We are flying from UK on Thomas Cook Airlines and then on to San Diego on Jet Blue, bought on one ticket with T Cook. We have 3 hours between flights. Will we have to collect luggage and check in again and will we have enough time to change terminals and do security?
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal 5 and go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.
Thanks so much for that. T Cook tell you a different story every time you contact them, so really good to know that.
Hi!
I will be traveling on the 17th of may from Europe and I'll be arriving at JFK. I am a green card holder and I am a little scared I won't be able to catch my connection. I have 2 and a half hours to do everything. Will that be possible? I travel with delta. What will happen if I get stuck there and miss the connection? I can't change the ticket...
2.5 hours should be enough time. If you miss the connection due to a delay then you will be rebooked on the next available Delta flight to your destination.
I am arriving on AirSerbia flight from Begrade at 12.00 at JFK Terminal 4. I have to catch non connected flight to DC departuring at 14.59. Is it enough time to go through customs, pick up baggage and go back?
That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. What airline is your flight to DC on?
Delta
Would it make any difference if I would not have any checked baggage?
Yes, no checked baggage would help. It also helps that both flights will be in Terminal 4.
Thank you so much. If imy DC flight will also be from Terminal 4 I might take my chance. Thank you once again.
Coming in from Buenos Aires and connecting to Chicago. Is 1 and 19 mins just wishful thinking or do I need a couple hours?
No, that's pretty much impossible.
Thanks. That's what I figured. Was just the best price for the flights. :(
Appreciate gut-checking for me.
i a travelling by JetBlue on 2nd may will reach Jfk at 9.28. pm at terminal 5. and have connecting flight to Dubai from terminal 4. do I have to recheck my baggage at customs. and will I be able to clear immigration and security by Kiosko in 1 and half hour
There is no US Customs when leaving the US. Where are you flying into JFK from? Are both flights on the same reservation or is it two separate reservations?
Both the flight are on same reservation.
I am flying to Dubai
From Dubai to Mumbai
Where is your JETBLUE flight to JFK from?
Jetblue flight is from Curacao to Jfk. And from Jfk to Dubai to Mumbai. By Emirates.
Then in JFK you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal 4 and go through security. I think it will be really difficult for you to do that in just 90 minutes.
Hi! I'll be landing at JFK at 5:02am from JetBlue to catch an international flight on Royal Air Maroc at 6:55am. No checked luggage. Will I have to go through security again to get to the international terminal (T1 I think) to catch my flight?
Yes, you will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal 1 and go through security. You have enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Being told by 2 different Delta reps about how our flight from CMH to LHR, via JFK will connect. We only have 2 hours between....one says that the bags will fly straight through to LHR. The other says we will have to retrieve and go through security again at JFK??? Also on the return from EDI (Scotland)....only have 90 minutes but with Global Entry or mobile passport.....arrive Term 2, depart Term 4 for CMH....enough time?? Have to obtain bags in one terminal and lug them to Term 4? Or will they go through.....
LHR and EDI were both airports on the list to be upgraded to Pre-Clearance for US travelers....not yet though??
On the way to London all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. On the return you have just enough time if everything goes smoothly. Both flights will be in Terminal 4. Neither airport has preclearance. When you arrive in JFK on the way back to Columbus you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.
Thank you ZAP.....yeah, on the return, we'll have to hope for the best. Otherwise it was a 7 hour layover---might be the one that we ultimately seek to get bumped to if we miss our connection.
Our return confirmation shows arrival into Terminal 4 from EDI-JFK, our JFK-CMH states Terminal 2?? Hopefully our bags go to Terminal 2, so we don't have to lug them all the way from Terminal 4 arrival gate?
We do all have Global Entry and mobile passport for one of us....
You won't have to lug your bags between terminals. You can re-check them at the re-check desk in Terminal 4. Your flight to Columbus will indeed depart from Terminal 4, not 2.
Thanks ZAP.....I'm new to this forum....are you a rep for JFK? Or are you a person who posts here from local JFK experience in the past??
I answer all the questions for every airport on this site. I am a volunteer. I draw on my own experience and the experience of others.
My teenage daughter arrives at Terminal 4 on ElAl at 3:55pm. Does she have enough time to make a JetBlue flight to Dulles from Terminal 5 at 6:00pm? These are separate tickets and she is an American citizen. I assume she has to go thru customs then re-check. She will have 2 large heavy bags plus carry-on, can she take a luggage cart on the train between terminals? Is 2 hours enough time? Thanks for your help.
She can take a cart on the train. I don't realistically think that's enough time.
I'm a British citizen. flying delta codeshare with virgin from Montego Bay into JFK, then I have my international flight back to Heathrow with Virgin.
my question:
they both arrive into and depart from terminal 4.
Do I need to do the whole customs, security on arrival from Jamaica?
I have 1hour 45mins, would this be enough to claim luggage, put on transfer and connect to my international?
Yes, in JFK you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. That is a very difficult connection.
Ia a 3-hour connection time enough for arrival flight from Cancun and departure to Zurich? Different tickets booked and different airlines. Thanks
We hold a European passport
That is barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. What airlines are you flying?
We arrive with delta and leave with Swiss
