If Im coming from birmingham airport to ATL and connecting to a flight to Montreal, will I have to go through customs and security? Also will my checked bags be automatically transfered to the connecting flight or do I have to claim luggage ar ATL and take them to the terminal for the flight for montreal? And about how long will the transferring take. Ive only got 54 minutes from my arrival time to the departure time of next flight. (sorry first time flyer and not familiar with proper traveling etiquette) thanks for any help that can be given.
I'm assuming you're coming from Birmingham, Alabama. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate on the Plane Train. You go through Canadian Immigration and customs in Montreal.
Hi. Some months ago I purchased round trip Delta fare ATL to London LHR. Arrival back at ATL will be 1730 EST Sun 12/10.
Since then, need has arisen for me to arrive in San Antonio SAT that same evening (Sun 12/10, time not relevant) for meetings taking place the next morning.
I purchased a separate ticket for that leg (ATL-SAT), with ~4 hrs between landing from LHR 1730 and departing for SAT 2150.
So, that's the "what" and the "why". My question is regarding my transfer.
I am very familiar with ATL, having flown from there 24+ times or so domestic and internationally, including concourse F.
Seems simple enough to arrive from LHR, do customs, baggage claim, then go over to domestic and simply check back in, check the same bag, head through security as a normal domestic flight. 4 hrs should be plenty to do that and grab dinner.
What I'm unsure about is logistics, once I have my bag from LHR BC, what;s the best way to get over to check in at domestic for my next flight?
There's a shuttle from the International Terminal to the domestic terminal check-in area. Just take that after you clear customs and you'll be fine.
I'm flying delta leaving from Shreveport with connection in Atlanta to Cleveland Ohio. Will I be flying in and out at same terminal? It says domestic S. these are the flight numbers. Flight from Shreveport 3743. Atlanta to Cleveland 2548. I've never flown out of Atlanta before and do t want to miss my connection. Thanks
All you have to do is go from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse on the Plane Train. You find out your exact gates the day of your flight. Delta uses every concourse in Atlanta.
Hi, Zap. My parents will be travelling feom Dusseldorf to Miami with a 3 hr layover in Atl. I spoke to an airport representative at Atl and they said that my parents wont have to go to the baggage claim and that their bags will be brought to the customs area by the airline (Delta). Is that accurate, or do they still have to go to baggage claim? Can you please explain the whole process of internAtional to domestic transfer to Atl? Thank you.
Whoever you talked to is wrong. They have to claim their bags to take them through US Customs. They have to go through US Immigration, claim their bags, go through US Customs, re-check their bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the Plane Train to their departure concourse.
Hi,

traveling AMSTERDAM-ATLANTA-SAN ANTONIO. Do I need to check out my bags to go through customs in Atlanta and check them back in? I was just informed by a delta representative on phone that i do not need to check my bags out and check them back in, as they will be in the same area, the bags will be transferred by the customs officers to the next flight. Is this correct?
Whoever you talked to doesn't know what they're talking about. In Atlanta you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, take them through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and then go through security and take the Plane Train to your departure concourse and gate.

I fly in from Manchester UK with Virgin and have 2 hours 10 mins to go through immigration and get to Delta gate to fly out to Sarasota Florida. I only have Hand baggage , will this be enough time.
Yes, you should have enough time.
Thanks. But when arriving from Manchester UK with Virgin where do i check in with Delta for flight to Sarasota Florida and do you know what concourse and gate Delta use.
You will already be checked in for both flights in Manchester. Delta uses every concourse in Atlanta. Your departure gate and concourse will be shown on a monitor after you clear customs.
Hi
We arrive from Amsterdam to Atlanta at 13:10, and will continue with a domestic flight to West Palm Beach at. 15:10.
Is there far from International terminal to Terminal S?
Is 2 hours enough for immigration and customs and transport between terminals?
Thank you
You don't actually have to go to Terminal S, you can take the Plane Train to your departure concourse directly after clearing Customs and security. You should have enough time.
Is an hour enough time to transfer flights?
Yes, if both flights are on the same reservation that's enough time. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.
I’ll be arriving ATL 17 NOV on flight 1240. I have a very short layover at which time I have to figure out where my connecting flight is departing from.
I’ll be departing on flight 2012 to SAV. I know I’ll probably have to go to a different terminal. Could you tell me which terminal/gate I’ll be departing from? Thank you, Vikki
Delta uses every concourse in Atlanta. Your gates will be available on Delta.com tomorrow. The Plane Train connects every concourse inside security.
We are flying Delta to Panama City Beach (ECP) through Atlanta. We clear border security in Toronto. Our arrival in Atlanta is 70 minutes prior to our departure to ECP. Any concerns regarding this connection window? Also, assuming our baggage is checked through to ECP.
Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
