I will be flying from Vienna to Seattle with a 1:10 hr connection at IAD. Will that be enough time to clear customs and make it to my flight to Seattle?

I forgot to mention that the flight is actually Vienna to Brussels, then an United flight from Brussels to IAD, then IAD to Seattle, all on the same ticket.

No, that is 20 minutes shorter than the minimum international to domestic connection time at IAD. However, with no checked bags It wouldn't necessarily be impossible.

We have a flight from San Antonio (United) connection time of 1hr 3min to Vienna (Austrian). Will we have sufficient time to make the connection?

Austrian flight 94 is at B49. only took us 15 minutes to get thru security...

    Thank you.

You won't even have to go through security. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Will be flying from CMH to IAD reaching IAD at 7:20 AM connecting to Emirates flight at 10:15 AM. I have separate tickets. Do I have enough time to get my luggages from United and re-check to Emirates in less than 3 hours?

Yes, that should be just enough time

I am connecting from Sao Paulo to Ottawa via IAD. Will I need to collect my check in luggage? Also, will I need to go through immigration or is immigration held at the Canadian border? Many thanks!

Yes, at IAD you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. When you arrive in Ottawa you will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs.

I am flying from ATL to IAD, and then to Rome, Italy. I have a connector that is only 52 minutes. Will I have enough time to make my flight to Italy? And, will that give baggage claim enough time to transfer my checked bags from my first plane to my second? I don't want to be in Italy with no clothes!

Yes, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate if both flights are on the same reservation. You should have enough time.

My Untied flight from Louisville KY allows one hour forty three minutes to board my United international flight to Barcelona. Is this enough time and do I go through security checks again?

That is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You do not have to go through security.

I have reservation from United Airlines from Ottawa to Portland connecting at IAD. I only have 1 hour and 10 mins. My US customs and immigration would be cleared at Ottawa, Canada. When I reach IAD, do I need to claim luggage and re-check? How long this typically takes? Is this time frame good enough for claiming baggage, re-check and clearing security? Thank you for the attention.

You don't have to do anything with your bags at IAD or go through security. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Thanks a lot! IAD website doesn't explain the process for Pre screened passengers. So, I was a bit nervous.

But when I called up United customer care they said if if you are Pre-screened, you still have to claim baggage and re-check. Is that correct?

That is incorrect - they are confused.

I am travelling from New Orleans with United to IAD arriving mid afternoon Sunday with 2.5 hours to connect to a BA flight to Heathrow. I have luggage to check . Will I need to collect my luggage and go through security at IAD and will I have enough time to do it. Any comments very welcome

If your tickets are on two separate reservations, yes, you will have to claim your bags, re-check them with British Airways, and go back through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

    Thank you that's very helpful

We will be arriving via UA into IAD at 16:15, and departing via UA to AMS at 17:25. Is this enough time to safely make our connection, or is it cutting things close? Thanx!

Forgot to add, arriving from TYS.

Yes, that should be enough time. All gates at IAD are connected inside security.

Im flying in from Austin texts have to change over flight to aerlingus flight in a hour will I have enough time

We are arriving IAD via Amsterdam (connecting in Frankfurt) on Lufthansa. We arrive at 1:25PM. On a separate ticket, we have an American Flight to Charlotte which departs at 4:55. Is 2 hrs. 50 minutes a long enough connection time? We do have Global Entry if that makes a difference. Thank you

With Global Entry that should be enough time.

Do you know at which gate will the Toronto arrive in IAD and at which gate the Narita flight will depart? I have 1 hr and 6 minutes layover time, will there be enough time for connection? By what means will people travel from gate to gate? Thank you.

Are both flights on United? If so they will likely be both in the C/D concourse. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. You have enough time.

    thank you

Not a question about a connection, but I fly from IAD to Dublin on Aer Lingus Friday at 5:20 p.m. I know this is peak time at Dulles, but I don't think I'll be able to make it to the airport before 3:00 p.m., cutting it much closer than I would like at this airport. Will this be enough time to get through security and to my gate without checking bags? Any suggestions to make it a bit easier? Thanks!

That should be enough time. Unlike the rest of the country, the airports in Washington DC are properly staffed by the TSA.

Do I have enough time to get from terminal a to c to connecting flight if I only have 40 minutes?

A and C are just concourses, not terminals. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time. They are connected inside security by the mobile lounge and aerotrain.
