I'm flying in from the UK and travelling onwards to Orlando. From arrival at ATL to departure I have 1 hour 59 minutes. I understand I need to clear passport control, collect bags, clear customs, drop bags, clear security, catch the plane train to another concourse (probably A or B). How long would this take?
I forgot to say that the first fight is Virgin Atlantic, second is Delta, bought on a single ticket through Virgin.
That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I did this yesterday and missed my connection. The queue for passport control alone took 1 hour 50 minutes with no one even remotely interested in the experience of the customer. Lots of desks but very few manned. Two and a half hours would be just about enough time. (However, got rebooked on the next flight easily enough except I had booked delta comfort and there weren't any left!)
I would like to buy a ticket from London to Lima and I have a stopover in Atlanta of 3 hours. I will be changing airplains (from KLM to Delta Air) and seems I have to take my luggage and check in it back to the next international flight, Please let me know if I need a transit visa for this as probably I will have to get out to take my luggage and I am a Romanian citizen without US visa and if 3 hours are enough. Thank you.
Both of your flights will be on Delta. You will need a US Transit Visa. 3 hours should be enough time.
Hi, my Delta flight from Milwaukee to Atlanta arrives at 17.05 and my next flight to Amsterdam leaves at 17.52. I have never been to Atlanta airport before and I am worried I will not have enough time to make the international flight. I am on a foreign passport, so am also not sure whether I will go through customs at Milwaukee or Atlanta? Please help!
There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Atlanta is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart and walk to your departure gate and board your flight. You have enough time if the flight from Milwaukee is on-time.
Thank you so much! This is a relief!
I will have a connection at ATL, coming from YYZ (Toronto) and then connecting to another U.S. destination. Both flights are Delta. The incoming flight is listed as terminal "I", and the outgoing flight is listed as terminal "S".

My questions:
1. If I have checked baggage, will it go all the way to the ultimate U.S. destination or will it need to be picked up in ATL?
2. I have just over an hour between flights, is this likely to be sufficient time? If I need to pick up baggage then I suspect this is too tight, but even without that, would there be enough time to make the connection?

Thank you for your help!
You pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Atlanta. All concourses are connected inside security by the Plane Train and all you have to do is go from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse, no need to actually change terminals. You have enough time.
Thank you for the quick and helpful reply!
My flight from SLC DL1644 is delayed. I show I arrive at gate South A21 and fly out DL374 from gate South T4. How long does it take to get from A21 to T4?
Probably less than 10 minutes. It's just one stop on the Plane Train.
1) Traveling ATL to YYZ do we need to check in International terminal or can we check in domestic?
2) Traveling YYZ to ATL I understand we clear customs at YYZ and flight becomes a domestic to domestic flight, do we pick up our checked bags in domestic terminal or international terminal?
You have to check in at the International Terminal. On the return you still pick up your bags in the International Terminal even though you don't have to go through Immigration or Customs when you arrive in Atlanta.
My reservation show that I arrive at Terminal S and have 51 minutes til takeoff from Terminal I. Coming in from LAX flying to Manchester UK. Not finding either Terminal on any maps of ATL. PLEASE HELP. SO CONFUSED!
You do not actually have to change terminals. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse (likely T, A, or B) to your departure concourse (E or F). That's it. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.
Have a 40 min layover, what's the fastest way to get from A to E?
The only way is via the Plane Train.
My son flies in Domestic to ATL at 4:29 PM, likely to Terminal A or T, Flight out to Lima is 5:50 PM Terminal E or F. Is this going to be enough time or should they put him on an earlier flight? (One ticket) It seems a bit close to me, especially if there are any delays with his initial flight. He will have 2 checked bags.
Why are you saying he has 40 minutes or less? he has over an hour. Taking the Plane Train takes less than 15 minutes. He has enough time.
We will be arriving to Atlanta(Delta) from OKC at 1:05pm. Depart for Cancun(Delta) at 2:11pm, enough time? We will also probably have one bag checked for under the plane, do we have to go to baggage claim domestic then recheck at international? Just unsure of the proper procedures for international flights now, been awhile.
All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart and board your flight. There are no special procedures for departing the US on an international flight other than showing your passport at the gate as you board.
