I will be arriving to IAD from London Heathrow with 1hr37min to connect to a flight to Cancun. Both flights are through United. If I have no checked bags, is that long enough to go through US customs and immigration and make it for my connecting flight?

Hello, I'm planning to travel from Brussels to Santa Barbara via IAD and was wondering how much I should keep between connections. I will have a J visa. After arriving at IAD, I'm guessing I have to go through passport control and security check. Will there also be any customs at IAD or only at Santa Barbara?

Flying from Montreal Canada at 6am to Dulles arriving at 750. Flying to Honolulu at 855. Worried about making my flight. Family of four. Do we have to go through security... Will we make our flight.

You will preclear US immigration and customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Dulles is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

I'm traveling from Barcelona to San Diego with a 1:30 layover in IAD. I am flying Business Class on a single United Ticket (and have Global Entry). Can I make the connection? My companion does not have global entry...will she make the connection? Thanks!

Yes, that should be plenty of time for you and still enough time for your companion.

I'm departing from Columbus Ohio and arriving IAD to catch Munich flight.I will only have 1 hour and 35 minute to get in to Munich flight. My ticket is with UA and one reservation. I don't know since I will have the TSA in Columbus, do I have to take TSA again or check in procedures all over again? Can I go straight to my international gate?

You do not have to go through security or check in again in Dulles. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

I am flying from Pittsburgh to Dulles and then Frankfurt Germany. My flight arrives in Dulles at 846 and departs for Germany at 10:10. Both flights on United. Will I have to go through security at Dulles? Will this allow enough time to board? I will precheck 24 hrs before departing.

No, you don't have to go through security in Dulles. You should have enough time.

    Thank you!

I'm flying in today at 4:15 and have a tight connection now due to cancelled flight this morning. I can't find anywhere online for Scandanavia Airlines (star alliance with United) for a gate number

    Scandinavian Airlines uses concourse B.

  • Changing plane from SFO to Rome on United

I am flying United from SFO to IAD and then connecting on a United flight to Rome. I have 1 hour 50 minutes to do this. I am concerned because flights from SFO are often delayed. About how long should it take me to get from my arrival gate to international departure gate (both United)? Will they likely be in the same terminal?

Dulles only has one terminal. Both gates will be in the C/D concourse. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to get between gates.

I am arriving at a gate on delta and depart at a gate from United. How far apart are they. Is an hour and 10 minutes enough time to make connection

If you have no checked bags and are already checked in for your United flight that is enough time. All gates are connected inside security by the Aerotrain and mobile lounge. Delta uses concourse B, mainline United flights use concourse C and D, and United Express flights use A, C, and D.

Is 56 minutes enough time to make it from Concourse A to Concourse D? This would be a domestic flight coming into IAD at about 7:20am and international departing IAD at about 8:20am. .

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Connecting International Flight to International Flight

Hello, I am planning on arriving from ICN (Korea) to IAD (Dulles) arriving at Dulles at 11:20 AM through Korean Air. I'm wondering if the direct international connection from IAD to Cancun through United departing at 12:27 PM (on the same day) is a feasible option. My confusion is whether I need to go through the US Customs when I enter IAD through ICN to make another international connection. Note that Flights will be booked separately, and I can have someone else check-in for me, if needed. All baggage will be Cary-on Only. Please advise...

No, that is not possible. Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, go through US Customs, then go to the United check-in counter, and go through security and to your departure gate. Someone else cannot check in for you.
