Arriving at IAD on American and need to connect to Air France for 5:45 p.m. flight to CDG. I'll have a carry-on.
1. What is the transportation from terminal to terminal at IAD? Is there a train that will take me to the AF terminal?
2. Will I have to go through security when I arrive at the AF terminal or just go to my new gate at AF?
3. Any general idea of how much time I should allow for this?
IAD only has one Terminal. since you don't have any checked bags all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on the A/B concourse. If you aren't able to check in online for your Air France flight you'll have to get it from the Air France gate. I'd want 60-90 minutes.
Arriving from MSY at 9:20pm with the connection to YUL at 10pm. Both flights are with united. Is 40m layover enough time including getting the gate-checked hand-carry item? Thanks
Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from New Orleans is on-time.
I am arriving from Cleveland and going to Frankfurt via IAD. My connection time is 50 mins. Will I be able to make the connection?
Both flights are on a single ticket (United Airlines)
Need some advice. My kid is on school trip, arrive Dulles on Avianca Air and connection is on United (2 separate tickets). She has 3 hours in between and I was told by both airlines that when she checks in in at Managua, Nicaragua she can give them her UA ticket # and they will check her bag to final destination as both are part of star alliance. Am I being told the truth? Kid is 18 years old and her 5pm flight home out of Dulles is last flight of the day. being stranded in Dulles is not an option
Anil, You have enough time - all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Lokin, Yes, that is the truth, but your kid will still have to claim their bag in Dulles to take it through US Customs. However, if it's tagged through to your final destination, they can then drop it at the re-check desk right after instead of having to take it to the United ticket counter afterwards.
Hi! I am flying from Johannesburg to Dulles on SA209 landing at 06:25. My connection to New Orleans departs at 8:35 (United Airlines UA6031). Is that enough time to make the connection? Do I need to clear customs in Dulles?
Yes, that is enough time. Yes, in Dulles you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.
i will fly back from Paris to IAD arriving 3:45 PM and connecting flight leaves 5:28 PM . Will that be enough to clear custom , claim luggage then get on connecting flight? Both legs are Delta flights
Your first flight will be operated by Air France. That is just enough time if everything goes perfectly.
June arrival from MUC on UAL at 3:25 PM - Connection to LAX on UAL at 5:10 PM
Enough time?
Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I will fly from Munich to Huntsville AL via IAD on United. The flight will arrive at IAD at 3:25pm. Departure to Huntsville will be at 5:05pm. Is 1 hour 40 mins enough to clear immigration (EU passport), claim bags, clear customs, recheck bags and get on the plane?
That is enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I will fly from Ottawa to Japan via IAD in mid August. The flight will arrive at IAD at 11:34 and the flight to japan will depart at 12:46. Will the time enough for transfer? do I need to claim the bag? Both flights are on the same reservation.
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa. All you have to do at IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.
Thanks.
I am traveling from Montreal to Paris via IAD.
This requires a terminal change from Z (arrival from Montreal) to A (departure to Paris).
1. What is the quickest way to make the connection?
2. Do I need to go through passport control and/or customs at IAD?
Many thanks
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. Are both flights on the same reservation or is it two separate reservations? What airline are you flying to Paris?
They are two different reservations: Air Canada to IAD and Air France to Paris.
OK, so you will still clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal, but you will have to claim your bags, re-check them with Air France, and go through security. If you don't have checked bags and you are able to check in online for your Air France flight then you can go straight to your Air France departure gate on the AeroTrain.
Many thanks! That's very useful information
I am flying from Charlotte NC to Copenhagen via Dulles IAD. When my American Airlines flight arrives in Dulles will I have to claim my bag and take and recheck to SAS? If I gook the flights using Expedia I think they are on the same reservation? But I don't think AA and SAS are partner airlines so not sure if AA in Charlotte can check my bag through to Copenhagen or if I have to claim it and recheck it?
If they are on the same reservation then American should be able to check your bag through to Copenhagen and issue your SAS boarding pass. If they check your bag through but can't issue the boarding pass you can go directly to the SAS gate and get it there.
