I need to fly from Chicago to Johannesburg (South Africa). Delta offers a flight Chicago - Atlanta with only a 55 min layover for getting onto the international flight Atlanta - Johannesburg. Both flights with Delta, booked on the same ticket. Will 55 min be enough? I am a South African Citizen with a US visitors visa.
1) Will I have to go through customs or security of some sort in Atlanta? How much time will that take?
2) Will my luggage be transferred automatically, or will I have to find my luggage and check it in again?

We are looking at a flight from Orlando to Madison with a 1 hr 45 min layover in Atlanta. Both flights are with delta. We are a family of 5. Kids will be 9, 5 and 2. Is 1 hr 45 minutes a safe enough layover time or are we cutting it close? We have never flown through Atlanta before so any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Yes, that is enough time. All gates are connected inside security by the Plane Train.
I am travelling from Kansas to London via Atlanta by Virgin Airways. I have a US Visitor visa and a UK Resident visa. Questions:
A) Is my baggage booked through from Kansas to London?
B) Is my exit immigration check (if any) at Kansas or Atlanta ?
C) Can I step out of the airport in Atlanta for a few hours without my baggage?
Appreciate a very quick response please. Thanks.
Yes, your bags will be checked through from Kansas to London if both flights are on the same reservation. There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. Yes, you can leave the airport in Atlanta if you want. You will have to go back through security when you return so leave plenty of time as the lines in Atlanta can be long.

Thanks a lot!

Hello, we have a 8-9hour stop over in Atlanta next month, we would like to check into an airport lounge, can you tell me, can we spend the whole layover time in the airport lounge or do they have time restrictions? how many lounges are there in Atlanta can we check into more than one? Thank you in advance.
Delta has several skyclubs in Atlanta, they don't have a time limit as long as your layover is not overnight (they close at like 11 PM and reopen at about 4-5 AM). United and American also have clubs in Concourse T that are essentially open the same hours but close a bit earlier. What airlines are you flying?
We are flying with Delta and Virgin.
Hello, next Tuesday I will be flying from Amsterdam, NL to El Paso, TX with a 5 hour layover in Atlanta. My sister lives in Atlanta and would like to come visit me at the airport. Is this possible? If so, where would I meet her?
Eh, it's not easy, Once you re-check your bags you will have to go through security, then take the Plane Train all the way to the domestic baggage claim station where you can go upstairs and meet her, then you will have to go back through security again and to your departure gate on the Plane Train when you're done.
I would like to ask how to change from domestic flight to international flight. I will take flight from Charleston by Delta, then to Seoul, Korea by Korean Air, and I have checked bag. So I need to claim my bag at terminal S after arrive, go to terminal I (is it concourse F?) , again check in, security and immigration? I m not US resident. The connection time is around 2 hour, and is it enough to do such all of things?
Many thanks.
If it's both on the same reservation all you have to do is go from your arrival concourse to Concourse F on the Plane Train. Your bags are checked through, there is no US Customs or Immigration when leaving the US. You have plenty of time.
That is great. Many thanks for your reply!
We are flying in Atlanta Domestic and flying out of International. Where would be the best place to meet a friend who lives in Atlanta for lunch at the airport. We don’t mind going through security...
Hello, I'm going to travel from Guatemala to Paris via ATL. I have a 1.20h layover. I'm afraid this is too short! Then if I do not recheck my baggage and go directly to take my flight to Paris, would it be an issue?
Thanks all!
We are flying to the Bahamas with an overnight layover in ATL. Do you typically collect your baggage and recheck in the AM or is it checked thru to NAS?

Thanks in advance!
Friends are flying through Atlanta, arriving on a domestic flight and departing almost 5 hours later on an international flight. Both flights are with the same carrier. How can I maximize the time we can spend together, but still make sure they get on their international flight without rushing?
They can exit security in the International Terminal and you can meet them there, they need to head back through security around 2 hours before their flight.
