I'm flying from CRW charleston wv to IAD. Arriving at 11:34. My connection to Chicago is at 12:14. Will I have enough time to make my connection? Which Concourse will I arrive and leave out of. Flying united airlines.

You will probably arrive in concourse A or D and depart from concourse C or D. C and D are just two sides of the same building. A is connected to C and D by the mobile lounge and aerotrain. You have enough time if your flight from CRW is on-time.

Hello. I have just had my flights changed by United. I am flying Knoxville to Washington for a connecting flight on to London. The layover I now have in Dulles has been shortened to 103 minutes, please can you tell me if this is enough time as I have to change gates probably from C to A. Many thanks for your help!

That should still be plenty of time

I'm travelling from SJo to IAD and from there to LHR and have a 1h40' layover time in IAD. However I need to go through costums and recheck my bags (right?) although I'm just transfering through the US and not leaving the airport. Will that be enough time? I once had to wait 3 hours at JFK immigrations, so I' m a litte worried!

That should be enough time. IAD is a fairly efficient airport for International connections by US Stanards

i have a 56 min layover from CLE - IAD- PUJ flying united. Will I have enough time? Do I have to go through security and customs all in 56 min at IAD?

You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in IAD on your way to PUJ is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You could arrive in A, C, or D and will depart from C or D. C and D are just two sides of the same building. A is connected to them with the mobile lounge and aerotrain. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

We will be arriving IAD from CLE, going to FRA with only a 50 min connection with United. Any advice on gates, terminals and transfer time? Thanks so much!

If I land from Dayton Ohio at IAD at 4PM and my flight to Amsterdam leaves 5,30PM would that be enough time with different airline ?

If you are purchasing two separate tickets that would be fairly difficult.

Hello, I will be traveling RDU-IAD-MUC on June 12th with only 55 minutes layover in IAD. Is this time enough to get from my arrival terminal (from RDU) to my departure terminal (to MUC)? Thank you so much for your help.

IAD only has one terminal. Both of your gates will likely be on the same concourse - C/D if they are both on United.

Yes thank you Zap, but how long would it actually take to actually travel from concourse C to concourse A?What way is the quickest? shuttle or train or are there escalators or can you walk it? Thanks

They take about the same amount of time. You cannot walk from A to C.

The transfer itself would take may 10 minutes.

Thank you Zap. One last question if I may - would you have any idea which Terminal my domestic flight (United Express from Dulles to Knoxville) would be leaving from? ( Flight LH9312) on 9th June. If it is terminal A, how long would it take me to get to terminal A from terminal C where I arrive into Dulles? Thank you for your help!

Washington Dulles only has one Terminal. A, B, C, D, and Z are all concourses, or gate areas. The minimum connection time for your arrival is 90 minutes because you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags and go through security. There is a good chance your flight to Knoxville will depart from Concourse A. It is connected to C and D inside security by the mobile lounge and Aerotrain.

Yes thank you, but how long would it take to actually travel from concourse C to concourse A? Thanks.

On my return flight from Tyson Mcghee airport to LHR I have a connection at Dulles - would I have to go through security at Dulles or just as Knoxville and Heathrow? Also please could you tell me if my outward journey of LHR to Knoxille with layover of 2 and a half hours is enough time to clear customs and immigration and security at Dulles asif I do, I have a metal hip and am wondering if it will take me longer to get through security (pat down etc)? Many thanks in advance

On your way to LHR you will not have to go through security in Dulles. It shouldn't cost you more than a minute or two by having a metal hip. You have plenty of time for your connections.

The best ticketing option I'm looking at for a flight from Dayton to Bremen, Germany only has a 52 minute layover at IAD. I'm traveling alone with carry-on luggage only. Is it possible to make the connection, assuming the flight in from Dayton wasn't delayed?

    Yes, it is possible.

I am travelling into Washington Dulles from Orlando, landing at 1120 on UA 1298. My connection flight is from Washington Dulles to Narita, Japan at 1220 on NH001. I will have checked in luggage. Can you please let me know if I need to clear customs at Washington Dulles and do I need to collect my bags at Dulles and check them through again? Is the one hour layover too tight? Thanks!

No, you do not go through US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate on the C or D concourse to your departure gate on the B concourse using the AeroTrain.

Connecting flights LHR to Tyson Mcghee via Dulles IAD. Please could you tell me if I have to collect my luggage at Washington on my outward flight and recheck it in again before I get on the plane to Knoxville or will my baggage go straight from London to Knoxville? I have phoned the airlines and have been told two different things! I was emailed that there had been a response but I cannot find it! Please could you reply directly to this thread - am flying with united airlines (outward flight star alliance with lufthansa )

You will arrive in concourse C, go through US Immigration in United's facility there, then claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags at the transfer desk. They will be tagged through to TYS but you will still have to claim them to go through Customs. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate, which may be in the C or D concourse (which is one building) or in the A concourse (which is connected to C and D by the AeroTrain and mobile lounge).

Thank you ZAP. So you are confirming that I pick my bags up at Washington and re-check them in at Washington? What is the transfer desk?

The desk is a desk right after you go through customs where they take your checked bags back. It will be hard to miss and most of the people on your flight will be using it.

looking at a flight SEA to Venice, Italy. Flight has two connections: Dulles IAD layover 1h 50m. Second is Brussels BRU--that one looks good at 2h 25m. Not sure about the IAD, however. United minimum is 90 min. but know that can be tight at Dulles. Does the 1h50m connection sound okay. Flying on US passport

That is plenty of time. When leaving the US all you have to do in Dulles is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate - both will be in the C/D concourse.

Is 1 hour and 30 mins enough time for a layover in IAD?

Yes, that should barely be enough time.
