departure gate, which may be on C or D but may also be in A, which will require taking the AeroTrain.

hello, I have a 45 minute layover in between my SAN - IAD flight to board my IAD-BAH flight. Is this enough time? I know at other airports I have to go through security a second time to get into the Int'l terminal. Is this not the case at IAD? many thanks!

IAD does not have a separate international terminal. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be on the C/D concourse. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi I am due to arrive at Washington from LAX at 18.00 and then depart at 18.40 for MAN [UK]. Flying with UNITED Is this enough time for the connection? Seems rather 'tight'

That is enough time but leaves very little to spare in case you have a delay. Both flights will be on the C/D concourse and all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hello, I'm arriving Dules International at 4 pm on 30 th January from Dallas ( flight SK8789) and need to change to 5.15 pm flight to Copenhagen (SK 752). Is this going to be enough time for non US citizen?

Yes, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Your citizenship doesn't matter. All gates are connected inside security. Your first flight will be operated by United/United Express.

Having never flown through Dulles airport will 1 hr 40 mins be enough time to transfer - flight arriving from Dublin flying to Nashville (I clear immigration in Dublin) tks

Yes, that should be plenty of time. because of pre-clearance, if you purchased tickets together your bags will be transferred automatically and you only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security.

  • Transfer time SK925 to UA3433 (with kids)

We are arriving on Friday 27th of February with SK925 at 3:15pm and would need to continue with flight UA3433 at 5.04pm to BNA. Is 1h49min enough for the transfer? With immigration, customs, etc. And we are travelling with three kids. All help is appreciated. Thanks,

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in the International Arrivals building, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and then take the Aerotrain to your departure gate concourse (A, C, or D).

  • DL 2959 from JFK connecting to international flight

I purchased two separate tickets both on Delta. The first is from JFK to IAD (DL 2959) arriving at 14:37. I need to collect my bags and recheck them for the second flight (DL 9385) departing at 18:05 to AMS. Is there enough time?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Note that for your second flight you will need to take your bags to the KLM check-in counter, not the Delta one.

Oops! I meant arrival of first flight at 16:37 (not 14:37) and needing to connect on a separate ticket at 18:05. Thanks for your prompt response.

Oh, then that's going to be much more difficult. I suppose it might be possible, but it's essential that the first flight arrive on-time.

do I have enough time to connect my next flight? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. A is connected to C by the Aerotrain inside security.

I am arriving to IAD from Toronto on United at 11:49 and my next flight to Tokyo is at 12:20. Will that be enough time to connect?

That is barely enough time. You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Toronto so all you have to do in IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, but 31 minutes leaves very little time to spare in case of delays.

  • SA 207 from JHB / Dakar - connecting to Orlando

I arrive 6.25am on SA 207 and have a connection to Orlando on United at 8.09am, we have to clear passport control, collect bags and re-check the baggage, is this possible and how far do we need to go between gates?

It's possible. You will arrive in the International Arrivals Building, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, then go through security then take the AeroTrain to Concourse C or D where your flight to Orlando will depart.

Thanks, is there sufficient time for the baggage to make the connecting flight?

Yes, that should be enough time.

is a 45 minute layover enough to get from gate C27 to gate C4; connecting flight from San Fran to IAD to Munich.

Yes, that is enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk between gates. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

I am arrivng from Copenhagen on SK925 on 3.15PM and need to continue to Miami with AA1137 at 5.19PM - leaving me with 2 hrs. Is this enough? Thanks for any feedback :-)

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? If together that should be plenty of time. If separately you will have to hurry and hope your flight is on-time. If separately, after you clear customs you will have to take your baggage to the AA ticket counter and check it to Miami (and pay a checked bag fee).

I am flying from Chicago to Washington D.C., and I have a layover of 51 minutes for my next flight from IAD to Paris. Will I have to get my bags, and recheck it in and go through customs? If so, will I have enough time with a 51 min layover? My cousin is meeting me in IAD will she be able to hold the plane till I get there?

If both flights are on United you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. You have enough time. No your cousin doesn't have authority to hold your flight if you are late.

Yes, both flights are on United. That is a relief! And I won't have to recheck my bags since its going from domestic to international?

No, you don't have to recheck your bags.
