Hi, I am flying with SN 8838 from Orlando to Washington Dulles, arriving at 16:22, and leaving at 17:10 to Brussels with SN 8802. Do you think 50 minutes will be enough to make the connection ? Thank you in advance !

Brussels Airline is uses the main terminal. On arrival look at the overhead screens to find your connecting gate. You have enough time.

Note that SN8838 is United 326 and SN8802 is United 140. Both flights will operate from the C/D concourse at IAD. If your first flight is on-time you will have enough time.

  • OKC - IAD - FRA 1hr layover
    May 23, 2013
Hi, I am flying LH7465 from Oklahoma City to Washington and then LH417 to Frankfurt. I have 1hr layover. Is it enough time to catch this connecting flight? Thanks in advance

LH7465 is actually United Express flight 3738. It will arrive into C/D and your Lufthansa flight will depart from B. You will probably want to take the Aerotrain between gates. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time, but you'll have to hurry.

  • 1:07 connection time ?
    May 23, 2013
My flight UA 6493 from MSP lands at 16.18 (no info on concourse) on Saturday. Next flight UA 974 to Geneva takes off at 17.25 (Concourse D). Do I have enough time (1hour 7 min) to connect ?

IAD does not show the Concourse /gate for your UA arrival - United uses Concourses A, B, C & D with corresponding gates. Note that Concourses A,B, & C can be reached via underground AeroTrain (serving A gates 1-32, B gates 35-79 & C gates 1-30, Concourse D is not served by the train, but connects by short moving walkway to the C gates. You have enough transfer time.

I believe the MSP flight will likely arrive into D as well. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Montreal - IAD - Punta Cana
    May 18, 2013
we are a family of 4 flying from Montreal, Canada (YUL) to Punta Cana through Washington Dulles airport on July 21. Our YUL to IAD flight (#3475 by United Airlines) arrives at 7:48am. Second flight from IAD to Punta Cana (PUJ) (flight # 1661) departs at 8:53am. We practically have an hour to change the planes. How soon can I get info on Gate locations from United Airlines? Can I consider these 2 flights international? If yes, then I understand we do not have to claim our baggage and go through the customs. Am I right about this? Will one hour be enough for us to connect to our flight to Punta Cana? Thanks in advance

It is suggested that you arrive at YUL 3 hours prior to departure. You go through U.S. customs procedure at YUL, saving you time on arrival at IAD. Presuming that your connecting flight is also via United, your baggage will automatically be transferred at IAD. At IAD, United uses Concourses A, B, C & D with corresponding gates. The AeroTrain connects Concourses A, B & C, while C gates are connected by moving walkway to the D gates. One hour should suffice.

I will be flying from Panama (pty) to Dulles and the connecting Dulles- Rome on saturday 18th. I have 2 hours from one flight to the next. Since both are international flights I have to go through costumes in Dulles, pick up my bags and drop them off for connecting flights. Do you think Ill have time? Do I have to go through TSA security point as well?

At IAD, all international arrivals are being transported to the International Arrivals Building at the west end of the main terminal for TSA clearance: You need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag. Therefore, you cannot use the AeroTrain, but need to take the Mobile Lounge shutttle to either gates D1-32 and H-gates. D & C gates are connected, for A & B gates you need to take the AeroTrain. No security check needed. Two hours transfer time will be enough.

  • Catching qatar flight
    May 16, 2013
I have to travel from atlanta and catch qatar flight ar 11pm.can somebody guide me asto how to checking my luggage at iad

So you're buying two separate tickets? It's quite simple, you book a flight that is scheduled to get into IAD before 8:30 PM, then when you arrive, go to the baggage claim in the main terminal, then when you get your baggage, take it upstairs to the departure level and the Qatar Airlines counter.

  • Connecting flight question
    May 12, 2013
I am flying to IAD on a United flight arriving around 9:00 p.m. I believe this arrives in terminal D. I am flying out of IAD on Qatar Airways 10:50 p.m. (a little less than 2 hours). I believe Qatar flies out of the main terminal, but couldn't confirm this. What is the best way to get to my connecting flight? Will I have to go through security again in the main terminal? Is slightly less than 2 hours enough time. It looks like the United flight to IAD is on time only 60% of the time.

If arriving at the Midfield Concourse C/D, at D gates, you need to take the shuttle bus to the Main Terminal, as D gates are not served by the AeroTrain. Note that United uses A, C & D gates. If arriving at A gates, you can walk to the main terminal, at C gates take the AeroTrain. For daily arrivals/ departures open http://www.metwashairports.com/net/iaddepartures.aspx?t=dd Under gate column 'IAB' means Internatinal Arrivals Building (attached to Main building.

