Zadar ZAD Airport Overview

Zadar Airport ZAD serves the Croatian city of Zadar, is gateway to the 142 Kornati islands, and is the nautical center of Dalmatia. Four national parks and three nature parks are in its close proximity.

The Airport is located on the beautiful central coast of Dalmatia, in Zmunik Donji, Croatia, and 8 km from the city of Zadar. The Airport is located on motorway 502 which connects east to motorway A1/E65 and connects west/north to the Zagrebacka motorway 8, and continueswest-north to Zadar. 

With two runways and 371,256 passengers in 2012, Zadar Airport is served during the winter season mainly by Croatia Airlines to Pula & Zagreb, while during the summer season the Airport it is served by domestic, international and low-fare airlines offering direct flights to European destinations, with connections around the world. A good number of seasonal charters also serve the Airport.
Note that since April 2013 Zadar Airport is Ryanair's base - with a stationed Boeing 737-800 - serving 16 European destinations.

The passenger terminal at Zadar Airport is spacious and modern and was recently renovated. Check-in counters open an hour before domestic departures & three hours before international departures; they close at different times prior to scheduled departure, depending on which airline or charter you take (Ryanair 40 minutes; Germanwings, Sky Europe & Intersky 30 minutes, all other international flights 20 minutes, Croatia Airlines 15 minutes).
Other amenities in the passenger terminal: Customs office, Visa office, food & drink establishments, and duty-free and tax free shops. The Lost & Found office at the information desks also responsible for lost or damaged luggage. Rental car desks are located in the arrivals area.
 
Parking at Zadar Airport is available in the parking lot across from the passenger terminal, which has 577 parking spaces (including 97 rental car, 23 taxi, 8 bus and 24 disabled spaces).

To get from Zadar Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or a bus. Ryanair & Germanwings provide their own bus connection to Zadar. However, there is also a bus running frequently between the Airport  (in front of International Arrivals) and the main bus station (platform 36) in Zadar; from there you can connect to all parts of the country. 
For Croatia Airlines passengers, Liburnija buses run between the Airport (next to main building exit/entrance) and from the City bus stop, departing one hour prior to take-off .
