Providence, RI to Rome, ItalyFeb 5, 201211Considering buying tickets but they only allow 40 minutes on United for gate transfer (no gate, concourse info available yet). Seems terribly short. Just how "makeable is this?"dusterposted on Sun, Feb 5[ Reply ]1 person likes this post [ Like ]1. United serves Concourses A (gates A1-32), Concourse C(gates C30-17, with a walkway to C14-1 and Concourse D (gates D1-29) Note, however, that currently only the A & C gates are connected in their center by the underground Aerotrain, making its continuous loop, while the D gates are served by a shuttle mobile lounge. Yes you can make it on time if you know where to go. Your ticket will indictate your arrival/departure, i.e., gate A30, C20, etc.).HH39posted on Sun, Feb 5

Dulles airport has a main terminal with connecting Z gates and Midfield Concourses A/B & C/D. 2. United serves Concourse A, which has gates A1-A6, the AeroTrain in the center, & gates A15-32. It serves also the C & D gates: C gates C30-17, a C14-1 reached from there by walkway; D gates D1-29. 3. Look at your ticket which gate you arrive and depart from. 4. Only gates A1-32, B35-79& C1-30 are served by the Aerotrain (underground); D gates D1-31 are only served by a mobile shuttle. - Follow signs. You can make it on time either way.HH39posted on Thu, Feb 21 person likes this post [ Like ]

Thank youkenkorposted on Thu, Jan 26To get from the A gates to the C gates use the below-ground Aero Train, taking only minutes - follow signs. Paris - Washington - Los AngelesJan 20, 201210HI, I will go Los Angeles from Paris but I must layover at the Washington Airport. So, how I find and the change the terminal or gate to take the plan domestic ? Thanks for you advice. TIROL.TIROLposted on Fri, Jan 20You will first arrive from Paris at IAD (Dulles Airport), where you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes). Make sure in Paris that your bags are being transferred by your departing airline to the connecting airline at IAH - not all airlines do - in which case you would have to take your bag over to the connecting terminal and check it in there. Note that all international arrivals at IAH are transported to the west end of the terminal for customs clearance. Thereafter, take the AeroTrain to the concourse of your connecting flight. Look at your ticket to see which gate you depart from (i.e, if it says gate Z4 - it's in Concourse Z, gate 4, same for Concourses A, B, & C & D.HH39posted on Fri, Jan 20

connectionJan 16, 201210My sister (she is from Spain) will arrive to Dulles from MADRID (SPAIN) at 1400 hours UNITED AIRLINES 7662. I will be waiting for her because then both of us will take the DELTA 4170 to JFK departing at 1600 hours. How is the best way to proceed?: 1. she goes to exit , meet with me and both check-in to JFK or 2. both of us meet in the departure gate please adviceCARLOSposted on Sun, Jan 151. All international arrivals are transported to the west end of the main terminal for customs clearance, where your sister needs to retrieve her bags, go through customs, and re-check-in her bags for the connecting flight (30-45 mins). I suggest that you meet her either in the Arrivals area of the main terminal, in front of the Information counter, or meet up at the Delta gate which should be located in the Midfield Concourse B, which has gates B35-79. B gates can be reached from the main terminal by walkway, or via the underground AeroTrain.MUCposted on Mon, Jan 16

International flight transferJan 14, 201210I am arriving from Ottawa on Air Canada 4564 and need to transfer to United Airlines 976 to Dubai, I have 1 hour and 30 minutes. How do I go about it.Kishorposted on Sat, Jan 141. Make sure to use Ottawa's U.S. Customs Clearance - saving you time at IAD. 2. Look at your ticket to see which Concourse & gate you arrive & depart from. IAD has one arrival via AC listed for today at gate 14, but not your flight number. Gate 14 would be in Concourse C. You need to depart with United at Concourse D. A mobile lounge shuttle will take you to gated D1-31. (so far there is still no Aerotrain connection to D gates). You have plenty of time.1039posted on Sat, Jan 14

international to domestic flightsJan 13, 201211My daughter's South African Airways flight comes inot Dulles at 6:25 a.m.(not 6:50 as I stated in my previous post - sorry) I want to book her on a domestic flight to Rochester, NY and find two flights that leave at 7:50 and 7:55 respectively. Is that enough time for her to get her luggage, get through customs, check-in with a different airlne (using the same concourse, I think), check bags and then make the flight?Dianneposted on Thu, Jan 121 person likes this post [ Like ]That time should suffice. All international arrivals at IAD are transported to the west end of the main terminal for customs clearance, where they retrieve your bags, go through customs, and re-check-in bags for connecting flight - count on 45 mins. Thereafter, she need to take the AeroTrain to the concourse of her connecting flight. The domestic Concourses are A, B & C with corresponding gates (i.e. A6, B35, etc.). The Aerotrain runs inside security making its continuous loop - count on another 15 mins for transfer.MUCposted on Fri, Jan 13