  • Terminal and Check In Questions.
    May 6, 2013
I arrive in Washington( IAD) at 9:10 pm. My connecting flight is to san fran(SFO) and leaves at 10:15pm. Both Flights are with United Airlines. Will that be enough time to do what I need to do? Also what terminal does United Airlines operate out of? Will I have to get to another terminal to get on my connecting flight? Also Do I have to chexk in and go through security again once I get to IAD or just go straight to my terminal and find my gate? Do gates usually change with less than an hours time? I am a first time flyer with connections and I am a little worried and I am trying to get all the info I can before I leave. Thank you so much!!

Is your flight into IAD Domestic or International. If it's domestic you'll just have to walk between your gates on the C/D concourse if you are on United mainline and possibly the A concourse if you're on United Express (where you'll have to take the Aerotrain or shuttle bus to C/D) Either way you won't have to go through security again.

My first flight is from Atlanta to Washington. Its like a united Express flight. So I will more than likely have to take the shuttle bus or aerotrain. Are those things hard to find? Where are they located were I can get on and off of them?

They're not hard to find, just follow the signs to the C concourse. If your first flight is on-time you'll have enough time.

  • Connecting Time
    May 4, 2013
Our family of 4 is arriving at IAD on United # 533 at 2:20 pm on May 29. We depart on LH#417 at 3:30. Is a 1 hour enough time to connect and what might happen if the UA flight is delayed ( no act of God)?? Thank you!

Yes, that is enough time. If you miss your connection you will be booked on one of the several later United or Lufthansa IAD-FRA flights.

I arrived at IAD at 415pm today united 3764 from syracuse my connecting flight united 3728 departs at 453pm 38 mins will i have enough time to make 2nd flight

Is 38 mins enough times to get from a2 to c24 at IAD

    Barely, you'll have to run.

Your arrivals & departures gates are in different Midfield Concourse buildings. On arrival, look for the AeroTrain sign and take it to the next & last station, then follow signs to the C gates. The train make its continuous rounds, taking minutes. You should be able to make it on time.

I am arriving from Newark at IAD on UA4269 at 11:35 am on May 5, departing to Beijing on UA897 at 12:15 pm. Does anyone has idea or experience that 40 minute connecting time is enough? Thanks!

you will have to hope very hard that your first flight is on-time. Usually that flight will arrive into the A concourse at IAD which requires you to take the Aerotrain from A to C, but some days like today, that flight arrives in C. Regardless, you'll have to hurry.

  • Connecting Time and Terminals !
    May 1, 2013
I am arriving from Montreal (YUL) at IAD on UA 3421 at 9:00pm, Aug 15, departing to San Paolo (GRU) on UA 861 at 10:10pm. I have also another flight from GRU, terminal 1 to 2, to Buenos Aires (EZE) 1hr25min only to change. I don't know which terminal that'll be in IAD, and if 1hr 10min will be enough to change of planes/terminal.. ?

At IAD your GRU flight will depart from concourse C. Is your YUL-IAD operated by Trans States? If so it will arrive into concourse A. You can take the Aerotrain from A to C. If your first flight is on-time you will have enough time.

I am arriving from Boston at IAD on UA 1689 at 3:41 pm on May 4, departing to Brussels on UA 140 at 5:10 pm. Does anyone know which terminals I need to come from/go to, and how long it takes?

Both flights will operate from the C/D Concourse. The walk between the gates will take 5-15 minutes.

  • Brussels Airlines Connection
    Apr 28, 2013
We're flying to Brussels for our honeymoon on Brussels Airlines new service from IAD on 8/5/2013. I'm flying out of Boston and connecting through IAD to Brussels. I arrive in IAD at 4:25 (Brussels flight 8834) and leave at 5:40 (Brussels flight 8802), which gives me 1:15 to connect. Since Brussels Airlines doesn't even start their service from IAD to BRU until June, I'm having a really hard time finding any information. I want to make sure we don't get stranded on the first leg of our honeymoon! It says "operated by United", but not sure what that means... thanks for any help!

Your flight is most likely by United Airlines, code-sharing with the new Brussels Airline after June. Your connecting time should suffice.

Actually, BOTH of your flights are operated by United Airlines as United 1715 BOS-IAD and United 950 IAD-BRU. Both flights will be in the C/D concourse so it should be a pretty easy connection.
