Zakynthos International Airport ZTH (also referred to as 'Zante' or 'Dionysos Solomos' Airport) is located in the Laganas area of Zakynthos Island (‘Zante’) in the Ionian Sea on the west Coast of Greece, and is situated close to the town of Kalamaki, and about 6km or 20 minutes from the town of Zakynthos.
With an estimated 55,000 passengers a year, the Airport is served by Olympic Airlines with frequent flights to Athens, as well as by other European low-cost airlines and seasonal charters.
- The new Concessionaire Fraport Greece, which is now managing 14 Greek Airports, is starting to make much-needed upgrades to each of those airports, including Zakynthos.
NOTE: Currently, during the summer season, on Thursdays & Sundays more than two flight arrivals cause pandemonium at the check-in gates, with long lines at times reaching outside into the hot sun (the terminal itself has air conditioning). While Fraport Greece is making airport upgrades, it mostly will not benefit the 2017 summer season.
The new passenger terminal at Zakynthos International Airport is still way too small for the onslaught of tourists arriving in the summer season. Its Information Services can be contacted by tel. +30 269 502 9500. For VIP service call +30 26950-29530.
There is a (overpriced) snack bar, 2 bars, and a duty-free shop, and a duty-free area with a good selecton of brand-name merchandise.
Hertz & Europcar rental car agents & travel agencies maintain counters in the arrivals area.
