At Ottawa Airport, go through US customs clearance, saving time on arrival at IAD. United uses A - D gates. SAS uses B gates. On arrival at IAD follow signs 'TO ALL GATES'; go through security checkpoint and look for signs to B gates (for SAS). The Aerotrain connects A - C gates; If arriving at D gates (not served by train) you need to take the shuttle bus to your connecting B gate. One hour will suffice.

Thanks. How long in advance can we know at which Terminal the United Express flight from Ottawa will be arriving at, or is this to be a surprise depending on how crowded the other UA terminals happen to be then?

Take the Aerotrain. Budget about 20 minutes for that connection.

At IAD, all international arrivals are being transported to the International Arrivals Building at the west end of the main terminal for TSA clearance: you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated. International arrivals who continue their journey need to take the Mobile Lounge shuttle to the D gates D1-32 of Midfield Concourse building C/D; on arrival at D gates, take the walkway (follow signs) to your connecting C gate C6. 2 hrs should suffice..

Transfer of your bags depends on your airline, each of which have their own rules. If you purchased & received one ticket for both airlines, or if both airlines belong to the same Alliance, or have code-share agreements, your bags will be automatically transferred to your connecting flight. It is best to visit, after customs clearance, the airline or its handling agent's office in the baggage claim areas to make sure they transfer.

He means he doesn't want to take the connecting flight he has booked. To do so is quite easy. You will be required to claim your bags in immigration. After you exit customs, simply do not re-check them with your airline.

If your United flight is mainline or on a large regional jet you will arrive in C/D and have to take the mobile lounger or Aerotrain to B. If you are on a small United Express plane you will arrive in A and can walk to B.

On arrival at IAD via All Nippon Airlines, flight 002, you are being transported to the International Arrivals building at the end of the main terminal for TSA clearance: you go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in your bag where indicated. To get to your connecting midfield concourse A - D (you can walk to A/B gates, but need to take the Aero Train to C gates C1 to 30, or the Mobile Lounge to D gates D1 to 32. NOTE: United uses A,B,C & D gates - but your connecting flight is not yet on the screen. Your boarding pass and the overhead screens will indicate on arrival at IAD, which gate you depart from.

Your flight to Chicago will leave from C/D so you will have to take the Aerotrain or Mobile Lounge over to that concourse.

What airline are you flying in to IAD?

1. Only international arrivals need to go through customs clearance. 2. As UA & ANA belong to the Star Alliance - your bags will be transferred automatically. 3. to get from Concourse C to Concourse B, take the AeroTrain serving gates C1-30 and B35-79 - follow signs.

You can simply walk between your gates as you will arrive in A and depart from B. If your first flight is on-time you'll have enough time.

Brussels Airline is uses the main terminal. On arrival look at the overhead screens to find your connecting gate. You have enough time.

Note that SN8838 is United 326 and SN8802 is United 140. Both flights will operate from the C/D concourse at IAD. If your first flight is on-time you will have enough time.

LH7465 is actually United Express flight 3738. It will arrive into C/D and your Lufthansa flight will depart from B. You will probably want to take the Aerotrain between gates. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time, but you'll have to hurry.

IAD does not show the Concourse /gate for your UA arrival - United uses Concourses A, B, C & D with corresponding gates. Note that Concourses A,B, & C can be reached via underground AeroTrain (serving A gates 1-32, B gates 35-79 & C gates 1-30, Concourse D is not served by the train, but connects by short moving walkway to the C gates. You have enough transfer time.

I believe the MSP flight will likely arrive into D as well. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.
