  • WALKING FROM C TO D GATES?
    Jul 30, 2015

Hello, Is it possible to Walk from C GATE TO D GATE without Train?

Yes, C and D are just two sides of the same long building.

If I am arriving from Dublin at 3:35 pm, and departing for Minneapolis at 5:05 pm, is this enough time to transfer at IAD? Flights are booked together and on airlines with a codeshare agreement (United Airlines and Are Lingus). Thanks very much in advance for your help!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate in the B concourse to your departure gate in the A, C, or D concourse. You should have enough time.

  • YUL with layover at IAD

I am flying United departing YUL at 7:25 pm with a layover at IAD. My connecting flight is also United. I just want to confirm that United flights all depart from the same terminal?

IAD only has one terminal, but their flights can use the A, C, or D gates. A is connected to C and D by the aerotrain and mobile lounge inside security. C and D are just two sides of the same building.

  • Help for Daughter Coming from LAS to IAD then on to Heathrow
    Jul 30, 2015

I am seeking some help reassurance for my daughter. She has booked a flight with United f0on 31/08/15, from LAS to IAD departing 1.26pm arriving 9.04pm. Her flight with British Airways to Heathrow leaves at 10.25pm. I thought this was too close for comfort, but looking at BA website it says boarding gate closes 15 min before. Providing she does online checkin do you think she would have enough time to collect her bag, clear customs (does she has to clear customs?), check her bag in with BA and get to the gate? I think BA go from Terminal B at Dulles. Mnay thanks

You do not go through US Customs when exiting the US. Dulles only has one terminal. She will likely not have enough time to claim her bag and get it to the British Airways check-in counter before the checked bag cutoff. She needs an earlier flight to IAD or to plan on spending the night in DC.

    Thanks, I thought as much.

  • From YUL to GRU connection in IAD
    Jul 26, 2015

I booked a flight from Montreal(CA) to São Paulo(BRAZIL) flying United one ticket. Arriving (Wednesday) in IAD at 21:13 and leaving to GRU at 22:00 (47 minutes). I know it's tight but it's possible to do customs and not lose the connection? I called United and they confirmed that my luggage go from YUL directly to GRU. Thank you

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your flight from Montreal is on-time it's possible.

We are travelling United Airlines UA1985 from LAX to IAH and have 35 mins to make a connection with UA924 for LHR. We are travelling with our 4 year old daughter - will we have enough time please? Thanks

It's possible but doesn't leave much time to spare if your first flight is late.

  • Can I ask for my bags to be pre-checked, to save conection time?

I am arriving from Las Vegas at - hopefully - 4:39pm on DELTA. I then have a19:00 to LHR with Virgin Atlantic. It should be enough time, but could I ask DELTA to check-in the bags with Virgin? The tickets were booked separately.

Sorry, meant to say arriving at Dulles (IAD)

Delta may check your bags through to Virgin but aren't obligated to since you bought separate tickets. You have enough time even if they don't.

  • 1H38 connection for LAS-IAD-FRA

I will be arriving from Vegas at 3:47pm at Dulles International Airport (United Airlines) and my connecting plane is at 5:25 for Francfurt, Germany (United Airlines) departing from IAD. Will there be enough time ? Thanks

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All you have to do in IAD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on the C/D concourse.

Thank you very much ZAP for the quick and precise anwser :) Do you think luggages can be checked at LAS for the whole trip as both are UA flights ? I had to purchase tickets separately but called UA if they could combine the trip (they said yes over the phone and asked for my 2 reservation numbers).

Then if they took down both reservation numbers when you called they probably did combine them on their computer and the bags should be checked through automatically to FRA in LAS. However, just double check that they are and carry a printed copy of your IAD-FRA confirmation just in case.

    Thanks again ZAP :)

  • MIA - IAD - LHR - 90 mins connection?
    Jul 23, 2015

Hi, I'm flying from Miami on the AA 2.13pm flight getting into IAD at 4.44pm and (hoping) to connect to the BA 6.15pm flight 90 minutes later. Not on the same ticket. Is this possible or no hope?

Without checked bags, definitely possible. With checked bags if AA doesn't check your bags through to BA in Miami - impossible.

  • UA Brussells to IAD

UA Brussells to IAD layover 1 hr 20 minutes to UA Denver. Is this enough time to clear customs recheck bag at IAD US citizen Bags checked in Brussells? am i to recheck ?

It's possible, it's 10 minutes shorter than the recommended time but everything will be confined in United's facility in the C/D concourse, so that makes it easier.

Arriving at IAD from buffalo niagara international airport with only 56 mins in connecting time to get to our connecting flight to Denver, Colorado. Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. All flights at IAD are connected inside security.

Hi guys, we're booked to leave IAD AT 17h40 to Johannesburg on SAA. I'm buying tickets for a connecting flight from Miami to IAD, i.e. Not on same ticket. Is it too late to land at 16h31? How tight could we cut it? Would it be possible to arrange bags to be checked through in Miami?

No, arriving at 1631 would be far too late. You need to arrive prior to 1330. No airline that flies from Miami to IAD will check your bags through to SAA.

    Thanks. Huge help!

  • Enough time to connect in IAD?

Is there enough time to arrive in IAD at 7:41 am and depart to TPA at 8:20 am on United Airlines?

If the first flight is domestic that is barely enough time.

Hello, coming in from MIA to IAD (to catch a flight to LHR). Two separate tickets, with just short of 2hrs between them. With AA/BA so hopefully getting bags checked straight through. What are your thoughts on the connection times?

Yes, that should be enough time. Even if your bags aren't checked through you will probably have enough time if your flight from Miami is on-time.

I arrive at Dulles via Toronto to connect with South African Airlines to Accra, what is the distance between gates? On returning from Accra to Dulles from South African Airlines my connection to Ottawa is only 1 hour, is that enough time to pass US customs and catch my flight?

You will arrive in the A, C or D concourse and depart from the B concourse. You probably have enough time on your way to Accra as you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa. However 1 hour is DEFINITELY not enough time on your return.
