I am a Canadian Citizen Flying from Montreal to O'Hare, then connecting to Tokyo.
Arrive in O'Hare at 9:25AM, Operated by AIR CANADA
Connection is at 10:25AM, Operated by ANA
Is 1 hr layover enough to have this connecting flight?
Thanks in advance
Yes, that is enough time. Since you pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate in T2 to your departure gate in T1 via a walkway inside security. You have enough time.
My son and I are arriving on an international flight from London at 8:05pm at gate t5 and it appears that we have to get out luggage and go through customs and catch a connection to Detroit at t3 all by 9; that going to work?
If it's all on the same reservation that's just enough time.
it is all the same reservation--I am unsure at this point if I will need to retrieve my luggage and recheck it--all done through expedia--we will arrive on the 11th ==it seems like a really tight timeline to make it through customs, recheck luggage and make it from terminal 5 to terminal 3 but hopefully it will work
Yes, you have to claim your bags to take them through US Customs in T5, then immediately re-check them at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to T3 and go through security.
Ok. Usually my son's bag takes forever as it is oversized. Hopefully it wont this time. Thank you.
Travelling on AA on single reservation. I know we will need to go through immigration (we have valid ESTAs) and security when transferring from T5 to T3. Will we also need to pick up bags or can they be checked right through to CUN?
We have 4hr layover so not worried about the time, just the convenience.
Yes, you will have to claim and re-check your bags. O'Hare still doesn't have ITI bags for passengers traveling on connections such as yours like Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, and Miami do.
Thanks for all your helpful advice ZAP!
Canadian Citizen Flying from Toronto to O'Hare, then connecting to Tokyo.

Arrive in O'hare 9:43AM, Operated by United Airlines
Connection is at 10:25AM, operated by ANA

We will have checked baggage as well.

Do we have to go through security again/pickup our bags? Is 42 minutes even close to enough time to make this work?

Thanks in advance!
Also, my check in on ANAs site doesnt show me the terminals.
My flight docs Show Terminal 2 arrival and Terminal 1 departure, but not sure how accurate those are (and they could change of course)
Update: Called travel agency - they've changed my terminals. I apparently arrive in Terminal 1 and depart in Terminal 1 as well.
So, still tight, but doable?
Yes, that is enough time. Since you pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto, all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Assuming no delays :)
Thanks as always Zap - we all appreciate you here
hi, thinking of booking flight, United, departing Ottawa , Canada, stops in Chicago ( terminal 1), change terminal 2 for Puerto Vallarta. Will have checked luggage which I assume will go directly to Mexico and I know I go thought customs in Ottawa. I have 1 hour and 23 mins, if everything on question: do I need to go through security again when changing gates from terminal 1 to term 2 ?? ?
I believe you likely have the terminals reversed - you will arrive in T2 and depart from T1, but you can easily walk between them via a walkway inside security.
so no need to go though security again when changing terminals ?
That is correct. 1 and 2 are connected inside security by a walkway.
Great, Many thanks. so I should have enough time between connections then.
I will be in ORD at 11:15 from miami, and i have to ride at 12:00 to tokyo.
fortunately, the terminal is same but i am anxious of not getting airplane on time.
is it possible to get on plane at that time? should i change the plane?
That is possible. All you have to do is walk from one gate to the other which shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes.
We are flying into Chicago on British Airways and will arrive in Chicago at 4pm, our flight out going to Italy, British Airways is at 4:455 pm will we have enough time?
Both of your flights will be operated by American. If your first flight is domestic that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3.
What a relief! Thank you!
I am flying into O'Hare, Terminal 2 with arrival time of 3:05p. I will only have carry on bag, no bags checked in. I booked my international flight separately, departing Terminal 5 at 4:50p. Will I have sufficient time? Same situation and question for return - arrive at O'Hare Terminal 5 at 3:50p, depart from O'Hare Terminal 2 at 6:30p
That is just enough time both ways if everything goes smoothly.
I'm arriving via a domestic flight on American Airlines at 3:55pm and will have to pick up baggage and then recheck for a United Airlines international flight leaving at 6:15pm. Is this enough time between flights?
That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Hello, I am flying into O'Hare domestic, will need to collect baggage and head over to terminal 5. Is there a bus or ATS service FROM baggage claim area?
There is no bus on the lower (baggage claim) level. You have to go upstairs and then across the street to get to the ATS. There are signs pointing the way.
