I and two family members are arriving from Athens Greece via Delta on June 1st. We have a connecting flight to Atlanta an hour and 40 minutes later. is that enough time to collect our bags, go through customs, recheck our bags and catch the connection?
That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
I will let you know. We are leaving Athens now for JFK. We hace 2.5 hr layover for BNA. From everything i have read we should be fine. However, we got a message telling us that due to construction, expect delays. Also, my Delta app has exclamation marks by Jfk flight.
Thank you so much. Delta thinks it's enough time. I'm trying to reach them now to see what other options are. I appreciate feedback from both responders.
We made it. Process goes like this:
1-get off plane amd go to passporr control.
2-more than likely you have ear passpoer so you will go to the left
3-get passport stamped and then go through door to get tour luggage...ours was lined up
4-go through
5-go through door and drop off luggage
6-go through the maze of airport (we went up two sets of escalators) to TSA
Did you not have to go through Customs? and when you say TSA, do you mean you had to go through the security line again? and if so, was it the same security line as everyone else or just for people who had cleared immigrations/customs?
I will be coming in from Denmark on Icelandic air with carry on luggage only and need to transfer to Jet Blue. Do I need to go outside the airport to transfer and through security again or is there tranfsers within terminals? is 2hrs20min enough time? If you have ticket for another flight can you get a speed pass for custom lines if long? Thanks much
You will have to go through US Immigration and Customs, take the AirTrain to Terminal 5, and go through security. There are no "speed passes" at US airports.
We arrive from SDQ (Dom. Rep) with JetBlue at 2 pm, and have 4 hour transfer before departure with Swiss Air to Zürich at 6:10 pm. The tickets are bought separately, but can we still check our bagage for the entire journey or do we need to collect the baggage and check in again and go through customs ect.?!? Do we have enough time?
We have another possibility - Arriving with DELTA from SDQ (Dom Rep) arriving 5:40 pm, and Departure with Swiss Air to Zurich - ZRH at 9 pm. I think they are both in Terminal 4. Same Question - do we need to collect luggage and go through customs/immigration ect.???
Thank your for your help!
I am flying on 2 separate tickets with Delta to Athens, Greece(SAN-JFK...JFK-ATH). Will I need to re-check my luggage in addition to going through security? Can I check my bags all the way through with Delta even though I am on 2 separate tickets?
If you show your Athens confirmation to the Delta agent in San Diego you should be able to get your bags tagged through to Athens.
Thanks ZAP
Booking our return from Shannon, Ireland, to Pittsburgh going through JFK to change planes. Airline is trying to sell me an 1:50 PM arrival to JFK with a 3:20 PM departure to PIT. IF it's not enough time why are the selling it? Friday 7/14 is the date. Thanks
That is enough time as you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Shannon. All you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
We are a Family of 4 with Little kids travelling from Charlotte to JFK and later the same day from JFK to Copenhagen (leaving at 10.p.m). We're not sure what time to book the flight from Charlotte in order to have plenty of time (including unforeseen events!) to collect our bagage from domestic, check in at international etc. We have an option of either arriving in JFK at 3 p.m or at 6 p.m. What do you recommend?
What airlines are you flying? The 6 PM arrival should work.
Our flight fr.o.m. London arrive at terminal 8 13.05. And then our next flight depart fr.o.m. Terminal 8 at 14.59. Do we need to pick up our luggage an then check in it again. Our is it going the whole way to Orlando by itself?
Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Hello. I will be flying in from KUL on Etihad and arriving at JFK at 9.40am. I will need to take a connecting flight to MSP from LGA. How long will I need to clear immigration, colllect luggage, clear customs? And finally, how much time will I need to get to LGA assuming I take a cab? Appreciate the help. Thank you.
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Abu Dhabi. All you have to do in JFK is claim your bags and leave the airport. It will take you about 30-45 minutes to get to LGA at that time of day.
My suitcase didn't make it on my flight. It will arrive on the next flight. I need it immediately and cannot wait for the airport service to bring it. Who can pick up my suitcase and put in on a taxi to manhatan?
That's not possible.
I arrive at JFK at 5:20 pm and need to catch domestic flight next at 8:30 pm with JetBlue, do I have enough time to go thru security, check my bag and still make it to my flight?
What airline are you flying on your first flight? From where? Is it two separate reservations or one reservation?
