Getting Around SHV Airport

SHV Airport features a single terminal layout, making it relatively straightforward for you to navigate. The terminal has been recently updated to include modern amenities such as wireless internet access. All passenger services are centrally located, and the layout ensures that you can access any point within the terminal without excessive walking. Dining options and other services are conveniently situated between the two security checkpoints, which means you can relax and enjoy these facilities once you've passed through security.

For moving between gates, everything is within a short walking distance. Signage around the airport is clear, guiding you to your desired location efficiently. If you need assistance, airport staff are readily available to help. Additionally, the compact nature of the terminal means that switching between flights, if you're on a connecting route, is hassle-free and quick. There are no internal trams or shuttles needed, as all gates are reachable on foot from any point within the terminal.

Frequent Flier Terminal Tips

To help you navigate the airport terminals with ease, we've gathered the best advice and tips from SHV-based frequent travelers, flight attendants, pilots, and airport staff. Their first-hand insights will guide you through the SHV terminals for a smoother experience. Here's what they have to say:

"Last time I was at the airport, I found the Tailwind Bar & Bistro to be a great spot for a meal. It's right in the main terminal, so you won't miss your flight." — Maria L., Shreveport, April 2025

"The free Wi-Fi is pretty reliable. I always download my shows while waiting at the gate." — David K., Haughton, May 2025

"If you're traveling with kids, the play area is a lifesaver. It's near the gates, so you can keep an eye on your flight status while they play." — Linda S., Bossier City, June 2025

"For a quick security process, use the Fast Track lane at the first checkpoint. It saves a lot of time, especially during peak hours." — Javier S., Shreveport, July 2025

"The signage is clear, but if you ever feel lost, the staff are always helpful and easy to spot." — Andrea P., Greenwood, August 2025

Security & Screening

In this section, you will find comprehensive information about the security and screening processes at the airport. Learn about the locations of security checkpoints, the availability of Fast Track lanes, and the details of TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints. Additionally, discover the options for Global Entry and CLEAR, as well as opportunities to enroll or renew your TSA PreCheck membership for expedited screening. This guide will help you navigate the security procedures smoothly and efficiently.

Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)

Shreveport Regional Airport has two security checkpoints located on the first floor of the terminal building. The first security checkpoint is located near the entrance of the terminal and is designated for passengers traveling on domestic flights. The second security checkpoint is located near the gate area and is designated for passengers traveling on international flights. Both checkpoints are equipped with full-body scanners and X-ray machines to ensure the safety and security of all passengers.

Fast Track Lanes and Locations

Shreveport Airport offers a Fast Track program for passengers who want to expedite their security screening process. The Fast Track program allows passengers to use a dedicated lane at the security checkpoint, which can significantly reduce wait times. The Fast Track lane is located at the first security checkpoint near the entrance of the terminal and is available to passengers who have purchased the Fast Track service.

Passport & Immigration Control Locations

SHV Airport does not have a dedicated passport and immigration control area as it only operates domestic flights. However, passengers traveling on international flights will go through immigration and customs at their final destination. Passengers should ensure they have all necessary travel documents and visas before boarding their flight to avoid any delays or issues upon arrival at their destination.

TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints

The airport has TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows expedited screening for eligible passengers, which can save time and hassle at the airport. To participate in TSA Pre Check, travelers must apply and be approved in advance, and then they can use dedicated lanes for faster screening.

SHV does not have a Global Entry enrollment center, but there are several locations nearby where travelers can complete the application process and interview, including Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Once approved, Global Entry members can use automated kiosks to bypass the regular customs and passport control lines when entering the U.S. from abroad.
