  • 1:25 from US to Italy
    Jan 27, 2017
Is 1hour 25 min enough for a connection for coming in on United from US and departing on Swiss to Italy? Do we have to pick up luggage and drop again or just go through immigration?

you just go through Schengen entry passport control. You should have enough time.

Great, so no luggage pick u and drop off?

  • Atl to Zurich to Split,Croatia - separate reservations
    Jan 13, 2017
Arriving into Zurich on Delta, Departing to Split on Croatia Airline. Separate reservations. What is the minimum about of time I should plan for to transfer ? What is the transfer procedure?

You will have to go through Schengen entry passport control, claim your bags, then re-check them with Croatian, then go through security and Schengen exit passport control and to your departure gate. I would want 3 hours.

  • 3 Hours enough to get luggage and make next flight?
    Jan 12, 2017
I would be coming in with my family on Edelweiss Air from Larnaca to Zurich arriving 2:25pm, getting luggage and then trying to make a Swiss flight departing at 5:30. Is this enough time? Thanks!

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time.

  • 2 hrs and 30 mins connecting (different airline reservations)
    Jan 13, 2017
Hi there! I will be travelling from HK to Zurich via Cathay Pacific and arrive Zurich Airport at 06:30am. I will then need to take flight to Vienna via Swiss/Austria airline at 09:00am. Since it is by different airline reservations, may i know if it is enough time for me? Also, I'm worried about the luggage transfer? How is it be done on our case? Do I need to do all immigrations, collect luaggage and go back to immigrations to do the check-in again? Thanks!

That should be enough time. You will go through Immigration, claim your bags, then re-check your bags and go through security. You do not go through immigration again because Switzerland and Austria are both in the Schengen Area, so the flight from Zurich to Vienna is like a domestic flight.

Thanks! I just checked with the airline that my baggage can be checked-through all the way based on the interline agreement between Cathay Pacific and Swiss/Austria airline. In that case, do you know if it is possible for me to get my boarding pass in the transfer area without going out to the check-in counter? Thanks!

  • Passport/security
    Dec 22, 2016
I am flying from Birmingham UK to Singapore with Swiss and have a stopover of 2hours at Zurich. Will I have to do passport control and security again?

No, since you are not entering the schengen area you just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

    Many thanks

Yes, that should be just enough time if the flight from Milan is on-time. You will have to go through Schengen Exit passport control in Zurich.

  • Connection in 40 minutes possible?
    Dec 19, 2016
I'm arriving on Swiss from London on Christmas Day and have only a 40 minute transfer time for the Swiss Newark flight. Can it be done? Do I need to change terminal/how long will the transfer take?

You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. It's possible but everything has to go perfectly.

  • Paris to Zurich to Newark
    Jan 3, 2017
We are planning a trip from Paris to Zurich to Newark. The flight from Zurich to Newark departs 10:15AM. The flight I found from Paris arrives in Zurich the same morning at 8:50AM. Would this be enough time (1hr 25min) to transfer baggage and make it to the international flight from Zurich to Newark?

On two separate reservations with checked bags, I don't think that's enough time.

Thank you! I just noticed this reply. In any case yes I had a feeling it would not be enough time. We decided to stay a couple of nights in Zurich instead of risking the connection.

  • Can we get through in 50 minutes
    Nov 21, 2016
We are flying in from Montreal and connecting to Warsaw. The connection time is 50 minutes (6:20 to 7:10 am). This is obviously tight, is there anything I could prepare in advance to make sure we make it?

This is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • 1h 40minutes enough?
    Nov 13, 2016
Flying from Prague to Singapore on Swiss Airlines, with a layover at Zurich. 1) How long does the immigration/customs take at Zurich since I'm leaving Schengen? 2) Is 1 h 40 minutes enough for the transit? 3) There is no need to check in or collect luggage right? 4) Is 1 h 40 minutes enough for luggage? I don't wish to be without my luggage.

Schengen exit passport control is a very brief process, you don't have to do anything with your luggage. You have enough time.

  • Connection time
    Nov 12, 2016
Hello, I am flying into from Singapore and need to connect to a LH flight to Munich - is 1 hour 30 minutes enough for immigration & luggage. Thanks

If both flights are on the same reservation you don't have to do anything with your bags. If it's two separate reservations it will be very difficult.

  • Is 45 minutes enough?
    Nov 9, 2016
Hi! I'm flying from Madrid to Stuttgart and have a 45 minute layover during my stop in Zurich. Do you think i will make the connection?

Yes, that is enough time if the flight from Madrid is on-time.

  • Belgrade - Zuruch - Lisbon 45 mintes
    Nov 10, 2016
Hi, we have 45 minutes layover in Zurich, flying from Belgrade to Lisbon (Swiss and Lufthansa). Do we have to go through passport control and will this give us enough time to catch our flight to Lisbon? Also, what are the chances that our luggage gets lost? We are not staying in Lisbon either (less than 24h) , so it would be a real problem delivering the potentially lost luggage to us... Many thanks in advance.

Yes, you will have to go through Schengen entry passport control and security in Zurich. This is a very difficult connection.

Thanks for your reply. What about the luggage? What are the chances that it will make it to get to second plane? If not, could it be sent the same day? We arrive to Zurich at 1PM.

Your flight is the only one on Swiss from Zurich to Lisbon every day, so if your bags miss the flight they won't get to Lisbon until the next day.

    Thank you.

Do you know how far away apart are the gates from Belgrade and Lisbon? I am aware that this can change but I guess that does not change much so even the info on the ones currently used would be helpful. Thank you.

  • Boston-Zurich-Florence
    Nov 7, 2016
Hello, Im traveling from boston to florence with a transfer flight in zurich, our layover is an 1:25 minutes is that enough time or should i be worried? Also is there signage telling me where to go? I am traveling with one other person and we have both never traveled alone like this before and i am afraid of getting lost or missing our flight.

Yes, that should be enough time. Just follow signs to your departure gate. You will go through Schengen Entry Passport Control on your way.

One more question, when I check in for my flight in Boston will they give me my bordering pass for my flight in Switzerland to Florence? If not where would I get that in Switzerland

Yes, they should issue both boarding passes in Boston.

  • I am travelling from uk to moscow with connection in Zurich only 40 mi
    Nov 6, 2016
I am travelling from uk to moscow with connection in Zurich only 40 minutes, our flight lands at 11:40 and the next flight is at 12:20 with a boarding time of 11:55 is this possible? thanks in advance

It's possible, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. But it obviously leaves no time to spare if everything doesn't go perfectly.
