Recheck baggageAug 11, 201231I am flying from RDU - IAD - DOHA - AMD route on October 16th. My travel agent end up making 2 separate tickets for RDU-IAD with united (reaching IAD around 7:00pm) and IAD-DOHA-AMD with Qatar at 11pm Flight. 7:00pm to 10pm is enough time to go to baggage claim pick up 4 bags and re check baggages with Qatar. Upon return i know there are 2 lines at immigration (Washington) for connecting passengers and final destination, since i have 2 separate tickets. I am wondering where do i have to stand? Connecting passenger line for immigration right?ARTposted on Fri, Aug 101. With four bags, I think it would be worth your while to check with a shipping agent like FedEx, DHL, etc. how much they would charge getting your bags directly to Ahmedabad - reason: You definitely will be charged by United for 2 bags, and more for the extra 2 bags. Qatar will do the same (unless you have preferred status) and may charge you extra for the second leg of their trip from Doha to AMD. 2. Arriving at IAD: United uses Concourse A with A gates A1-32; A1-A6 are for United Express. The AeroTrain now connects from the main terminal separately to the A gates A1 to A6 (if you would need to claim your bags and re-check them in). If not, near gate A6 is the shuttle bus to the D gates. No immigration procedures are necessary - this is only for international U.S. arrivals). Your time is sufficient.saaug12posted on Sat, Aug 111 person likes this post [ Like ]Me , Wife and Baby are flying.. we are in business class. United will charge me $125 and $135 for 1st and 2nd bag for more then 50lbs same with wife baggage so total i am spending $1040 which is ridiculous due to Travel Agent forced me to take this separate ticket. I told him that i flew before i dont prefer this at all but guess when they take your all $ you have no choice but to deal with it!!!!ARTposted on Sat, Aug 11

connecting from UA to OSAug 4, 201210arriving in IAD on UA, onward to Austria on Austrian 1h 15 min connecting time , is it enough and what terminal will connect flt leaveSabineposted on Fri, Aug 3Unless you arrive at IAD from a foreign country (in which case you would arrive at Midfield Concourse D & would have to go through passport control, pick up bag, go through customs clearance and re-check-in your bag, taking 35-50 mins) - you would land via United either separate Midfield Concourses A/B or C/D (at A, B or C gates). Austrian Airlines are using the B gates. On arrival at IAD follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; domestic arrivals at A, B or C gates should follow the AeroTrain sign; international arrivals will board the shuttle to US Customs.saaug12posted on Sat, Aug 4

Please advice how to connect the fastest way. Do I have enought time? Thank youNickiposted on Fri, Aug 31. At YOW, take advantage of the U.S. customs clearance, saving you time at IAD. 2. Arriving domestic passengers at IAD should follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; domestic arrivals at A, B or C gates should follow the AeroTrain sign. (A gates & C gates are in separate buildings). You have plenty of time.saaug12posted on Fri, Aug 3

Can I make my connection?Jul 30, 201210I arrive in Dulles on 8/25 on united from Denver at 11:28 am. Will I have time to make my connecting flight to Burlington that leaves on United express at 12:14?Sonnyposted on Sun, Jul 29Domestic flights on United are in Concourses A/B and C/D with A, B & C gates - on arrival, follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; then follow the AeroTrain sign. At A/B it arrives in the center between A & B gates. At C/D is only serves C gates. You have enough time.mojul12posted on Mon, Jul 30

connections?Jul 29, 201210We arrive IAD on United from SFO at 4 PM. Our So. African Airways flt. departs for Johannesburg at 5.40 PM. Is this enough time?moysejaposted on Sat, Jul 28You arrive at IAD at either Midfield Concourses A/B or C/D, as United uses A, B & C gates for its domestic flights. Your ticket should indicate your arrivals gate (A gates: A15-32; B gates: 535-79; C gates C3-17). A/B and C/D gates are in different buildings. South African Airways uses the B gates. If arriving at A gates walk past the escalator down to the Aerotrain, which divides A/B and on to the B gates. You have plenty of time. If arriving at C gates, you need to go down to the Aerotrain and head for the B gates.sujul12posted on Sun, Jul 29

Not enough time?Jul 27, 201210I am coming in from Denver at 16.36 departing for Madrid At 17.40 on Sept 7th 2012. Can I make it?loroposted on Thu, Jul 26One hour transfer should be enough at IAD. For gate-to-gate transfer I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iad, then click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the text. Your ticket should indicate gate numbers (also make sure that your first airline transfers bags to your second connecting one - not all airlines do, in which case you would have to pick up bags and re-check them in at your connecting airline counter.frjul12posted on Fri, Jul 27

