1 hour enough?Jun 16, 201320I'll be flying from Ottawa, Canada, on UA 3360 and connecting to SK926.Which terminal will I be arriving at, and which terminal will i'll be departing from? Is one hour enough to connect? ThanksYvesposted on Fri, Jun 14[ Reply ][ Like ]At Ottawa Airport, go through US customs clearance, saving time on arrival at IAD. United uses A - D gates. SAS uses B gates. On arrival at IAD follow signs 'TO ALL GATES'; go through security checkpoint and look for signs to B gates (for SAS). The Aerotrain connects A - C gates; If arriving at D gates (not served by train) you need to take the shuttle bus to your connecting B gate. One hour will suffice.sajun13posted on Sat, Jun 15

Immigration and transitJun 11, 201330I will be flying to DFW via IAD and the transit time is just 2 hours. I am a tourist and visiting US for the first time. I would like to know if I arrive into Gate C1 and depart from Gate C6 what is the procedure to be followed.Narenposted on Tue, Jun 11The airport has a good description of how this works. Since you will be staying in C you will likely be allowed to clear customs in C. http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/884.htmZAPposted on Tue, Jun 11At IAD, all international arrivals are being transported to the International Arrivals Building at the west end of the main terminal for TSA clearance: you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated. International arrivals who continue their journey need to take the Mobile Lounge shuttle to the D gates D1-32 of Midfield Concourse building C/D; on arrival at D gates, take the walkway (follow signs) to your connecting C gate C6. 2 hrs should suffice..tujun13posted on Tue, Jun 11

avoiding a tranfer from international toJun 9, 201320i will be arriving from Frankfurt to Dulles and have domestic connection. i want to leave the connecting custom area and not take the connecting flight.. how do i do with with checked luggage?? to leave airport in dulles..suposted on Sun, Jun 9Transfer of your bags depends on your airline, each of which have their own rules. If you purchased & received one ticket for both airlines, or if both airlines belong to the same Alliance, or have code-share agreements, your bags will be automatically transferred to your connecting flight. It is best to visit, after customs clearance, the airline or its handling agent's office in the baggage claim areas to make sure they transfer.sujun13posted on Sun, Jun 9

Outbound connecting international flightJun 5, 201320Arriving IAD tomorrow evening 9pm on United, connecting international flight leaves at 10pm on Lufthansa. Any tips on how to get to departing gate quickly?Ezraposted on Tue, Jun 4If your United flight is mainline or on a large regional jet you will arrive in C/D and have to take the mobile lounger or Aerotrain to B. If you are on a small United Express plane you will arrive in A and can walk to B.ZAPposted on Tue, Jun 4

Is 2-hour connection time enough?Jun 2, 201320I will be flying into IAD on NH2, arriving at 10.40am. I will then have to catch UA1269 to Chicago, leaving at 12.38pm. Will there be enough time to catch the flight to Chicago?Hoposted on Sun, Jun 2On arrival at IAD via All Nippon Airlines, flight 002, you are being transported to the International Arrivals building at the end of the main terminal for TSA clearance: you go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in your bag where indicated. To get to your connecting midfield concourse A - D (you can walk to A/B gates, but need to take the Aero Train to C gates C1 to 30, or the Mobile Lounge to D gates D1 to 32. NOTE: United uses A,B,C & D gates - but your connecting flight is not yet on the screen. (open http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/878.htm & click on departures, then on Chicago O'Hare). 2 hrs transfer time is sufficient. Your boarding pass and the overhead screens will indicate on arrival at IAD, which gate you depart from.sujun13posted on Sun, Jun 2

Transfers between Concourse B and C/DMay 28, 201310I'm transferring between a domestic UA flight (Concourse C/D) and an ANA international flight (Concourse B). I'll have 1 hour when leaving the US, and 1hr 50 min when entering the US. What's the best way to transfer and will I have enough time? On re-entry, I assume I clear customs at Concourse C? Thanks!novartposted on Mon, May 271. Only international arrivals need to go through customs clearance. 2. As UA & ANA belong to the Star Alliance - your bags will be transferred automatically. 3. to get from Concourse C to Concourse B, take the AeroTrain serving gates C1-30 and B35-79 - follow signs.tumay13posted on Tue, May 28

Transfer from domestic to internationalMay 28, 201320Wed. 5/29 I am scheduled to arrive IAD at 4:10 PM on United 5900 from Knoxville, TN. I will have 6 students in tow and need to transfer to Austrian Air 94 to Vienna for a 5:35 PM departure. In all my years of travel, I have somehow managed to miss transferring at IAD. I am open to suggestions about how best to proceed (and maybe how fast to run). Thanks.DrBobposted on Mon, May 27You can simply walk between your gates as you will arrive in A and depart from B. If your first flight is on-time you'll have enough time.ZAPposted on Tue, May 28

so many variables to considerMay 25, 201300As a flight attendant I advise all passengers to give themselves at least an hour and a half for international connections. You are counting on no weather delays, no delays due to inbound aircraft. It takes 15 minutes to fully deplane an aircraft so depending on where you are seated that time can be taken up which gives you only 35 minutes to get to your gate before I misconnect. There are so many factors to consider when traveling ie: the weather, time of day, is there a later flight to the same destination you can be booked on. As the consumer you have options. I personally would give myself a longer grace time in between flights.Toni D.posted on Sat, May 25

OKC - IAD - FRA 1hr layoverMay 23, 201310Hi, I am flying LH7465 from Oklahoma City to Washington and then LH417 to Frankfurt. I have 1hr layover. Is it enough time to catch this connecting flight? Thanks in advanceMartinKposted on Thu, May 23LH7465 is actually United Express flight 3738. It will arrive into C/D and your Lufthansa flight will depart from B. You will probably want to take the Aerotrain between gates. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time, but you'll have to hurry.ZAPposted on Thu, May 23

1:07 connection time ?May 23, 201320My flight UA 6493 from MSP lands at 16.18 (no info on concourse) on Saturday. Next flight UA 974 to Geneva takes off at 17.25 (Concourse D). Do I have enough time (1hour 7 min) to connect ?lpyposted on Thu, May 23IAD does not show the Concourse /gate for your UA arrival - United uses Concourses A, B, C & D with corresponding gates. Note that Concourses A,B, & C can be reached via underground AeroTrain (serving A gates 1-32, B gates 35-79 & C gates 1-30, Concourse D is not served by the train, but connects by short moving walkway to the C gates. You have enough transfer time.thmay13posted on Thu, May 23
