  • Raleigh durham to Hartford - 41 minute connection time enough?

Have a 6 am united Express flight from RDU to Hartford CT that changes at Dulles. Is 41 minutes enough time to make the connection?

Yes, that should be enough time. If you need to change concourses, A is connected to C/D by the aerotrain and mobile lounge.

Hi, I'm flying from Montreal Canada (YUL) to IAD using GOJET AIRLINES DBA UNITED EXPRESS and connecting to a United flight to London. Connect time in Washington, DC (IAD - Dulles) is 48 minutes. Do you think it's possible? I am not a US citizen (but have an ESTA) and I will have checked in luggage. Will I have to go through customs or take my luggage?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal. In IAD all you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both likely be on the C/D concourse.

  • Would 69 mins be possible for transfer?

I'm going with UA on my IND-IAD-GRU flight and the transfer time is 69 mins. Is that enough?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. If you arrive in Concourse A it is connected to the C/D concourse via the aerotrain and mobile lounge inside security.

  • LAX to RDU transit at IAD in 47 minutes, Can I make it?

I have only 47 mins to transfer United (Lax - IAE) to United express (IAD-RDU). It seems like I need to take either train or bus. Can I make it in 47 mins?

You will arrive in the C/D concourse. Many United Express flights also use the C/D Concourse but some also use the A concourse. Even if you have to transfer to A via the mobile lounge or Aerotrain, you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • 2:20h connection, operator change from Lufthansa to United Airlines
    Apr 28, 2014

Hi! I am about to book a flight, and I'm concerned about being able to transfer in time: I fly from Frankfurt intl to Dulles Intl, (arriving time: 15:50) and I have 2:20h until the next flight. I am going to book both flights together on a website, but the first one is by Lufthansa and the second one by United Airlines. I don't know if due to this change of operator, I might be requested to get my luggage back and put it somewhere else . IF that is the case, will 2:20 h be enough to clear inmigration and do whatever is necessary with the luggage? Also, I have this doubt: is this true that transfering travelers go through a different queue to clear inmigration? Thank you very much!

You will clear US Immigration in the International Arrivals Building, claim your luggage, go through US Customs, and then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk with United. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate via the aerotrain. You should have enough time.

Thank you for your quick answer! I have made the same question to a nice lady at Lufthansa Customer's Service Phone, and she also thinks it is enough time to make. So I'm going to give it a try!

Hi - I arrive from Zurich on a Wed. at 3:20 pm on United, no checked bag. I connect to RDU at 5 pm, also on United, but booked separately. Will this be enough time to clear passport control, customs and TSA?

Yes, that should be enough time. You can check in for your IAD-RDU flight online before you depart from Zurich.

Hey guys, I have a flight with united from Montreal to Narita, with a transit at IAD which is 47 minutes only. Will I be able to make it?

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that should be enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Montreal and all you have to do in IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Connecting time for International -> Domestic enough?

Hello everyone, we (group of 4) booked a flight from Frankfurt (FRA) to Orlando (MCO) via Washington (IAD), and now the ladies are worried that the connection time (105 minutes) could be too short. Both flights are on United. Landing from FRA is scheduled for 08:05 PM on a friday evening. Departure to MCO is scheduled for 09:50 PM. What do you think? Do we really have to go through Immigration, customs, baggage claim, baggage drop-off and security? Sounds like a lot. Many thanks in advance, greetings from Germany

Yes, you have the procedure correct. You should have plenty of time. Immigration and security will not be crowded that late in the evening.

Thank you very much, thats a relief.

  • connecting from FLL to BRU

Is 80 minutes enough to transfer from FLL on United to BRU on Brussels Airlines? Thanks

If both tickets are bought together, then yes that should be enough time. United should be able to check your bags through to Brussels in FLL and all you have to do in IAD is take the Mobile Lounge or Aerotrain from C/D where you will arrive to B where you will depart.

  • Connecting Time and Customs Through Dulles

Is 50 minutes enough time to go from Ottawa, Canada to Dulles going through customs? I have a connecting flight to Pittsburgh within that 50 mintue time span and not sure how long customs will tage.

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Ottawa. You will not have to go through customs at IAD. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

  • Connecting in Dulles Airport from Ottawa, Canada to Denver, CO.

I am connecting in Dulles from Ottawa, Canada on May 9th, Flight United Airlines 5843 connecting to UA 1585 to Denver, CO. I have 1h58 minutes. Is that enough? I believe I go through US customs in Ottawa before departure.

Yes, that should be plenty of time. If you arrive in the A concourse you take the Aerotrain or Mobile Lounge to the C/D concourse where your Denver flight will depart. Yes, you will preclear US Immigration in Ottawa.

Is 55 minutes connection time enough to get from inbound from MCO to outbound to Heathrow? I don't know gates if inbound or outbound.

Yes, if both of your flights are on United then both flights will be in the C/D concourse.

  • Connect time for International Flight (Lufthansa) is 50 mins @ IAD
    Apr 11, 2014

My flight connect time @ IAD is 50 minutes for the International Flight - Lufthansa. Route (Austin - Washington - Frankfurt - Bangalore). I am concerned if this time would be sufficient to make it ? What can be done to ensure i make it to transit quick,? Will you be able to share information on the terminal & pre-caution in case i run late. Appreciate any help to clarify. Flight Arrival (LH 9078) @ IAD - 9 PM (Apr 16) Flight Depart (LH 9238) @ IAD - 9:50 PM (Apr 16)

Both of your flights will be operated by United, not Lufthansa. All you have to do at IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and both will likely be on the C/D concourse. You should have enough time as long as your first flight is on-time. Since all you have to do in IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, the only thing you can do to speed things along is run!

    :-) Thank You.

I'm flying London UK to Denver on United. The schedule gives a 1hr connection time at IAD. United say this is OK. Is it ???

No, if your connection time on LHR-IAD-DEN is only one hour then, no, that's not sufficient. You need at least 90 minutes. It would be sufficient on DEN-IAD-LHR.

  • BNA United to IAD Lufthansa Transfer

We arrive at Dulles from Nashville at 3:56 on United 3400. Don't know the gate/concourse. Our connecting flight to Frankfurt on Lufthansa 9051 departs Dulles at 5:15. Again I don't know the gate/concourse. Will we have enough time to make our connection. What concourse does Lufthansa usually depart from?

You will likely arrive in the A concourse. Lufthansa flights depart from the B concourse. A and B are directly connected. If your first flight is on-time you should have enough time.
