  • from Boston to Tokyo, via Washington Dulles, 45 m. connection time

I'm flying on a UA 525 from Boston to Washington Dulles where I have to catch a flight to Tokyo (UA 803) 45 minutes later. Is there enough time?

Yes that is enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do at IAD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the C/D concourse.

    which terminal at the IAD

IAD only has one Terminal. All United mainline flights, such as 484, use the C or D gates.

I fly with United from Geneva to IAD and then I have a connection for Mexico City. Is the 2:15 layover sufficient? Do I need to check in my luggage again? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.

  • International Arrival - Pet Relief Areas

Hi, First time flying into Dulles Airport. Flying international via Copa Airlines. Any ideas as to what concourse I would be arriving at, and if there are any nearby pet relief areas before clearing customs? Many Thanks :)

You will arrive in concourse B and be transported to the International Arrivals Building. I really doubt there will be a pet relief area.

    Thanks :)

  • Ottawa to SFO connection

Flight from Ottawa arrives at concourse A; flight to SFO departs from concourse C with a 47 min connection time. Both legs of the trip are with United. I also only have carry-on and no checked bags. Is 47 min enough to get from concourse A to C? What is the quickest way (I don't mind walking/running). Thanks

The quickest way from A to C is the Aerotrain. Run and you can make it as long as the ottawa flight is on-time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa.

  • IS the time enough?

I am travelling from Columbia (CAE) airport with a united flight. My flight will reach ther at 4:33 PM and my next connecting United flight for Zurich at 5:45 PM. Effectively I have 1 hour 32 Mins (assuming that clolumbia flight will be on time). Is the time sufficient for me?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. If you arrive in concourse A, you can go to concourse C or Do where your flight to Zurich departs using the AeroTrain or Mobile Lounge.

I have the same problem but, will my checked luggage go there? Also will the connecting flights signs take me there or should I know where to go from a map? Thank you so much! And thank you to whomever wrote this question!

I should add that it is all on United so I should be in the same terminal (C).

  • Connecting- where to go

Hi, I'm flying from Paris to IAD with a connection of 2 hours and then a connecting flight to Charlotte, NC at 5:00. I know that it's enough time, however I am confused because I will have checked bags and have to go through immigration but will it be in the International Immigrations Building or the Federal Inspections Building in Terminal C.?

if you are flying United you will go through US Immigration and customs in Concourse C.

I have the same problem but, will my checked luggage go there? Also will the connecting flights signs take me there or should I know where to go from a map? Thank you so much! And thank you to whomever wrote this question!

Yes, if you are connecting your baggage will be at the baggage claim in Concourse C immigration. There will be signs showing you where to go. No maps show the Concourse C immigration facility for some reason.

I pre-clear customs in Ottawa, and arrive IAD 16h21 on United. I think at Gates A. On a separate ticket for SAA 210 departing at 17h40. I think Gates B. Is there enough time? I can travel with only carry-on baggage.

With carry-ons only this should be possible if the Ottawa flight is on-time. It wouldn't be possible with checked bags.

  • Time to make connecting flight?

Hi, Im flying from Manchester (UK) to Seattle with Lufthansa on April 30th, and changing at IAD where I have about 1 hour to catch my connecting flight. Do I need to collect my backage and re-check it in? And do I need to change terminals? Thanks in advance.

1 hour is not a legal International to domestic connection time at IAD. You need to contact whoever booked that ticket and request a different connection.

Thanks for responding. It's 1hr 10 minutes to make the connection, but I shall contact Lufthansa re changing my domestic flight.

Note that both flights are operated by United and that's why they probably don't know the correct minimums at IAD.

Just to be clear, what is the minimum time allowed for connecting flights? Thanks again.

    90 minutes

Hi I am looking at getting a flight from RDU that leaves at 10:14 am with an 11:19 am arrival into IAD. From there I will be traveling to Beijing PEK airport. I am worried because there is only 1 hour and six minutes between the flight. Is that enough time? Or more importantly is it common for flights from RDU to IAD to be delayed?

IAD is not a delay prone airport. You should have plenty of time. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on the C/D concourse.

We will be flying home from Vienna in late March. Flight from vie to iAd with Austrian airlines. Then flight from iAd to okc with United airlines. We have 1 hour and 50 min is that enough time? What is the procedure coming from international to domestic? Can you provide step by step process? Thanks

You will arrive in the B gates and be transferred to the International Arrivals Building where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the AeroTrain or mobile lounge to your departure gate in A, C, or D. you have enough time.

Hi I am coming from Denver to terminal D and have to get a plane in terminal B 55 minutes later is that even possible?

D and B are just concourses, not Terminals. They are connected inside security by the mobile lounge. Yes, it is possible.

I am flying into IAD from Cleveland on my way to Dublin Ireland in March, I have one hr and 30 minutes, is that enough time between flights and will I have to change terminals ? Thank you.

IAD only has one terminal. If both flights are on United all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on C/D concourse.

Yes both are on United, thank you !

I clear US customs in ottawa YOW and change planes in Dulles for flight on to IAH and Guadalajara Mex. Will 1 hour 7minutes be enough time for the transfer in IAD for the flight on to Houston. All flights United

Yes, that should be enough time even if you arrive in concourse A. A is connected to C/D where you depart by the AeroTrain and mobile lounge.
