  • layover will I have enough time?

I will be on icelandair flight Flight: FI #645, IcelandAir Arrive: Sun 22-FEB 6:30 pm. Do you think I will have time to get through customs and get checked luggage for the USAIrways flight Flight 5634 leaving at 7:59 PM?

On separate tickets? No, that's not enough time.

Yes it would be seperate tickets first on IclandAir then on USAirways. If we do not have checked baggage could we make it? Thanks!

Without checked baggage it might be barely possible. You would still have to go from Terminal E to Terminal B and go through security. If you decide to do it make sure you check-in online for your US Airways flight before you leave Europe/Iceland.

Will be arriving in IAD via SAA....after going through customs, will I be able to check my bags in to Southwest Airlines from customs, or will I have to go to the Southwest ticket counter.

You have to take it to the Southwest ticket counter. Southwest doesn't interline baggage with any other airlines.

I am arriving at IAD from Munich, Germany on Tuesday on UA133 at 15:30 and will transfer to UA3434 to St. Louis leaving at 17:14. Will I need to claim my luggage upon my arrival to IAD and re-check it again? Will I have enough time to make my connection? Both flights are with United and I purchased the tickets together. It would be great if you could shortly describe the transfer process at IAD. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Arriving at IAD at 3:15pm on a Thursday (April), would I have enough time to go through procedures and then connect to my domestic that is just 1:55 later? Domestic is on UA as well, same ticket. I will have checked luggage.

Yes, that should be enough time.

I'm leaving ATL 7:23 pm getting on IAD 9:10 pm, 1h and 5 minutes it's enough to connect to DXB ? The flight is all operated by UNITED. If I lost the flight UEXPRESS it's responsible for that ? How many minutes the close the gate before the departure ?

You have enough time. all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The gate will close about 10 minutes prior to departure. If you miss your flight due to a delay on your Atlanta-IAD flight you will be booked on the flight to Dubai the next day.

    thank you.

  • Bringing puppy?

We'll be bringing our puppy from the breeder in Toronto, Canada, to Dulles. Because he will be less than 4 months old, we have received approval from the CDC for a confinement agreement. Do we need any other documentation? A vet report or health certificate? Any tips so we can get on the road home to Maryland without crisis, such as having the puppy taken from us?

Flight into IAD from Iceland arrives 6:30pm on Sunday 12/21 and separate ticket US Air flight from IAD to Charlotte leaves at 7:55pm. Will that be enough time including checked baggage pickup and recheck?

It's possible, but it's definitely cutting it close. You'll have to be to the US Airways check-in counter with your bags by 7:10

Thanks - I think we will try to find a longer layover

What if we didn't have checked baggage?

No you will not have to go through customs or security in IAD. You do not go through US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs when you get to Montreal.

We booked a United Flight, leaving Friday 31. October 2014 at 11:27 am from Cancun [CUN]. We will land Friday, 31. October 2014 16:44 pm in Washington, Dulles [IAD] Do we have enough time to catch the following flight United, UA 936, Economy, Friday, 31. October 2014, 17:55 pm, Washington, Dulles [IAD] to Zurich [ZRH] Please let us know, so we can get back to the airline asap. Thank you very much. setareh

Do we have to claim the bags and re-check as well?

You will arrive in Concourse C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags with United, then go through security and back up to your departure gate. It's maybe possible but there's absolutely no time to spare for delays. If you've already booked it there's not much you can do other than ask for a refund as there is only one flight a day on CUN-IAD and IAD-ZRH.

  • Connecting Flight

Hello We are flying from Cancun to Zurich and have about 65 minutes to change the plane in Washington. Is there any support or service we can use to make sure, we catch the connecting flight? What if we miss it?

65 minutes is totally inadequate for your transfer. You need to be rebooked.

Thank you! The airline wont. Do you know if this timeframe is outside the legal time? What if we miss the plane? Will united put us on the next available plane or do we have to buy a new ticket?

If you miss your connection you will be rebooked. However, there is only one IAD-ZRH flight every day, so you will be probably rebooked to Zurich via Frankfurt or Munich, which offer later departures from IAD. Worst case you will have to spend the night in DC and you will be booked on the next day's flight to ZRH.

I'm flying in from CLT arriving on Z concourse and have 30 minutes between arrival and departure at B79...is this enough time and what's the fastest way to get between these terminals?

US Airways no longer uses the Z gates, Frontier uses them now. If you are flying US Airways/American both of your flights will be on B.

My wife is travelling alone on a UA booking from LHR to Dayton via IAD on Monday 16th June. The UA inbound arrives at 1055 and the outbound with United Express leaves at 1229. The tickets were booked online, together as a priced package. I want to understand the procedure on arrival, wheher she needs to collect bags, likely Concourses, transit arrangements and whether the time allowed is enough. She is quite nervous of the whole trip and it will help (us both!) if I can set out exactly what and where she needs to do/go. Sadly we have, in ignorance, booked her a seat at the back of the aircraft from LHR so she may be a while disembarking. ANY help most welcome. Thank you.

I have booked my flights from HYD-DXB-IAD on one ticket and IAD-CRW United Airlines on another ticket. Transit time between flights at IAD is 3 n half hours. Since I have two separate tickets, do I need to re-check in? and if I need to re-check in, can I find recheck and ticketing counters right after the customs in IAD or do I need to go to any specific area in the airport to find the United Airlines counter(since I have to get boarding passes for United flight)?

We are flying from SFO to Dulles and have a very long layover in Dulles before going on to Rome. We are flying United but we have access to the Lufthansa lounges which I'm told are in a different concourse. Will we be able to go into a concourse that our connecting flight is not departing from? Or, will TSA block that? Thanks for any help.
