We are arriving to LAX on a Tuesday morning at 8:05am from Salt Lake City on Southwest to Terminal 1. We are leaving on American Airlines, Terminal 5, to Kauai at 9:45am. We will have baggage to recheck, but we do have TSA pre-check. Is this enough time?
That is barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
Would it buy me more time if I took a taxi from terminal 1 to terminal 5 and then also used Skycap to check my bags? Is the taxi idea even possible?
You can't take a taxi between terminals, nor would it save you any time.
We are flying from Salt Lake to LAX and from LAX to Lihue. From what I can tell we will need to change from terminal 2 to terminal 3. We only have 45 minutes to change planes. Will we have to leave the terminal and go through security again or are there shuttle busses?
There are shuttle buses connecting T2 and T3 inside security.
I am flying into LA from MSP via Spirit and then out to Japan on American. These are 2 different tickets. Will I have to go through security again for the international terminal? And how far away is it? I am only carrying bags on so that won't be an issue. (I will have to check in for my flight to Japan)
If you are able to check in online for your flight to Japan, you can walk from Terminal 6 where you arrive to Terminal 4 or 5 where you depart inside security via underground tunnels. If no you will have to exit security to get your boarding pass for the flight to Japan, then go through security.
I am wondering if I need to collect my luggage between flights flying in from Tucson and out of LA to Melbourne. I am flying with American Airlines and I think it is on one ticket. Also will I need to clear customs on the way out. How do I get from Terminal 5 to Terminal B?
You do not have to collect your bags on the way to Melbourne. Note that your second flight is operated by Qantas. You can walk from T4 or T5 where you arrive inside security to the International Terminal where you depart via walkways and the connector building. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.
I’m doing something similar - Vegas to LAX (American Airlines) then Qantas to Melbourne. It’s all on the one ticket. Will my bags be checked all the way through or do I have to pick them up and recheck at LAX?
Lel, your bags will also be checked straight through and all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate through the connector building.
I have a layover at LAX going from OAK to Rome. Will I need to re-enter security to change terminals?
What airlines are you flying?
Delta then Atalia (sp?)
You arrive in Terminal 2 or 3 and depart from the International Terminal, Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security from their Terminals to the International Terminal, so you just have to take that shuttle bus.
I called Delta and they did not even know that, LOL Thanks!
Hello. Please can you confirm if I will need to collect my luggage at LAX or if it will transfer through automatically when i fly internationally from LHR to AKL via LAX on a single AA issued ticket, using BA metal with an AA flight code 6180 for the first leg (LHR-LAX), arriving in TBIT, connecting to AA83 for the second leg (LAX to AKL) in Terminal 4? thanks for your help
Yes, you will have to claim your bags in LAX to take them through US Customs.
I'll be flying Delta from Vancouver to LAX, and then connect on a Virgin Australia flight to Melbourne (flights booked on same reservation). Will I need to collect my bags and then check them in again and what is the immigration procedure (if there is any) that I'll go through while connecting in LAX? I'm aware the Delta flight from Vancouver arrives at T2/T3 and the Virgin Australia flights departs from TBIT.
You pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. At LAX all you have to do is take a shuttle bus to the TBIT (Delta runs one inside security).
