Hi. I'm flying from Cayman Islands through Miami-Qatar-Philippines. I will reach to Miami at 9:45am and my next flight going to Qatar is at 8:30pm. Can I go outside the airport since my layover is 10hrs and where can I put my luggages and shall I go to the check in counter again and immigration before my next flight? Thank you.
Yes, you can leave the airport but I believe you will have to take your bags with you unless they are already tagged to DOH.
Oh ok. So since i will go outside the airport then. The time of my departure which way shall i go again? Shall i go to the immigration for checking again?
You will go through US Immigration and Customs when you arrive in Miami. There is no US Immigration when leaving the US. All you have to do when you return to the airport is check your bags (if you haven't already), go through security, and to your departure gate.
ok. so is there any place inside the airport that I can leave my luggages since I will go outside the airport for a couple of hours? how much is the rate?
I have an American Airlines flight from San Jose (Costa Rica) to MIA due to arrive at 5.10pm and then an international flight to Australia with Qatar leaving at 7.40pm also from MIA. Is that a sufficient layover when I have checked baggage? I am unsure of the terminals.
I am comming flying LHR - MIA - AUA all with AA flights, with only a 2,5 hour Connection in Miami, but I still cannot find a traight answer if I need to recheck bags in Miami. On their own webpage Miami Airport it states that it depends on airline,, most internet pages I've visited say that I need to re-check my bags. I have boarding pass en luggage tag all the way to AUA. Who has updated info, which I can trust, do I need to recheck bags in Miami or will they go all the way through. Regards
Since the connection is international to International all on AA, then you don't have to claim your bags in Miami. However, you will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security.
I have a flight from D.C to Miam then Miami to St Lucia. Will I have to get bags go through customs and security and recheck my bags? If so my flight lands in Miami at like 8:45 and then the flight to St Lucia starts boarding at 9:06. I don't think that's enough time.
If both flights are on American that is enough time. You don't have to do anything with your bags. Just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.
I am flying from Atlanta to Miami. I will have a 5 and a half hour layover in Miami & then I am flying on to Lima Peru. Will I have to retrieve my checked baggage in Miami & recheck it for the next flight to Peru? Will I have to go through another security check? I haven't flown in over 13 years! Feeling very nervous about the whole thing!
Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations? What airlines are you flying? I can't answer your question without that information.
I am flying from SCL to MIA to MXP, with a 13-hour layover in MIA (4:30AM to 5:30PM). I do NOT want my bags checked all the way through-- I want to grab them when I land in MIA. Is this possible, or am I forced to check them all the way through? How do I make sure I can get them in MIA? (Note this is an International-to-International connection).
I forgot to mention, both flights are with American Airlines.
I am flying from toronto to maimi to grenada will I need to recheck my luggage? can I leave airport? 6 hr layover
If both flights are on American you don't have to do anything with your bags in Miami. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Yes, you can leave the airport if you want but you will have to go through a long security line when you return.
