Hi I am flying with united to Raleigh via IAD from London on 22 October I will be checking in on line I know I have to go through customs but how do I go about rechecking my luggage for the connecting flight? Do I just put it on another belt? What signs do I have to follow? Also there is a 2h20 min stopover I am guessing this will be enough time? I am returning to London via the reverse of this route the following Friday when I land at IAD do I have to recheck my luggage or will this be simply transferred as it appears that both planes will be on the same concourse. Forgot to mention that the stop over coming back is 1hr15 Sorry for all the questions just never done this before. Thanks Nigel
Yes, you will re-check your bags in Terminal C/D right after you clear customs at a belt. Yes, taht should be enough time. On the return all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. You have enough time.
How long do I need to allow between an incoming domestic flight to departing on an international flight to Paris?? Same question returning from Paris to a domestic flight. Both directions would be a change of airline carriers.
What airlines? If it's two separate airlines on two separate reservations you need at least 2 hours on the way there and 3 hours on the way back.
I am looking at a united flight from Geneva to Denver that flies through IAD. Will 1 hr 10 min be enough time in IAD? I assume I have to go through customs in DC before heading to Denver? I am planning to carry on
With no checked bags that might be barely possible, but it's less than the recommended minimum International to Domestic connection time at IAD of 90 minutes.
Early November I fly from Amsterdam to Dulles and then connect to a domestic flight to Kentucky. My layover is 2hrs5min, if all goes as planned. Is this enough time to get through customs, passport control and re-checking luggage and a bathroom stop without worry of missing my 2nd flight? I'm considering paying the extra for the Premier Access that United offers, which is said to give quicker check-in, exclusive security lanes and priority boarding. Would this be necessary/helpful or useless in a connection situation?
One passenger, US citizen with checked luggage, booked directly through United.
Thanks for any advice.
Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly. Premier Access won't help you with anything for your connection.

Hello we are planing a trip to Dublin Ireland and connecting thru IAD. Flight info would be: Landing United at 4:05pm depart to Dublin on Aer Lingus at 5:15. No check in bags only carry on 2 adults. All flights booked thru Aer Lingus at once.
Is the axp 1 hour 10 minutes enough time to make the flight?
Thank you
Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Hi. I booked 2 separate flights and arrive in IAD on Delta connecting to Avianca for Brazil and I'll have carryon luggage with me. Will I have to exit the terminal to check-in for my international flight or can I just go to the departure gate for check-in?
You should be able to go directly to your departure gate if you have no checked bags. Try to check in online, but if you can't they should be able to issue your boarding pass at the gate.
Hi, We are traveling from Punta Cana to SFO on 25th Dec via United and connection at IAD Washington Dulles aiport with 1hr 15 min layover. We are Permanent residents but we do have to undergo immigration and carry our luggage to the connecting flight. If 1hr 15 min enough?
That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thank you! We have a 7 yr old as as well so its kinda tricky dragging the kid when he's sleepy and the luggage :(
Do you know how big are the terminals there? Would it be a long walk?
Everything will be in the C/D Concourse, which isn't too large by international airport standards.
I have to change planes at Washington Dulles Airport. After I arrive in Dulles, I have only 59 minutes to change plane to San Francisco. Is the time enough for the plane changing? Both flights are domestic. And What should I do after arriving at the Dulles Airport to make such plane changing? Do I need to check-in and go through the security check once more?
All you have to do in Dulles is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate if they're on the same reservation.
Flying into IAD on Iceland Air and connecting to American. Are the Iceland flights pre-cleared?
No, you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in IAD. You need at least 3 hours between your flights.