Domestic to internationalJan 11, 201210Is 50 minutes enough time to switch from United Domestic Denver to United International to Moscow. It shows no gates on the tickets I wish to book?Georgeposted on Wed, Jan 11The below-ground AeroTrain serves presently only the A,B & C concourses and can be used for gates A1-32, B35-79 & C1-30. A shuttle near gate A6 serves the D gates. United serves at A gates,C & D gates. When you arrive, look at the screens to see which Concourse & gate your airline departs from. 50 mins should give you enough time, but hurry.1039posted on Wed, Jan 11

Changing domestic to int'l same airlinesJan 10, 201210I'm confused about the maps I've seen of Dulles but in less than a week I will be taking a United Airlines flight (operated by united/colgan air if that makes any difference) from Charleston, WV to Dulles International and have a 1hr46min layover between that and my international flight from Dulles to Munich with the same airline (operated by United Airlines). My question is this: is 1hr46min generally enough time for that sort of thing? Do I still need to go through customs and security and such or do I just land at a terminal and either stay at that terminal or go to one nearby? Will it be enough time for customs and security if that's what I need to get through in the process of getting to my next flight? The map doesn't help me figure those things out at all.noneposted on Mon, Jan 9Until IAD completes its Aerotrain connection to all gates, transfers are still limited to A, B & C gates (D gates are served by shuttles). You need to look at your ticket to see which gate you arrive at and depart from at IAD, as United uses A, C & D gates. If you arrive at A gates, the AeroTrain is in the center between A1-6 and A15-32; at B gates between B35-51 and B63-79; at C gates at C30-17 (C14-1 has a short walkway to it). A shuttle from the A gates serves the D gates between gates D15-21 & D9-11. (A & B gates are on opposite end of the Concourse and you can walk to B gates). You have enough time. Just follow signs.IADposted on Tue, Jan 10

concourse for Qutar AirlinesJan 6, 201210We are flying from Charlotte,NC to Kathmandu via Dulles to Doha. Our layover at Dulles is 1hr20min. Is that enough time to make our connection? Can we check our bags all the way through from Charlotte to Nepal?Grammieposted on Thu, Jan 51. Your first concern needs to be to contact your airlines at Charlotte, Dulles and Doha if they transfer your bags. (certain airlines do not - in which case you need to know which terminal you have to take your bags to and re-check them in and how to get there. I suggest you familiarize yourself with the layout and transfer options of Dulles & Doha, by visiting www.ifly.com, inputting your Airline, and at specific AP site clicking on "Maps & Directions - "Terminal Map" where you find all the details under the map.MUCposted on Fri, Jan 6

Transfer to MunichJan 3, 201210My 75-year old mother is arriving from Boston on Jan 5th by UA3466. Her layover is about 3 hours. What is the best way for her to get to UA902? Will she have to pick up her checked-in bag, or it's possible to check the bag all the way from BOS to MD (Chisinau, MD via Munich)? Thanks much!ElenaDposted on Tue, Jan 3I understand that your mother departs Boston by United Airlines and arrives at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). She then takes a United flight to Munich Airport MUC, where she catches the connecting flight to Chisinau Airport KIV in Moldova?. If so, which airline is she transferring to at Munich? 1. United serves in Terminal C which has gates C14-45, and in Terminal E, which has gates E1-24. She needs to look at her ticket to see which gate she arrives and departs from. She can walk between gates C14-24 and terminal E. 2. At Munich airport she will need to go through customs procedure. Its 2 terminals are connected on levels 3 & 4 - her departure terminal to Chisinau depends on which airline she takes. 3. It is absolutely important that Boston AP at her check-in labels the bags properly with all Airports. It is likely that she may have to take her bags in Munich and re-check them in at her connecting airline counter.1039posted on Tue, Jan 3

How to transfer from United to EthiopianDec 20, 201110My 14-year-old lands on flight US6776 from San Francisco, CA. She needs to find Ethiopian Airlines within 2 hours. What are the best directions to tell her when she calls upon landing in DC?Ugandaposted on Tue, Dec 20US Airways arrives at Concourse Z (gates Z1 - Z4). I found no Ethiopian listing at either departures or arrivals. She needs to look at her ticket which will tell her where to go for her connecting flight: A gates A15-32; B gates B35-79; [C & D gates for for United & Continental) - note that after arrival at the Z gate, an escalator takes you via walkway to both A & B gates. She simply needs to follow signs. On Arrival she should check the overhead screens which will list airline, flight number and departure time.1039posted on Tue, Dec 20
