Hi- I am flying out of JFK Terminal 5, and trying to coordinate to see a friend that is arriving at Terminal 4 within the same time-frame.
After I pass security at Terminal 5 Departures, can I go over to Terminal 4 Arrivals and meet him at his arrival gate? Or do I have to wait for him to go through the customs line first?
And, will I need to go through security again traveling between terminals or arrivals/departures?
No, you can't. They are not connected inside security. You will not be allowed through security in Terminal 4 and he won't be accessible to the public until after he clears US Customs at which point he will be outside security in Terminal 4. You could meet him outside security in Terminal 4 if time allows, but to get to your flight you would have to go to Terminal 5 on the Airtrain and go through security afterwards, so you'd need to leave T4 ~90 minutes before your flight.
Got it. Thanks for the prompt reply!
Hi, I am arriving in JFK from doha on a qatar flight and catching AA clight to charlotte. i have 2 hrs 45 mins of connection time. I am not a US citizen and this is my first visit to US. Will this connection time enough to go through immigration, customs, recheck and board the flight? It is a single ticket. Also Do i need to board any train/bus for boarding my flight to charlotte ?
Yes, that should be enough time. The morning arrival on Qatar Airways arrives in Terminal 7 and you will have to take the AirTrain to T8 to depart. The afternoon arrival is at T8.
Thank You
I need your help to confim if we will have enough time for connection between Terminal 4 (DELTA airline coming from YYZ - 5:34pm) and Terminal 1 (AIR FRANCE flight to CDG - 7:05 pm) ?
Airtrain is the only way to go ?
Thank you for your help and enjoy your day
Yes, you will have to take the AirTrain and then go through security in Terminal 1. You have just enough time if the flight from Toronto is on-time.
Thank you for your quick answer.
Enjoy your day

I have a Delta flight from Manchester, UK to JFK landing at 3:26pm and a connecting WestJet flight to Calgary departing at 5:55pm, will I have enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.
I'm arriving at terminal 7 on BA flight from Heathrow and transferring to Terminal 8 for flight to Raleigh. It is on one ticket. Do I need to go through immigration at JFK and pick up my bags or just transfer to Terminal 8?
Yes, in JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, Take the AirTrain to Terminal 8 and go through security.
Than you for your help.
I am flying from London Heathrow to LAX, with a 2 hour layover at JFK.
My first flight is with Virgin, landing at terminal 4. My connecting flight is with Delta departing from Terminal 4. The entire journey was booked together with a travel agent, will I need to re-check my bags? And will I have enough time? I have the benefit of landing and departing at the same terminal
Yes, in JFK you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I heard the shuttle was not working a few weeks ago, I am going from terminal 5 to terminal 4. Is it currently working?
The AirTrain has not had any reported outages in over a year. What are you talking about? The AirTrain is the only way between T5 and T4.
Connecting from international JEtBlue flight landing in T5 onto international AirFrance flight leaving from T1.
Do I need to pick up the bags and clear customs ? Or there is a shortcut for travelers who does not need to "enter" US?
Where are you arriving from on JetBlue? If it's international you WILL have to enter the US as the connection from T5 to T1 is in a public area.

I have a jetblue flight from Colombia to JFK arrival time foreseen 1930 and then I have to catch a Norwegian airlines flight to Paris that's leaving at 23:55. Do I have enough time to go through immigration, pick up my bags and check in for the second flight?
I'm French and I have an ESTA authorization. Thanks for your help.
That should be plenty of time.
Hi, we will arrive on El Al at 15:55 on 4/2/17. Do we have enough time to retrieve our bags, get through Immigration and Customs in time for a Delta flight to MSP at 18:40. Thank you
That's really borderline whether it's doable or not.
Thank you