ConnectionsJul 26, 201210I have a 50 minutes connection between the arrival of my flight from Tampa to catch an international flight to Japan. All flights on United. Is 50 minutes adequate time to make this connection?jrposted on Wed, Jul 251. IAD has a main terminal and Midfield Concourses, A/B, C/D, all of which are served by United. While A, B & C gates are served by the underground Aerotrain, it does not serve the D gates at present. A & B gates are on either side of the gateway - A gates are A1-32; B gates are B35-79. A1-A6 are for United Express. A walkway connects these concourses to the main terminal. 2. The AeroTrain now connects separately to the A gates A1 to A6, and another one to all B gates. Near gate A6 is the shuttle bus to the D gates. 3. C gates C1-30 & D gates D1-32 are connected by a walkway. Look at your ticket to find your arriving/ departing gate number and transfer accordingly.thjul12posted on Thu, Jul 26

Connection from IAH to DublinJul 24, 201210I am arriving at IAD on United 1112 at 8:57pm and connecting to Untied 126 to Dubin at 10:02. I would like connection information between terminals and quickest way! ThanksTraveloverposted on Mon, Jul 23At IAD,on arrival, check the overhead screens for your United departure flight to Dublin. (United uses Concourses A, B, C & D with corresponding gates). Then follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; domestic arrivals at A, B or C gates should follow the AeroTrain sign and board the train. A gates A1-32; B gates B35-79; C gates C1-30. Your time should be sufficient. NOTE: On your return, use Dublin Airport's U.S. customs clearance, saving time at IAD.tujul12posted on Tue, Jul 24

not enuf time between flightsJul 19, 201210United changed our schedule - arrival from Denver, CO on Mon. 8/20 @ 11:27 a/m & depart for State College, Pa on Mon. 8/20 @ 12:00 p/m --NO WAY to make this flight ----- need a race car to get to depart gate -- guess no one @ United considers time/distance!barbaragposted on Wed, Jul 18Arriving passengers at IAD: Follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; domestic arrivals at A, B or C gates should follow the AeroTrain sign. The Underground Aerotrain runs in a continuous loop from the main terminal's post-security area to the center of the midfield concourses A/B and C/D, and takes minutes. Look at overhead screens (and your ticket) for connecting flight number, gate & departure time. United uses A, B & C concourses and corresponding gates for their domestic flights. You can make it in half an hour.thjul12posted on Thu, Jul 19

international arrivls, connecting flightJul 15, 201210My mother arrives on United Airlines from Frankfurt and has to make a connecting flight to Denver, also on United. Is there a check in agent after she clears the customs or does she have to find a United check- in counter at the terminal? What gates serve these flights?***posted on Sat, Jul 141. At IAD, United serves in Terminals A, B, C & D with corresponding gates - her ticket and the overhead screens on arrival will indicate her connecting flight number and gate. 2. All international arrivals at IAD are being transported to the International Arrivals Building at the west end of the main terminal for TSA clearance. Unless you have gone through US customs clearance by participating airports, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes). Allow for plenty of time if you need to transfer to another flight (from arrivals gate to departures gate approx. 1.5 hrs). International arrivals who continue their journey cannot use the AeroTrain, but need to take the shuttle bus outside to their connecting gate.sujul12posted on Sun, Jul 15

RDU-IAD-DOHA QATARJul 15, 201210I am flying with 1 year old baby on United Airlines | UA 1017 to IAD (Arrive at 854pm), Have Qatar Airways | QR 052from IAD at 11pm. 2 hours are enough time for me to change terminal, recheck @ Qatar Counter , Security ? Anyone know which terminal United arrives at IAD and which terminal i have to take Qatar Airways | QR 052? Please advise!AT12155posted on Sat, Jul 14Looked for those flights listed today - no indication. IAH lists flights on day of departure - open http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/878.htm - then first click on "arrivals" and thereafter on the "Flight" column - the numbers will change from low to high; then do the same for "departures". It will list flight number, time & gate. Did you check if UA transfers bags to Qatar, in which case you would not have to recheck at Qatar Counter (one ticket for both flights or two?) if bags are transferred, simply follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; domestic arrivals at A, B or C gates should follow the AeroTrain sign. A baby bag you can wear across your shoulder would be the ideal means of transportation for you, leaving your hands free for your papers and carry-on bag. (You will love Qatar - they take good care of you!sujul12posted on Sun, Jul 15

eNOUGH TIME BETWEEN FLIGHTSJul 13, 201210I ARRIVE ON 8/13 FROM TAMPA ON UNITED 352 AT 9:10PM. i LEAVE FOR LONDON ON UNITED 924 AT 10:01PM. IS THIS ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE MY CONNECTION FOR ME AND MY BAGGAGE?rebposted on Fri, Jul 131. At IAD, United uses Concourses with corresponding gates A, B, C & D. Your ticket should indicate gate number. You cannot get arrival and departure airline gate information so far in advance. You can open http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/878.htm and click separately on Arrivals & Departures, and ten on "Flight" in the second top row - it will automatically adjust from lowest to highest flight number. Note that most likely you will depart to London from the D gates, which are not served by the train, but by a shuttle bus. Read up on www.ifly.com/iad and click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS - then scroll down to the text.frjul12posted on Fri, Jul 13
