Flying into ORD with AA, changing to YYZ on either AC or UA CodeShare (layover time is about the same) - will one hour connection time be sufficient? Is there an easy walk path between the two or do I need to take a train / shuttle bus? Will the return (from YYZ to ORD with AC and connecting to AA flight) require same amount of time?
Do you have checked bags or not? 1 hour is not enough time with checked bags. If you don't have checked bags and the AA flight is domestic, it is possible as you can walk from Terminal 3 where you arrive on AA and Terminal 1 or 2 where you will depart on AC or UA inside security.
I am planning a round trip that ;departure from YYZ by Air Canada to SFO and then to connecting flight ( layover 2hr 50m) by United Airline to HKG . The returning flight schedule is; arrive on an ANA flight from NRT( Japan) at ORD (arrival time 2.55pm) and then to depart on an United Airline flight for YYZ at 5:50pm. Will I have to walk from one terminal to another terminal for my baggage claims, go through customs, etc., before being able to check in for another connecting flight throughout this round trip schedule? Also will I have enough time ? Thank you ~~
You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1, go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time.
thank you ZAP :)
I will be attending a meeting in March and staying at the Hyatt Regency Ohare. I am thinking about scheduling a United departing flight at 2:00 on a Thursday. I will have to make sure my meetings are done in time to get to the airport on time. How long should I allow to get to the airport and get through security at that time?
I would make sure you can leave the hotel by 12:15, 12:30 at the latest if you have Precheck.
I am due to fly from Manchester UK to ORD on Saturday 25th Aug on AA55. The flight time has just been changed so that I now arrive at 15:45. My connecting flight to SLC leaves at 17:10. Is this a realistic connection or do I need to call AA and ask them to change me to something more realistic?
Yes, that is now 5 minutes shorter than the minimum time. However, AA won't have any other options for you unless you want to add a second stop to your journey.
Thank you ZAP, most helpful :)
Arriving O'hare at 8.45 from st Louis, and connecting flight to London is at 10.00. Will terminal change be required and is there enough time to make it to the outbound flight? The baggage will be checked in at St Louis.
What airlines are you flying? I can't answer your question without knowing that.
Flying from Jamaica to Chicago on Untied Airlines and arriving to Terminal 5 at 5:30p.m. My connecting flight is at 7:40 on United Airlines. Is this enough time to go through customs, Immigration retrieve checked luggage, re-check luggage and make my connecting flight?
Yes, that should be enough time.
My family are coming in from Heathrow, on an AA flight they have a 2 h 30 min layover before their next flight to Des Moines, will this be enough time to clear security etc
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I have a flight coming in from Ronald Reagan Washington DC to O’Hare and a 45 minute layover time to a departing American flight domestically is that enough time?
If the first flight is also on American and is on-time then you have enough time, however it leaves very little time to spare.
Toronto to Chicago is on United, Chicago to Quito is on Copa (also Star Alliance). I have 2 hr 15min for the connection. Is that enough time? Do I have to wait for luggage and recheck them? How long and how do I get from Terminal 1 to 5? Do I have to go through security check at Terminal 5 again? There is sth called pre-clearance in Toronto - what is that?
Pre-clearance means you go through US Immigration and customs in toronto so that your arrival in Chicago is like a domestic flight. When you arrive, if all flights are on the same reservation, then you just have to take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. You have enough time.
Is it true that Airport Shuttle Buses have now replaced ATS train? Do you know how long it takes to go from Terminal 1 to 5? I suppose we have to go through security at Terminal 5. How long would that usually take?
No, that is not true. The ATS is still running except during the middle of the night. They ran shuttle buses between T3 and T5 inside security during the summer, but they are not currently running. You have enough time.
Thank you so much for your informative replies.
Slightly worried about my connection, flying from Beijing into Ohare with a 2hr20 layover before flying onto Tampa, both flights are AA.
That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
